Sir Ben is so lucky to have been born into money. He has not got any sense at all though. Those aristocratic people certainly need help because they can not look after themselves. Years of being told they are better than everyone else when they are not.
@johnedwards4663 жыл бұрын
God this sir Ben is a right Charley Thant me being polite if he hadn’t put such a inflated price on the items he could of made thousands but he know better than the advisor now got to pay to transfer them and pay storage the whole exercise was wasted on him and he wasn’t very entertaining in himself but in general very good program thanks for posting mrs edwards here
@craftyhobbit76233 жыл бұрын
The thing is, if Sir Ben was living in a council house or tiny council flat instead of a stately home, he would be like those who just fill their home with junk, and by junk, I mean actual rubbish, not just too many books, pots, pans, clothes, etc... As an aristocrat, he doesn't have any taste at all, and those cannons, etc, are only of value if historical events can be linked to them.

This show misses the psychological component-the “helpers” think calling it all rubbish and being rational will persuade the hoarder. But they collected for many reasons, and untangling the attachments takes understanding. Tough love will work briefly for this show. What about when the cameras go away, and the hoarder has had no insight or emotional awareness? They’ll scurry to refill that perceived lack, and all the stuff will be back.

Many people are referring to Antonia as Steve's wife....but after being together for 5 years and having two children together (and another on the way), she is only his fiance. I would say there is more problems in this relationship other than his hoarding. He wants to hang on to his past in more ways than simply keeping his storage rather to making a good future for her and their children. Sad really....
@janesmith90244 жыл бұрын
Yes but they are going to have a wedding it briefly mentioned and she wants things cleared before the wedding. Perhaps the solution is work for her - I worked full time when I had 2 children under 4 and was pregnant and earned more than my husband and I was the one affording us a big house!
@janesmith90244 жыл бұрын
Sir Ben bought things he should not have and was probably conned into it including at the auction where he bought the guitar and really should have just got rid of them without reserves or low reserves. He needs to clear the whole unit and then clear abhout 50% of the items in his house. Then he needs to look at his costs - £40k a year heating etc and decide what makes the most money in his business eg he may not need the assistant he brought with him or he might be able to hire his home out more. The other couple- that man needs to get rid of his tools if he doesn't use them anymore. He also needs to clear the garage of everything except the children's bikes.
Steve is selfish. Cut your losses, woman. Steve can go move in to his beloved storage unit.

@राधाकुमार-द4य4 жыл бұрын
This is part of a certain mindset. Instead of getting rid of things you dont need, on a regular basis. As soon as you realize you dont need them. Instead of cleaning your house a little at a time. As soon as you notice a room is dirty. Buying stuff instead of putting a litlle money away for an emergency. Then you have to hire all these people to spend months cleaning your home, to clear out a storage bin full of junk that you dont even remember what its in it. You have no money in case of emergency cus its been spent on difficult situations that you have created. Meanwhile, I sit home relaxing, watching these videos because my house is clean, I have nothing in storage and Im not wasting my money. I dont know what this mindset is called. I think its some kind of disorganized thinking.

I think as well, people who are born into his station in life also have an over inflated sense of the value of the material goods that are around them, plus also they have a distortion over the value of money because they are used to spending lots. If you buy wallpaper at £10 a roll, they'll think of nothing of paying £50, or more! MPs from a privileged background and anyone working in a business where lots of money is casually spent show a similar delusion to reality. Designer clothes are 'cheap' to them and holidays abroad are taken for granted.

Jesus Christ said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” (Mark 8:35 -38)
