This video was the first I’ve ever watched from your page. I just stumbled across it & was sucked in. I also wanted to point out how awesome that was hearing you be so honest & upfront about not having to charge families for your service as a result of the thousands of ppl who watch the videos, and interact with your channel one way or another. Of coarse I knew that people make $ from KZbin because of the # of subscribers, and the # of likes ect. But I found it so informative when you broke it down further for us. And moving forward I will always be sure to like and comment on every video that I watch & like because it’s my way to give back to the person creating the content and that cost me absolutely nothing! This was great & has inspired me to get my ass in gear 😎 THANKS!!

Can I have an applause for Jen, who decided things needed to change, got help and started decluttering and cleaning? It's such a big deal to even realise you need help, let alone start and fight what you feared for the most. She is such a blessing to her family! Her kids will know that you can ask for help if you need to and that you can change so much if you really want to.

My favorite thing about you is that you don’t judge. As an independent woman and a mother I know how hard it must be to admit that you need help, and part of the resistance to asking for help is the fear of embarrassment. So the fact that you make people comfortable and safe enough to trust you into their life like this warms my heart. Thank you for doing what you do and sharing it with the world! Jen, you’re amazing and I am in awe of you!

Cambrea thank you so much for your "Hoarders" series. I recently started helping my elderly neighbor with her home. To my surprise the conditions of her home were very overwhelming and very unhealthy both for her physical as well as her mental well being. When approaching the situation I had no idea how or where to start, but your series really has encouraged me and surprisingly I actually was tackling some of the situations just as you suggested. Means it is only me and I am 66 years old myself and not able to do a lot at one time I just focused on one area at a time. I can already see my sweet friends disposition brighten. She is so special to me and when I go over to clean she turns on her music and comes alive. It's such a blessing to be able to help each other out and you have such a precious spirit to help out those in need. God bless you Cambrea and your family .... xoxo

But my life has done a 360 turn. I hardly ever get motivated anymore. I live alone now and kind of new to the area. I don't know many people. I live in a very secluded area. But I love it here. Just don't socialize. My family are all in Pa. And not very close. I wish we were. But too many issues. So we all stay in our own world. It's so sad. I love them all. @@joykarhu1053 I ran a non-profit school age & early childhood program for 15 years and ur totally right donations of even the most basic doll house meant the world to our kids!! It’s also a really really really good thing to do as a family and your children can see that their stuff is going to be used by others and it makes them feel proud of what they are doing. Also we would soak all the plastic toys/ blocks cars ect in bleach & water solution, we would run some stuff through a dish washer obviously wash any dress up/ & doll clothes.... AND now more than ever programs have to restrict what toys and supplies can be used by the kids in the classroom because of Covid, so it is super helpful for programs to have multiples of each item so more than 1 child can use something each day! GREAT SUGGESTION!

PLEASE stop calling yourself a hoarder!! You are making the word meaningless by overusing it, and giving a derogatory label to people. Do you have newspapers stacked from floor to ceiling that you've kept for YEARS? Do you have stacks of hundreds or thousands of yogurt containers or tin cans that you've kept for years? Do you have jars of urine all over your house? Do you keep "collecting" animals but don't tend to their needs so that you have dead animals all hidden among the piles of animal waste in your home? If not, you are NOT A HOARDER! Hoarding is the PATHOLOGICAL collecting of things. Organizers couldn't STAND going into a real hoarder's home b/c they would be overwhelmed. The people wouldn't ask for help to "declutter". They don't WANT help. There has to be an intervention of some kind by law enforcement or mental health care providers. So just stop misusing & overusing the word, "hoarder"! Maybe you BUY too much shit. That's a different issue. Stop doing that b/c it wastes your money & WASTES Earth's FINITE resources, & diminishes your life. Maybe you are disorganized. Maybe you are overwhelmed & indecisive about what to do with your stuff. None on that makes you a hoarder. Even sloppy people who don't care about appearances or keeping the house clean or tidy are not hoarders. They just have different priorities & cleaning house isn't one of them. [Edited to correct a typo.]

@@DonnaBrooks if you buy too much of anything then it is hoarding. Too much food, too many toys, clothes, books, makeup, cleaning supplies, etc. You seem overly sensitive about this subject. Perhaps you have a problem with an overabundance of things and don't want to be considered a hoarder. I myself have too many books and they take up too much space in my tiny home. There are many people who hoard just one specific item. It doesn't have to be newspapers, jars of urine, animals, etc. You can hoard anything.

Leading up to Christmas I don’t buy myself stuff. Like the new broom I need or the new hairdryer because the old one is in its last legs. And then I ask for it at Christmas. OMG, thank you so much for allowing me to watch this video. Even though my hoarding problems are so much smaller. I lost my fiance 2 years ago and I have not been able to sleep upstairs in the bedroom that we shared for almost 8 years. So, that is my everything and the kitchen sink goes to that room. Then, whenever I need something out of my room but I can't remember exactly what bin, box, basket or bag that I put it in, I have to ho through everything. Every time. So, it's a crazy mess. I haven't been able to stay in that space for more than a few minutes without having an overwhelming feeling of sadness and just pain. So, if I'm looking for something specific things usually get moved and moved and piled in every free space it may land when I have to get out of there when I just can't take it anymore. Still having some of his belongings mixed in mine don't help. It's been 2 years and my kids have offered to help clean it all up but, partly because I'm not ready to let go and because I'm a very private person. Always have been. And, before this loss in my life I was the Ms. OCD momma of my entire family. Nothing was ever out of place. So, facing all this mess has opened up other kinds of feelings for me. Okay. So, now that I've written a few chapters about my, let's call them ... issues. It's not a funny topic. These people aren't sloths, they have serious mental issues. If they don't actually address the mental health problems, they will never be able to get out of the hoarding. They need help and support and they need therapy to address the underlying psychological issues that cause the hoarding behaviour. Don't ever make fun of a hoarder, because what you see in their home is an expression of their mental state.

