Hobbywing 150 Amp V5 ESC - Spool Up on VBar Gov

This is a quick look at the spool up of the Hobbywing 150 Amp V5 ESC under firmware 4.08 running on the VBar gov.
I set the ESC up using the Heli Linear settings in the ESC. This provides direct throttle response with a soft spool up feature which works well with the V Bar Neo Gov.

I am running the Hobbywing 120a esc and using Vbar Gov and the pass off from one to the other is very abrupt with a big tail kick and jump in headspeed. I am running the latest 4.0.07-vbar with all the esc parameters on default setting except the BEC which is at 8v. They dont seem to have 4.08 for this esc so with that said what parameter do I adjust to lessen the jump in headspeed during pass off?

I’d like to know too, I’ve got a 120a also and the VBAR telemetry was telling me I had spikes of 190a! I don’t know if the telemetry is correct but I really don’t fly my Logo 550 THAT hard. I had that same tail kick when I tried VBAR gov and switched back immediately. I should have bench tested it instead of in flight, but the belt isn’t missing any teeth and everything is still smooth. Those 150a ESC’s are looking nice

Hey, first off thanks for the helpful vids. I just bought a new 150 HW from HD. It will not connect to the HW pc software, nor the lcd program box. Without these tools its doa. I setup a 120 last week, it went perfectly. I guess I should have tried to set it up before installing in a new build. Any ideas? Thanks buddy

What FBL are you flying? I fly the Mikado NEO and EVO FBL units. I found that if I leave the telemetery cable plugged into the FBL and plug the program box cable into the tele cable the units do connect. I hae to unplug the telemetry cable so the prog box only sees the ESC. Let me know.

Have they sorted out the issue with autorotation bailout? It seemed a lot of people were saying the Hobbywing ESC with VBAR gov would give you either a soft spool up with smooth bank transitions or auto bailout… but not both. For that reason I’ve been using gov store mode on my HW200a V4.1’s and the rpm’s are kinda all over the place.

제가 이번에 raw580을 700로터로 개조해서 하비윙 150A변속기를 넣을려고 합니다. 자이로는 v bar neo를 쓰고요. 컷없이 잘 작동할수 있을까요? 6s 5.000ma 밧데리를 사용할려 합니다.

Provided the motor physically fits, the Hobbywing 150 amp V5 ESC is rated to 8S and should be more than capable. I run the HW 130 on my XL power 700 V2 electric with no issues. We have seen where people have their motor cut out in flight and have found the cause is generally a bad solder joint on the motor leads. Good luck with your build.
