I had to sort out my parents' house when they died and more recently cleared my own old books and diaries. Ii scanned a fair bit. My childless uncle tape recorded his 1930s/40s poems and posted them to my father in the 1980s. My father had the tapes typed up and I scanned and published them in a book in 2019 and was also able to upload some to my uncle's page on a family tree software on line along with some of his hard to read letters. If people are connsidering throwing away some of those kinds of things for an old relative to think about spending say 15 minutes scanning a few items and uploading them on line for posterity along with a photo as there may descendants later or the wider family who would like to see them.

It never makes sense to add the unit cost to the profits. In a sense they should take off what they have paid to date on storage surely?

One of my family members done this, and I got to learn more about my family that have passed on who I unfortunately never got to meet, and photos of my grandparents when they were younger that even my mom hadn’t seen before. It was amazing and you could see the love that my grandparents had for each other and some of the fun things they done in their youth. We got to plan a reunion and meet some of these family members and see more photos of our great grandparents and everything. It was nice to meet them. Before the reunion we would see each other at funerals and we had no idea that I was a great neice, or any kind of blood relatives we were. It was a wild, wonderful time when we seen the people in albums and we were like wow! Because we met them and now knew who they were. Unfortunately a lot of them have passed on, but it was awesome to meet them and know them for the short time we did, and I can now tell my children all about them. ❤️

We don't know if they have children, but the grand father memories should go to them... My Mum never declutter anything after the death of my Dad 25years ago, now she passed away, and I have to declutter 3 generations of stuff, wish me good luck! include my stuff also... My God

Good luck. I was pleased my parents had a bit of stuff (not much as another aunt had swooped and taken a lot when my grandmother died). I think it is worth keepig one or two items for children and grandchildren and certainly scanning photos and writing material for future generations.

Making a shadow box(s) of photos, items and a description can save some memories for future generations. Military members save photos and award ribbons in shadow boxes to share the memories too.

I would never sell those paintings and instead keep them in my house and tell my children that their grandparents was the one who bought this. People in the old days had great hobbies and I would love my children to know about art.

No wonder the son is sentimental, if the father kept getting rid of his things. 🙄

The ladies I think they were smart not to let the show, auction everything at once. They were smart!! I don't trust these people!! Like the painting..REALLY!!? When those sold, that "professional antiques guy that works for the show. He was happier then anyone else 🤔 I've seen him sell rare items worth thousands for a few hundred before..like the teapots!!! And they act like they changed them from being hoarders. All they do is help them sell, sell, sell!!

Bev with regards Sons and Opie dying, my daughter was addicted to the show and when Opie died she was so pinged off. Next day she was out in the car and had stop at the lights when a bike pulled up beside her, she looked at the rider and she just near passed out causecfor a moment she thought it was Opie, she must of voiced it and he must of been able to read her lips cause he burst out laughing, (must of been up on the. Show too), it was rather funny listening to her telling me...poor Opie

As a Clinical Psychologist, I often watch videos for professional reasons. Often, I hear people either vocalising or writing the same "words, phrases, etc., as others seemingly without first giving thought to what they are saying or going to say. One example is the number of people, so-called "celebrity" chefs, housewives, and the like, and wannabe chefs, etc., using "combine" in their recipes. Added to that is the word "delicious". The English language has a multitude of synonyms that could be used. In fact, both are used incorrectly. Delicious is for taste, not sight or smell and can easily be replaced. Words other than combine can be used. One preference, for me, is "thoroughly mix (or mixed ) together". For example, many write or say, "In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar, then mix together". Get what I mean? How many times have you heard the words "I think", or "you think", when the person voicing such a comment does not know how to do so. In this video, from 3:24 until 5:47, I heard "I/we think" no less than eight times and there were more to come. 'nuf sed.
