Zitouna Mosque is the second oldest mosque in Tunisia and from it was born the first university in the world, “Zaytouna University”. The Carthaginian columns were taken from Carthaginian sites to build the mosque. The first mosque in Africa was the Uqba bin Nafi Mosque in Kairouan, Tunisia. It is called the fourth of the three. After Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem comes Kairouan

UNESCO and others claim that the 'University of al-Qarawiyyin' in Fes, Morocco is the oldest. There have been plenty of places of higher education in human history even as far back as the ancient Egyptians but it depends on the definition of 'university' which scholars can't seem to agree on. It's an interesting debate to research.

Tunisia is not small and it's not tiny, it's bigger than Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland combined, it just looks small on a map cuz it's tucked between Algeria and Libya, the first and second biggest countries in Africa. Algeria and Libya have much larger deserts so in terms of habitable/farmable area Tunisia is not far behind Algeria and has more space (and habitants) than Libya. Please stop spreading this myth about Tunisia it's irritating and a bit disrespectful!

Am 100% sure that ure wife has Tunisian roots because Potugal and Spain where part of Al Andalus (that territory name when it was under islamic state back in 700s to 1400s) in fact muslim people migrated to Al Andalous(spain and portugal now) where mostly from north africa (Tunisia-Algeria-Morrocco) and thats why spanish and portugues people have little bit of similiarity in face to north africans ! in fact alot of spanish and potruguese words derived from Arabic like Assassino (Hashashim)-Açúcar (As-Suqar)-Álcool (Al-Kuhul)-Bairro (Al-Barri)-Cabide (Al-Qabbid)-Mesquinho (Al-Miskin) :D and finally i hope u had a great in tunisia but u only saw 10% of its beauty

@@HobartsAbroadTo add up to the comment above. Yes, it is likely she has some moorish (andalucian) roots. Many Tunisians have moorish roots as well. If you liked the architecture, I advice you to visit the Great Mosque of Kairouan. Also, I was just in Andalucia now (I did Granada and Cordoba), and I am sure you ll like it and feel as you are traveling in time, back in the Islamic rule in Spain. PS: Cordoba is a twin city of Kairouan as the two great mosques are very similar in architecture.

The girl’s last name could hint to her ancestors origin .Many Tunisian families especially scholars and nobles relocated to Spain during Andalusian times and considering the fact that her last name is translated to « olive mosque « her first grandpa could be a scholar from the mosque (which was and still is a university as well and many prominent figures studied in it)

⛔️Stop laing🚫 The Tunisians 🇹🇳 have a rich history that spans thousands of years, and Tunisian 🇹🇳pottery is part of this heritage, with Sejnane pottery being listed as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. Tunisia🇹🇳 was never under Moroccan rule; on the contrary,🚫 Tunisia 🇹🇳was an important cultural and Islamic center.☝🏻 The city of Kairouan in Tunisia was a prominent Islamic capital and still holds its Islamic significance today☝🏻. The University of Ez-Zitouna in Tunisia is the oldest university in the Islamic world, founded in the 8th century and still teaching Islamic jurisprudence☝🏻. Tunisia 🇹🇳has also played a significant role in founding many Moroccan cities such as Fez, Marrakesh, and Rabat👌🏻, and its rich history attests to this. The Carthaginian Empire, centered in Tunisia🇹🇳, is a strong example of the ancient Tunisian 🇹🇳civilization that influenced the entire region. All these facts are documented and recorded, and Tunisia remains a land of civilizations with its preserved historical sites and monuments 🇹🇳🌶❤
