Hello there friends. Apologies first up, for the late uploading of this last part of the series. A family emergency kept me away from the modelling table. Anyway, so here it is. The last part of the Thunderbolt build. Enjoy :)

Have been doing the two seater,it’s turned out pretty good for me. Just arming it now so your method of doing the bombs as come in handy as I was doing it freehand and making a mess. Will just have to bite the bullet and mask them. Still won’t be as good as yours!

The paint job on the A10 is great. The paint job on the "fans",makes them look as though they are moving.

Very nice job. I wish you provided some details as you do in the videos of your airbrushing and the products you've used in your commentary and (music) credits section. I find myself having to hunt for the information. Please don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed binge watching all five parts of this build, I just wished I didn't have go searching for the brief mention of the information. Thank you.

I’m three years late to a video series this good?? Keep up the fantastic work sir, also I hear you mention something after ‘odorless’, but I’m not sure what you are referring to. I am just getting into modeling so knowing the terms of what to use and how to use it is beyond my knowledge, maybe you could explain to me what it is, without elaborating too much, I don’t want to impede by asking too many questions.
@scalemodellingmadness4114

Hi there. Firstly, thanks for watching the series and the encouragement :) The thing I was referring to was odourless thinner, also called "low odour thinner". These are general multi-purpose thinners used in model making. They are very useful and a must have. Some people use Zippo fluid for the same purpose as low odour thinners. I personally have not used it, so cannot comment. Also, please feel free to ask many questions as you need :) Lastly, here's a reference pic of a low odour thinner. www.artsupplies.co.uk/item-daler-rowney-low-odour-thinner.htm

Loved your shading, pre and post - well done. A-10 would not however fly with external fuel tank and then with bombs.

Thanks mate. A few days later, the fuel tank fell off on its own. I guess even the plastic kit could not tolerate my blunder....lol.

amazing job! well done! only thing I spotted is that you used 2 ECM pods, A-10 just use one normally on the right side, in the left often you see one pair of sidewinders. keep it up the good work!

@scalemodellingmadness4114 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Cesar. I will replace the pod on the left wing. The kit does have sidewinders (I think) will load those up. Thanks again.

Really nice work. I love the burnt metal effect on the engine blades. The work you did on the armament is beautiful as well. 2 questions: does that masking fluid smell like pee? I came stand the ammonia smell. Also, how long did you wait to make sure the Mr surfacer was dry, before spraying acrylic over it? I read that lacquer based paint emits gasses until total dry. These emissions can ruin the Tamiya top coat. What are your thoughts?
@scalemodellingmadness4114
@scalemodellingmadness4114 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Zlee. The masking fluid I am using in this video, Mr Masking, does not smell of ammonia. It's safe for you to use :) However, the more generic masking fluids (specially the ones used to mask paintings/these are usually white) do have a pungent odour, so I would avoid those. As for drying time, I usually do not touch the kit for a couple of hours after applying any kind of paint, even quick drying acrylics. Not only does this give the paint a chance to dry properly, it also allows me to take a step back and review the work, and see if any corrections are needed. Often, I try to do major paint work in the evening so that I can leave the kit alone overnight. To answer your second question, I have used primers for several years and I found that the new primers (particularly those meant for modelling) are very good and if applied properly (a thin even coat) they dry after a couple of hours and do not spoil any subsequent paint work. Hope that helps. Cheers :)

I cant see or tell if a clear bluish green HUD display can be made and installed on the front of the canopy but that would be a nice touch of extra detail. Thats if you can see it ?

My question is this...I dont have the patience or time to sand all the raised body panel lines flush, then scribe panel lines . If I leave the raised lines will highlighting the raised lines work ok ? Btw you have very good taste in music .😎👍
@scalemodellingmadness4114
@scalemodellingmadness4114 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Harry, thanks for the comments. I am afraid recessed and raised panel lines act very differently. When dealing with raised panel lines, what I do is run a fine black or brown pencil along them to highlight them. It does make them pop out a little more but its time consuming and gets difficult in areas where there is fine work. But still it works and is an option to scribing tons of lines :)

@@scalemodellingmadness4114 Hey...thanx. I just bought 3 fine markers. Black, Med. Grey and light grey. I'm working on a 1/72 Monogram A10 and a Airfix Buccaneer Siddeley. SB2. I had a heck of a time referencing the 3 Colors for the buccaneer. I had to guess going by pictures. I was gonna do it in a desert storm version, maybe later on I do that. I have a huge selection of unbuilt " in the box" models I bought over 30 years ago When I managed a hobby shop in my area and I never got time to build them. My only regret I didn't collect 1/48 scale. Again thank you

They are not on tripods. They are clamped to flexible goose neck clamps, but you could use anything that gets them to stay in place on top of the work area. The software I use for editing is DaVinci Resolve. It is a free software and very good.

@scalemodellingmadness4114

Hi Keith, not all kits come with pilot figures. The ones that do, usually mention it clearly on the box cover. If your kit does not come with figures, you can always pick some up, as they are sold separately as well. Hope that helps :)

Amazing work. Just a request for your next video, if you could please do a display video of the kit before the photos, that would be really awesome. Maybe displaying it on a rotating display or just showing us the completed kit in the video by going over it with the camera, I would really love seeing that. In any case spectacular work mate.
