Another cheap but high quality and one of the best motors out there, priced at 100 USD, has arrived in my home and is ready to be tested. The Hobbywing Max6 1650kv 4985 (49mm x 85mm) brushless motor with 5700 WATTS of power!!! Capable of 6s lipo as stated in the manual, but can actually handle 8s lipo! 60,000 max rpm! And is really heat efficient because it does not heat up that much despite the load and stress from a 7kg rc car.
This motor is very good for bashing, speed runs, and even track racing in any 1/6 scale cars down to some 1/10 scales.

Agreed, brother. 👍 Just take note that 8s is only for a short period. It's not advisable to bash it for 30 mins straight. I've seen lots of people burning the bearings, rotor, or even the whole motor itself from running on 8s for a bit longer.. Bash on, brother! 💪

Yes. True. The 49mm x 85mm motor has 1650kv and 5mm shaft. Good for 8th scale to 6th scale RC cars. On the other hand, the 56mm x 87mm is much bigger. But lower kv at 1100. It has much bigger 8mm shaft as well. It is good for 5th scale and 6th scale cars.

Did you have to make any mods in order to fit the MAX6 & the HW 1650KV IN THE LIMITLESS? Whats your Personal best speed record on 6s w/ this set up?
@ianbudgetrc2574

Hi thanks for watching. The Max6 and 1650kv motor fit with slight mod. To run with stock gearing 27/34, u'll need to grind the side of the motor a bit for it to not hit the center spur gear's drive Cup. Additionally, I haven't tried 6s on this. But there shouldn't be big difference. On 6s this could go 90mph theoretically.

Nice test but I'd like to add that you're letting off the throttle too early. You can hear that neither motor revved the gearing out fully. Stay in it a bit longer (3 seconds wide open) and your mph will rise

Thank you for the tips sir. The only thing that limits me from pushing it for 3 seconds more is that my DumboRC tx/rx have delays past 50 metres.. Im scared to crash. Maybe soon I'll try again with a new radio RC6GS. I should be able to maximise the speed

Hey Ian Budget😎 so with the max6 combo 1650kv what’s a good bashing gear for 6&8s bashing mostly 8s I think stock infraction n oils at the moment Right now he’s on 23t and 61c end of 8s bash parking lot no fan or heat sink but that’s great for 8s but not so good for 6s or would it be best to keep stock gearing for bashing 18t v1 infraction or maybe go with the latest 16t gearing So I still have low down horsepower 😎🎯
@ianbudgetrc2574
@ianbudgetrc2574 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried an infraction yet. But based on the specs. Its diff pinion ratio is faster than the limitless. Although it's pinion/spur ratio is much slower. Overall, the infraction is slower, but it has more torque and acceleration. Best for bashing. This max6 esc + 1650kv combo is fine with 23 tooth pinion and 46t center diff. No fan needed if run on 4s or 6s. But be careful. Never bash it on 8s. It could set the car ablaze.. This combo withstood my 27t pinion/34t spur badging on 4s without overheating. Your gearing of 23/46 should be more than fine. If you want to be more confident, you can put 1 fan on the 1650kv motor

Thanks for watching brother. I think, with 50t center diff, you can put 23 or 24 tooth pinion. I have tried 23/50 and it looks there is a bit more space like 1mm for 1 more tooth which is 24t.

Hello. cool video! One question: does the motor mount of the 4274 motor also fit on the 4985 motor or does it need a different mount? Would like to upgrade but am not sure if I can attach this motor to my original bracket. I would appreciate a reply. Greetings!
@ianbudgetrc2574
@ianbudgetrc2574 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro. Yes. The one I am using is the stock motor mount for 4274 size motor. And the maximum size this stock mount can hold is 4985. For something bigger than 4985, for example 56110, you'd need to buy or machine a custom motor mount.

@@defg4484 I've just checked it out and it really looks like a typhon. But the insides are different. The first thing you need to consider is how high the motor suspends from the chassis floor. The Arrma motor mount is tall and can accommodate motors with big diameters such as 49mm for the 4985 motor I've checked your RC model and it seems to me that the motor mount is not that tall. I doubt if the 4985 diameter would fit there though.. Check it again.

@ianbudgetrc2574
@ianbudgetrc2574 3 жыл бұрын
This combo perfect for all 1/8 and 1/7 scales, for bashing and medium speed runs ( 70 to 100mph). But I advise not to use 8s on it at all times or you could burn the motor. 6s is safe. I only use 8s for a few passes. That's all. Then bash it on 4s, still freaking fast. Regarding the infraction, I doubt if you could reach 100mph with this max6 on 8s coz of some factors. Number 1, it is not aerodynamic. 2, it has low-speed gearing of 20 tooth pinion paired 40+ spur ali think. U need at least 27t pinion and 34t spur like the limitless

@ianbudgetrc2574
@ianbudgetrc2574 3 жыл бұрын
@@nolimitrc1 1100kv is nice. It is very strong that it might not need cooling fans, depending on the gearing.. But you would spend more on the motor coz it is more expensive. And you would need to buy a customized motor mount that costs a lot as well for it to fit into the infraction. (the max motor diameter the infraction can hold is 49mm, the 1100kv is 56 mm). And you would need to overgear your infraction like 40t pinion / 34t spur on is to get it to run 100 mph. But there's a another option that doesn't need you to spend that much. You can get the Max6 esc + SSS motor 4092 (40mm diameter x 92mm length) 2100kv with 27/34 gearing on 8s. You could reach 100mph with that or even more, then you could bash with it but you'd need cooling fans for it tho coz it's a smaller motor.

Yes, but I can't say it fits effortlessly. I showed it at the 08:22 mark in the video. Theres a tiny piece of plastic that blocks the motor from being mounted directly. Thank you for watching. It says 50,000 rpm. Theoretically, that would be achievable on 8s lipoor 30 volts. But the company says that this motor should only be run on 6s maximum. They don't advise 8s due to warranty conditions. but I have been running it on 8s with moderation and being careful all the time, watching the temperatures or else It would burn🔥. 60k rpm cap doesn't matter really. The Castle 1650kv motor would have around 49k rpm (no load) on 8s, just like this Hobbywing 1650kv. Castle uses high quality materials, and its bearings can withstand 60k rpm, while the Hobbywing only 50k. But surely the Castle one is much stronger, perfect for speed runs. but it heats up much faster than this hobbywing.
