This is really amazing! I know the commercial devices that perform this function (complex devices with lots of electronics) and seen also very old schematics that made something similar but also, with much more electronics! It is very surprising that the magnet can be maintained over the electromagnet (repusion) in such a simple way! I'm really surprised! Thanks for sharing this information.

Let me see if I can figure out the principle of operation. It appears to me that as the magnet gets close to the hall sensor, it causes the hall sensor to have and output which turns on the transistor. Both the coild and the ring magnet below has its opposite pole to the suspended magnet so therefore it should get sucked down, attracted and not float.

Thanks. The nail was used for balancing purpose. Without this the levitating magnet wasn't stable, tends to rotate around, flipping itself and attracts to the ring magnet.

I think the idea is to create a magnetic feild with it. So just about any gage wire should work, but may require more or less windings which you can do by trial and error starting with more than less.

@Hobby Projects Hi Hobby Projects, Recently I discovered your informative site. I am a hobbyist and I find almost all your projects novel and interesting. After watching your video, I have successfully completed the magnetic levitation project in which a neodymium magnet is suspended under the coil. This I managed to do without using an arduino or any other microcontroller. Now I am trying the project in which a magnet floats over the coil. My problem is, the neodymium magnet does not remain stable over the coil; it always flies away and gets stuck to the ring magnet. The size of the ring magnet I am using is 90x36x15mm while what you have used is 100x57x20mm. Is the smaller inner diameter (36mm instead of 57mm) the main reason for my problem? Looking forward to your suggestions that will help me to complete the project. Thanks.
@JayElectroTech Жыл бұрын
I think neodymium magnets are too powerful for this type of simple system, this type of simple System cannot control it, use smaller neodymium magnets or feraid magnets.
@igxniisan69964 жыл бұрын
The linear hall sensor allows to adjust by continuous loop but only vertically, what about the instability of other axis? It is hard for me believe, because atleast 3 or 4 coils would be needed to achieve stability in the repulsive levitation... Explain me.... I don't understand the physics here, it's weird...
@ozymandiasking1733 жыл бұрын
im a little confused too. i hate to suggest this video is fake and that the circuit you claim your using isnt true but i have a hard time believing this. the transistor switches power on/off to the electromagnet and this is controlled by the hall sensor, right? while the electromagnet (el.mag for short) is on it should repel the floating magnet assuming the el.mag is an aircored solenoid. If the el.mag has a core (like iron or steel whatever) then the dl.mag should attract and pull the floating magnet. If we forget about the electromagnet for a second, lets talk about the relationship betweeen the ring magnet and the floating magnet. In the position shown in your diagram the small magnet will experience both a force of repulsion and attraction due to the unique field shaping of the flux lines of the ring magnet and how it differs from the shape of the field that encompassed the smaller magnet. the ring magnet and small cylinder magnet, due to the difference in the shape of their fields, if you arrange the poles like it shows in the schem, the lines of flux within these fields arrange themselves in a way that creates a sort of 'pocket' or 'node' in the space above the ring magnet that the small magnet can almost 'rest' on but its not stable enough to lock the small magnet in place. the smaller magnet will experience and force of pull in all directions horizontal to the plane of face of the ring magnet. it will also experience a force of repulsion along the vertical y axis in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the forcd of pull. With just this setup the magnet will not sit still in this spot and is pulled to the side and towards the ring magnets surface.

@@ozymandiasking173 The coil dont reppel the magnet .The reppeling force comes to the ring magnet, and the coil atract the magnet and it balanced with hall sensor,Look in diagram and you will see south pole of the coil atract north pole of the magnet.

Very, very nice project! 1) Why must the electromagnet be an 'air core' ? Why not solid core?
@hobbyprojects6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I had tried it by using Iron core but found the better result with air core electromagnet. The levitation distance was effected by the iron core. Sometime the levitating magnet sticks to the iron core randomly.
@AngryHybridApe3 жыл бұрын
@@hobbyprojects Exactly. The ferrous magnet creates one field while the electromagnet creates an opposite field. The two combined creates a conflict. Repelling, keeping it away. But attracting, making it not leave. If the center of the electro magnet had an iron core, it would change the field and either push it to one side and down or pull it in and down.

i buid both , it works so beautiful , sometimes there is a different character diagramm of hallsensors or mosfets , the simpliest and garnatie that s it is works , it s need a trigger poti between gate and source by the mosfet( 1k) or resistor at last ,, with this you set the trigger with it , so all hall and mos are work , the 1 K resistor do not work by every parts , with this you can find also the trigger moment , the second resistor is then for protection for the hall ,,,,,,,,, i say thank you , special for the standing levitation prinzip !

how much current your levitation is using ,,, by the coil with 26 ohm and 12 volt. i have just 7 Ohm coil and 300mah current /12volt ,my coil is centert in a Aluminium stick , so that i can ajust the coil niveau very easy (high&down ) , it works very stabil with 8mm levitation distance , i am very happy for this challenge ,and fight for it till it s done , i look myself to make a video for this cute pretty very cool new update 2019 device , fully reduction prinzip , but it must said , it s more heavy to build it , than the hang version , remark : my version circuit is identical with yours , but without the 5 Volt IC stabi , so one part less , it do not need the 5 volt stabi .

Total 220ma by the 26 Ohm Coil and 5 Volt IC
@josephqaqish25985 жыл бұрын
@@hobbyprojects thank you , yes , the 5 volt ic is better for the hall , because it get hot by 14 volt , the coil eat much , but all is nevermind at all , if we want , we will find the right dimensions for low current , what at first counts is just , that this device works with wondering of it , remarkable is ,that the resistor is not critical ,, it can used also from 1k till 470 k ohm , every one , i think also , every hall and mosfet can used , my best regards to you . with your inspiration here my video , hope for enjoy kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpy7eY2Me7moqtU

Without nail the magnet can levitate
@AngryHybridApe3 жыл бұрын
Not likely. The magnet would probably flip over and drop. With the nail on the magnet, the nail is magnetized and helps create the opposing field.