New viewer here, ( Im sure u have answered this before.) Can u give an approximation of how much it typically costs to hire someone like you? Many clutterers have a scarcity fear holding into things they fear they cannot afford to replace if they let go of them and there are many seniors living on fixed incomes and could really benefit from this kind of help, but cannot afford the expense of any kind of household help, and are too embarrassed to get any kind of social service help . You are amazing btw😍

Is anyone else bothered by the statement that husband wants the 1st room to be a mancave, yet mom is dealing with 6 kids at home while he has out of the house time daily? She needs a momcave. Or a nice organized play room that's easy for.kids to pickup themselves. My sister is a horder. Not intentional, just overwhelmed. I fix it for her but it happens again and again. I like cleaning, so that's fine.

it kinda rubbed me the wrong way as well. the majority of the mess was kids toys so i feel like it should have been a play room for the kiddos considering they are clearly used to using that space for playing.

We don’t know this family. I think it’s fine for her husband to have a mancave. Maybe he works long hours, double shifts. Maybe he takes care of the kids when he’s off so she has some time to herself. Maybe she already has a space for herself. Maybe the Mom wants the kids to play in their bedrooms instead of spread out in a big space with too many toys, creating a huge disaster. I think Cambriea mentioned they hadn’t touched that space in two years. So, the kids haven’t been playing there. Looks like they purged a lot of toys.

She said she has 3 special needs kids, and I'm sure they get doted on quite a bit with gifts, ect. I can assure you, as a mother with just one child who went thru childhood leukemia, everytime we went to the hospital we'd come home with so many toys and gifts, it was insane. It was really sweet, don't get me wrong, but it was also just too much! One child doesn't need that much stuff. Her dealing with 3 children of a similar situation, I'd imagine it'd just be 3xs as bad. I highly doubt she bought all those toys herself, they were most likely gifts and donations.

I have to admit to becoming a bit of a hoarder. I was dealing with the stuff from family members after they passed and attached a great sentimental value to “everything”. The straw that broke the camels back was the recent passing of my sister-in-law. She was a very artistic person and there wasn’t a craft or sewing project she didn’t love: I.e. she had five sewing machines, four irons, hundreds of patterns, etc. Christmas was her favorite holiday and literally over a thousand cookbooks. She had “STUFF”. A LOT came to my house. Point is, after weeks of sorting stuff and trying to fit it in with my stuff, I found this site. Thank you, thank you. I took many of your suggestions, shelved my “what if’s” and started purging. Not done yet but what a wonderful freeing feeling. I have donated so much to worthy organizations, including humane societies, they were all thrilled with what they received. So besides cleaning my house, I’ve done good deeds. Bless you again for the motivation.

Judy Keinz I’ve been dealing with the same thing in my home. This comment about letting go of the “what if’s” is very helpful. I haven’t watched many of these yet and have not heard her speak of our motivations, but I’ll keep watching and remind myself not to get caught in the “ It might be useful to me or my children so I’ll save it for them” trap anymore.😊

I remember helping a cousin. I walked in and he embarrassingly said; I just didn’t know where to start. And that’s the crux. The two in one sentence. Embarrassment and Knowledge. So I said let’s just start with viable paper clutter. And that’s how you start. Just one thing. Stacks of paper are always an issue. And then we gathered all the clothes on the floors of every room. And you just keep going. Don’t lecture, just do. If you ask a question, let it be one that leads to the “function”. Ask, How do you use this normally and where would you like to when we’re done?

It is so valuable that you provide support for every day people to get their lives back in order. Once the mess takes off it can seem insurmountable. Also the fact you do it for free is amazing. I know as a babysitter for many single moms over the years how much it helped them just to organize the toys back into bins and wipe down the surfaces while I was there or doing other light cleaning tasks once the kiddos were in bed, so I can only imagine the relief for this family. Keep it up. Wishing you the best from the maritimes:)

Not only that, but flip flops are the most dangerous shoes ever--even more dangerous than high heels. There is no ankle support, the backs can get caught on something or someone can step on the back as you are walking, causing you to trip (I accidentally did this to a guy in church, but he was fine. Yes, he wore flip flips to church [Catholics...]). And if none of that happens, they wreak havoc on the heels. All that slapping of the shoe against your heels causes the skin to become cracked.

I needed to watch this for the motivation I need today!. I’m currently at the stage of ‘where do I start’!. But I’ve learnt from your video just start at least anywhere and then your brain will tell you to carry on in another spot and once you carry on you make progress!. Well done to the hard work you achieved to get done ❤️

Watched the whole thing! I love cleaning and organizing and cleaned houses for years. It's so hard to do your own. But to have someone come in with fresh perspective makes it easier to determine what needs to be done and then how to execute it properly. You did a great job! It's a dream of mine to one day clean a hoarders house!

New subscriber! I absolutely love cleaning motivation videos. I am a stay at home mom of 5 kiddos and it's so easy for me to bet burnt out on cleaning all the time so motivating videos help me a lot! I literally watch them every day.
