Perhaps move everything away from the walls, then tape up signs with your categories (Christmas, gift wrap, husband sentimental, your sentimental, crafts, garage sale) in various sections along your walks. Then move those bins to those areas. Then as you work from middle to out, you can put what you have sorted in the proper section. Once you have gone through all the stuff in the middle, it means you have sorted everything at least once. Then you can work on your craft area.

From somebody who’s the opposite of a hoarder it’s incredibly educational to listen to you mentally working through your thoughts of decluttering and keeping, setting aside for later or talking about your reasons for making your decisions! I hope you give yourself lots of love and hugs for all the tough work you put in and know that what you are doing is incredible brave! My small tip of the day is for you to remove any labels on storage bins that were placed by the store, your tags on them are fine but the storage labels tend to keep things looking cluttered even though they’re stored in neatly stacked boxes.
@serenaschnepper64382 жыл бұрын
You said at the beginning of the video, "in middle school, my stuff saved me", and that's why it was hard emotionally to see the hoard disappearing. I'd just like to say, the stuff didn't save you. You saved yourself. The stuff was just one tool in your toolbox, and you've replaced it with so many better ones. Your progress is amazing! 💖

Pepper is a great Decluttering Manager. I have to go slow in my decluttering of items that I have accumulated over the last 25 years. I have so many items to declutter and I find items that should go with other items...trying to organize the item's. I get the urge to declutter one day and begin to declutter and a day later I feel sad about having to lose a lot of items. Ms Heart I applaud your efforts to go slow in your declutter of items. Thanks so much for showing your patience to us in your videos when decluttering .

When a new video of yours comes in, I get that physical panic feeling - even though it’s _you_ decluttering! Then after a day or so I calm down, and I can watch it, and I get to watch your method once again, and share a bit in the pleasure you get from clearing another section. I am hoping this will soon help give me the wherewithal to make a start on my own small section (paper!!!) & feel proud of my own progress & healing. 💞

I’m my heart, I know you this is best for you 💕💕 By watching the videos, it gives you a chance to see that it was okay after a Decluttering session. We are rewiring our brains to recognize that Decluttering is good, not setting off panic attacks. You can also envision yourself Decluttering your paper pile too!!! Play that reel in your head that you let go of the papers and you felt great about!!! The more we play those mental reels that Decluttering is okay, it becomes less scary and we take the action in real life. I will always cheer you on, I know the strength is within you!! Oxoxo 🦄💜🙏🏻🌟

I find it really interesting, seeing you go for the untouched piles. I think getting out of your comfort zone is great and I think as you declutter, once youve been through EVERYTHING once, it will be easier and less to sort through, next big declutter. The boxes and recycling is gone, the items are sorted. It's nice seeing everything fall into place :)

Every time you come across Christmas decor have been wanting to mention what I did with my Christmas hoard. I put the year on the label when I used those decorations. When you say "I'll declutter it eventually " it always makes me wonder whether that is actually the end goal. Cause you don't have to declutter everything, you just gotta reduce the stuff you have to the things you need and love. And if that includes a stained puma jacket, well, so be it. As long as it holds value for you, it is worth keeping.
@Warrrkotka2 жыл бұрын
You always have an attic ;P Jokes aside I remember when you would check and touch everything inside that box and now you were able just look at it casually and don't stress so much about it (also don't loose so much energy on it). That just shows you came a long way. I'm so happy for you.

Would it help you to consider that your stash is curated and organised as opposed to shrinking? You still have an abundance and you can actually access thing when you need them. When you get down to the very end there's no reason you couldn't keep 2x 10 boxes stashed inside each other, half a box of mailers and half a box of neatly folded plastic bags. You still have enough stuff AND enough to share in every category you had before. It's just organised and accessible now.

Less is more. This is so cliché but so true. It seems like the more you declutter the more we find out about you, your personality and your memories. Through all of that stuff we know that you will immediately declutter the boxes but put away the christmas stuff and the pony stuff. Thanks to your videos we had the chance to get to know you! I think that grouping stuff to decide at a later stage is so wise right now. You don’t know how many of sentimental items you got right now. Of course everything you think of throwing will make you uncomfortable. You still don’t know how to feel about them yet. But now you know what is the feeling you have when you see an empty box. It takes time to identify the feeling and the need to hold on to it. Maybe when you go through your photos you’ll see that you wore that sweatshirt so many times that you will feel safe to let it go because those memories are reachable and will never be forgotten. Thank you for your efforts! I love Fridays more thanks to you^^ I also love that Pepper came into your life. You have now such a different, confident and glowing energy when she’s around you💜🐈⬛

I think the key to convincing your husband to follow your lead is to sketch up a plan for a new "man cave" that could be created in the basement once it's totally decluttered. Each family member could have their own space in the basement-your husband the man cave, your son the play area, and you the craft space.

Girl you’ve still got the attic to go through! Going through the basement once is not the end of your journey. You also have several big konmari declutters/ organizations. So I promise you will still find things that make you feel safe. Even if you get rid of nothing from here on out just knowing WHERE everything is will give you peace of mind. Think of your sentimental bins. Think of filling another one or even getting a whole shelf to display all your childhood treasures.

Another suggestion for your hubby since he’s private and camera shy is to record his process without getting his face! Similar to how you record the declutters with your children. If he does not want to speak on camera I think you would do a lovely job of doing the voice over to explain why he decluttered or kept certain items! Best of both worlds 🥰

I bet hubby will be thrilled to declutter off camera inte there is more floor space and you qre sure that all his tubs are in the same spot. You can just take a before and after picture of his tubs/shelf, you don't even have to show his tossy pile id it feels to private for him. Yay, you were doing great! 💜 And you are not yet getting rid of your hoard, everything of value you have kept so far! The things you let go of were things that kept you from seeing your real treasures, and some of this clutter was even becoming a hazard to you and your children - some by being moldy, and some could injure them if they tripped over them. All of your important possessions are being selected and stored well in bins and boxes, so you can find them more easily. If your anxiety tells you that you are loosing your security blanket, just walk over and open the box with your dalmatians, or your college clothes, or even your boys baby things. You were reading this and knew immediately where these boxes are? THAT is why you are doing all of this work! Because you don’t have to dig through mailers and cardboard boxes and hope to find a little pony to soothe your panic, but you can calmly walk to the basement and open a tub with memorabilia before full panic mode even started. I am so very proud of you and your journey, Miss M!❤️🩹

I think it’s great that you’re able to heal in your hoarding and remind yourself that claiming your space is a safe thing to do. Rationally, also, you can remind yourself that you haven’t sacrificed your things; you have kept many treasures from childhood and maybe when you’re feeling like you’re at a loss, you could go over to one of your bins where you have some real treasures of nostalgia and remind yourself that you have plenty.
