The board takes power from motor/ESC 1, but there is no need to remove the other power pins from the ESC's. I have built dozens of KK2 copters in every configuration and never had an issue. - Matt

You guys are correct, it's a 20 Amp max board. I tested the copter and I'm only drawing 19 Amps max and only for a fraction of a second at full throttle, the 30 Amp afros are total overkill. A direct harness would probably be better, but it's been fine so far and nothing on the copter gets at all warm in flight. My guess is that the distribution board is a bit under-rated. - Matt

Hello Matt. I get this question once a day on the chat system at HK. Which one of the ESC BEC servo leads does the KK2 get it power from? I assume only one is tapped (to avoid voltage/current loading). Does the builder have to remove all of the unused plus (red) center leads from the other 3 ESC BEC's?? thanks. Robert Veach HK PS # 4

Matt, an Idea I have had is for a kit with everything needed to make a bare bones quad using the SK450 frame. Are there any plans for that at HK? I am hesitant to go out and spend on something I have no idea if it is right or not. Great series. I have the quad itch now!

Awesome video! So much to learn. I would like to build my own SK450 like the one you built in this video. You listed some of the major parts. Do you have a complete list of everything you used? Some of the parts were on back order from Hobby King. Can you recommend alternative parts for the ones that are on back order? The frame, motors and ESC's are not available right now and from some of the past posts that seems common. Do you recommend the SK450 for a beginner? I'm dying to get started! :)

Hi! Now I'm trying on Vertical Take off and Landing(VTOL) RC aircraft with two motors each at the wing tip , which is referenced to Tom Stanton's VTOL V2. And I'm using that Hobby King KK 2.1 Flight controller board to stabilize the aircraft. I find it difficult with some settings. And I'm wondering if you could help me with that.

I have the TBS discovery knock off. It seems the arm configuration is the opposite of this one. Looks like the TBS has the front arms shorter instead of longer so would the same setup go for the TBS as this one . Any help would be appreciated. My first quad and I did it from scratch. Seems to be functioning well just cant get it stable and very new to the quad thing. Before this I only flew planes.LOL.. Thanks in advance for any help.

330mm dead kitten? I'll take one. The SK450 gets a bit bigger when you change to a deadcat. And how did he attach his headlight? Or how do you attach accessories to booms for that matter. Also, how did you cover up your power distributor to keep it from shorting accidentally by debrie? I slathered all the contacts with hot glue all over mine and keep wondering if there was a better way.

Hi Matt, I'm about to set out on my first quad build & would like some advice. I am going to go with SK450 (with Dead Cat upgrade), Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 motors & 10" props. I am going to use a KK2.1HC, & I'm contemplating using a Qbrain 4x25a rather then 4 x individual ESC's. I noticed watching all your videos that you have never used the Qbrain on any of your builds & was wondering why? Is it an inferior setup as opposed to 4 x 30a Afro's?

I have the same props, motor and mount kit. None of the spacer rings fit exactly. The closest fit barely goes over the thread of the mount kit if I screw it on. How do you get the props all the way down? Just force it with prop nut or do you drill them out a bit?

ive been having trouble with getting mt kk2 to fly right, ive been using normal turnigy plush 30A esc's. i have ordered some 30A afro esc's, will these make a big difference? or should i have no trouble with plush esc's?

I have a f450 frame, 1000kv motors, x configuration, simonk 30a esc, kk2.1.5, I have tried absolutely everything but every time I try to take off it wants to flip to the right. what should i do.

Check if your motor leads are connected to the KK board in the right order, that was my problem. Had to find the solution on my own sadly... Also check if your props are put on correctly (CW, CCW).

My KK2 quadcopter that I built with parts from hobby king two or three years ago was never able to fly and I try again to get it to work every couple of months. When ever I try to fly it, on take off it flips and sometimes in random directions and it turns in random directions. I have all the right types of blades and they are spinning in all the right directions, I have calibrated everything, and updated the firmware. Please help.
