HOAT OR OAT?

Not sure what kind of coolant you have in your Jeep? is it HOAT or OAT?

I have a 2012. I am hesitant on putting coolant in, I honestly don't want to mess it up. I also noticed the distilled water and you have been the only smart person on youtube who has done this. It needs distilled water so there will be no more mineral deposits inside. That is as important as buying the right coolant! cool video but still unsure about my 2012 jeep wrangler jk sahara 4 door.

My used '12 FIAT 500 that I bought a year ago had what looked to me, orangish coolant in it. After reading & reading, I concluded it had the original HOAT coolant in it at 128k miles. I flushed it all out a week ago with 6 radiator drain & water refills & filled it with Prestone's (any make, any model) 300,000 mile / 10 year antifreeze/coolant, which is an OAT coolant. Yellow in color with a green tint. I figure I'm good to go for quite a while.

Hello! Congrats for the video!! Im trying to find out what type of coolant is suitable for my Dodge Caliber. The Manuals mentions HOAT (specifically Mopar, but I live in Europe and cant find it). Can you please recommend some HOAT brands that I can find (relatively easy) and buy? Thank you very much!

What year is your Caliber ?

From what I can tell, it looks like all years of the Caliber were given yellow 50/50 HOAT. I would look for a yellow HOAT with good ratings where you live. Just make sure it is HOAT and not OAT

@@feelthemachine8679 I've found here in Greece a coolant named "COMMA Xsteam G05". It mentions it is approved by Chrysler (MS-9769). Could you please tell me if it is suitable for my Dodge Caliber 1.8 2009? Should I be careful of its colour? Thank you very much!

How about early 2000s Chryslers that used the Orange coolant. Is that HOAT or something that pre-dates it. What do I use to top it off with since MOPAR only makes Pink HOAT now? Should I go to another band..... Thanks

Pls do not follow the colors of coolants. Read desciptions. Colors aren't 1:1 with a type OAT or HOAT. Color may be misleading!

You are absolutely right. It is only a help aid in very specific models which used very specific coolants.

Any way thnx for video - it hepls. In Europe top classification is by G11, G12, G12++ G13 types - is I know taken from VAG Group. Older ones are OAT and the latest are SiOAT what is recognized as HOAT (name HOAT in know by US car users "only'). Some producers say that it is no problem in mixing both types... . There's a big mess in Europe with it. When I read tech. specifications some G12++&G13 are OAT & some SiOAT... Time to open the garage.:) Anyway very soon Putin will straighten all incompatibilities... First in UA next in PL...

Hey, thanks for the info! I've got a 2011 jeep patriot and need to top off the coolant. My manual says to use Mopar HOAT but all I could find was OEM which is orange but the coolant leftover in my reservoir looks to be yellow! Help!!! The OEM says it's compatible with OAT, POAT and HOAT but now I'm really not sure if I should use it. Any advice??

Yellow 50/50 is what came from manufacturer of 2011 Jeep patriot.

Hope that helps. Oreillys or another part store can get you exactly a yellow pre mix or self mix coolant you need. But yes they came with yellow in the Patriot Jeeps.

From what I understand yellow is HOAT,,, with that said I would avoid mixing colors as it may lead to confusion later

Why is your lead in so loud, then you whisper. PS 4:07 HOAT has some of the metal preservatives of IAT and should last longer than OAT. Both are generally rated 5 years 150K miles. You can find manufacturors that will rate both for 10 years, too. I do know that usually new cars have a high mileage and long life for initial service, then recommend changing twice as often. For example, 10 years 120K miles, then every 5 years 60K miles. I also know that like Prestone and others will do 15 years 300K miles or 10 years 150K miles and refuse to say whether they are OAT, HOAT, P-HOAT. But they are mainly who will have a receipt in 10 or 15 years that is not faded and can be associated to that car and how much is a 20 to 25 year old car worth because I see a used car dealer trade-in price buried in the text with lots of legal loopholes.
