Yes, they said that she was "dead to them", do maybe they should be "dead to her." Matt sounds like he could be (or is) a violent person. He thinks he is smart because he speaks well (commonly mistaken to equal the same thing), but he can barely contain his rage. Lauren, being the victim of her egg donor and sibling's abuse for decades, can pick up on the subtle shifts of behavior like that, which is why she made a remark about Matt touching her shoulder. Every time she got under his skin, he did that. That was a warning shot. He was basically saying, "if nobody else was here to see this, I could hurt you badly." I know she cares about them, which is a hallmark trait of abused people. They have all of the empathy, while their abusers have none. She needs to see a therapist too, to learn how to let these toxic biological relatives die in filth if they want to. She owes them nothing. They are terrible people who, quite frankly, deserve to suffer a little.

I can’t explain my absolute contempt and disgust for sherry and Matt ... they were so horrible to Lauren for no reason, like they literally hated her for making a well needed call for a wellness check out nothing but love and care.... they just genuinely seem like terrible people throughout the entire episode.

It's because they are bad people. It's as simple as that. I know the psychologist has to believe (or at least pretend to) that these people can better themselves, but realistically speaking, almost none of them will or even try to do so. Just as with Carol from the previous episode, I knew that Sherry (and Matt) weren't going to change. Hoarding was only one of their mental illnesses. It seems like narcissism and hoarding go hand in hand. The way they treat Lauren is abusive in nature, and a lot of narcissistic families single out one child as the scapegoat (Lauren), and another as the Golden Child (Matt.) But even with the Golden Child, they have to obey certain rules to keep that station. When Lauren said that she thinks Matt enables their egg donor because he fears that she won't love him anymore if he doesn't, he got SUPER defensive, which basically proves that it's true.

Not sure if everyone watched this full episode but Sherry and Matt are the most hateful and ungrateful human beings I have ever seen. Sherry horrifically demeaned her daughter throughout the episode, she also failed to take advantage of aftercare, failed to maintain the house, failed to follow through with additional repairs, and rehoarded the home. Hoarding is actually the most pleasant thing about this mother and son duo.

Matt’s reaction to the updated house was the most ungrateful thing I’d heard. Didn’t even say thank you like Sherry. Just said “this is more than I expected.” And Lauren had more gratitude than the two combined, and it wasn’t even her gift! And how delusional are the two, thinking their thrifted electronics will rack them $80k. I think this is more than a hoarding disorder. There is something seriously wrong with their psychology.

I felt so sorry for the way the mother treated her daughter and the brother too. I think the daughter is so strong and basically reminded her mother of her shame. Seeing the two of them on tape I hope the daughter realizes she needs to let go and accept that her mother is just never going to be the person she could be. Stop accepting the abuse and walk away.

The son acts like his mom is his wife or something. What do they do for income? He said she doesn’t pay the mortgage in full. It was so sad how they treated their sister/daughter. She should just wash her hands of them and move on. Sometimes you have to cut family off and keep going. I’m sure she can find a better family and friends. And if the mom didn’t want kids why doesn’t she feel the same way about her son? It seemed like the son had the same clothes on throughout the whole episode. How do they even bathe? The son and mother need a lot of mental help.

Feel so bad for Lauren. I watched this one tonight I came here specifically to say that Matt and Sherry deserve each other. They were so awful and abusive to Lauren and the entire crew that came out TO HELP THEM. They genuinely seem like horrible people and I almost wish the team wouldn’t have wasted their time and money on them. And it REALLY bothered me how Matt put his hands on people to “Pat” them. Wow, what a bitter hateful “mother.” I feel so sorry for Lauren to have to have been raised by that witch. My dear sweet mother is 88 years old now. She had 4 kids, had to bury two, an 8 year old daughter and a 60 year old son. Now there is only me and my older sister and we share the care of our mom. She is so sweet and precious, I cannot ever recall a time that she was mean or used hurtful words. We are so lucky to have her and I wish everyone could experience the kind of maternal love that we have been blessed to have.

I live about 5-6 miles from this house. Wheeling has SO many beautiful old homes with rich woodwork. She’s in an area where architects & a few other professionals have restored houses for their offices. That area in general is sadly one of the “poorer” areas of our town, but they’re still beautiful homes.

This restored my faith in reality TV being real because you couldn't pay an actor to treat someone as horrible as Matt does his sister FOR NO REASON AT ALL. I don't like to throw insults often but Matt is a real P.O.S. The majority of hoarders have mental health issues that range from mild to severe; no one in their right mind would choose to live like this. It would be very interesting to visit these homes a year later, especially if the people do not get any psychological therapy.

I always think, "The pill was around, so why didn't you use it? Once those kids are concieved, why even mention it?" NO SURPRISE! One of my first jobs ever was at a daycare. One of the teachers there was a hoarder and she and her kids would be covered in ROACHES. So disgusting. Her church cleaned her house out three different times. As soon as they got it set up for her and the kids, she'd go right back and do the same thing again. She was so gross. Grossly filthy. She'd just laugh about it.

For anyone else who watched this episode, did you find it strange that the show mentioned that Sherry needed to focus on finding a "job"? Didn't I hear during the first part of the episode that she's nearly 70. God bless her for simply being able to climb over the mountains of trash. But why are we not focusing on the fully able-bodied son on becoming employed. Does anyone find it strange how he was surprised how the house was worse after being in California for two years? If that was true, that means for two years you barely, if at all, visited your own mother. And how can you leave for a few years and move back in without being any sort of assistance. Ugh...this whole family needs counseling.

These are the kind of people that don’t deserve this awesome gift. And then the son, “OK, well, this is a start...” He sounded like = This a start, but you could have done more for us. Yuck! At the end they made little to no progress it was revealed that Sherry cluttered up her basement again when they were suppose to do repairs for power and water! I feel like she somewhat did that on purpose. Even after everything Lauren still got dragged in the dirt. Matt still let Sherry invest in her obsession again, probably treated Lauren bad because her feared that she would take all of the attention. Matt still didn't move out because he's too attached to his awful one sided "mother" during the episode telling Sherry to keep the stuff but to others he said throw it away just because he doesn't want to deal with it later. For what?

Lauren, if you happen to see this message I just wanted to tell you that it was always my mother sister & me & I promise I was treated almost the same way you are to this day & im now 62. Hopefully it will change for you but unfortunately it hadn’t for me. I think your hearts in the right place & so is your attitude & I think in some kind of way they resent the genuine heart, kindness & affection you have. They know they’re not like that & that’s why they treat you like the second class person your not. My heart goes out to you & I admire the way you don’t let go. This episode left me in tears. I had to force a clean up on my mom and little sisters and they were so upset with me for so long so I understand where Lauren is coming from 100%. I was the bad guy for so long and it hurt me to a point where I wanted to take my own life. Thankfully we’ve all overcome and have healed but it is not easy growing up like this and when you express it you become the bad guy! Oh how some of you have no idea 😭

I get that hoarding is a psychological disorder and can come with other disorders, but it is hard to sympathize with them at times. I wish all the hoarders are able to live a safe and healthy life after the show. If anything, watching this show reminds me to keep my house as neat/organized as possible - not perfect but to never let it get out of hand but that is in the eye of the beholder as we have seen with this show.
