HOA Steath Antenna Update - Hustler 6BTV Flagpole

I have relocated my Hustler 6BTV antenna, setup the new radial plate and radials and attached my signature US flag to enjoy HF 24/7 in my HOA! I just wanted to update my HOA ham experience, enjoy! Don't forget to like comment and subscribe!

Thank you for the comprehensive video. I have a residence in AZ that is also in an HOA, but does allow for a flagpole. Before laying down rock in the backyard, I put down 500' of radials and pounded in a fence pole just like you. My intent is to use the exact same setup for base and antenna probably as a kit from DX Engineering. It was awesome to see it done and know it is going to work. The antenna will go up in the spring.

If you tuned that 40m band/trap that would be about perfect & ya would not even need a Tuner What so ever on that baby..I Run a 5BTV With NO Radials But i had to tune mine for ever band & my 10m band has the highest swr of all of them at a 1.6-or 1.7 But i dont use 10m that often ! any thoughts about just laying a hog panel down near the base? I have used hog panels VERY successfully.

No idea, I think most anything would work. Hustler states the radials aren't necessary but can 'improve' performance. I'm sure it would work as Hustler states the radials don't even need to be cut 'to length' meaning 1/4 wave I believe, any length will help so I'm sure a rectangular panel would too. Like those screens some POTA guys have been using.

Great video and very informative. This may be a dumb question...I'm fairly new to HF, since summer 2023....how do you mow and trim your yard with all those radials?? I get that they're stapled down but?? You must mow really high. LOL. 73

Great question. I mow short fall/winter then staple them down and come spring the grass literally devours the radials growing over them and they disappear in the thatch and base of the grass with no problem mowing. 👍

Nice video and good presentation. It appears that the bulk of radials are oriented in a easterly direction, judging from the shadows cast during filming. Would you please comment concerning the antenna pattern directivity you have experienced with this setup. N4WJA

I wish I could figure out how to model antennas and move the radials but I haven't figured that out yet. I assume there is a slight gain easterly, from Texas, but I haven't noticed any change in my reach. I thought the shed next to it would block me to the west too but I am still hitting Japan, Austrailia, etc. You can see my log on qrz since October. I understand. you have more yard than I do. I had a GAP Titan DX in the back but we had a nasty shakeup in our HOA so I took it down . I've been looking at the flag pole but have very little room for radials. @@prephampaul

The good thing is when ground mounted this antenna doesn't need the radials and you don't need to worry about 1/4 wave lengths or whatever just lay down what you can, mine are 6' to maybe 30' in length.@@stahpit1971
