Hobbywing Platinum 200A ESC : Out of the box review (FreddyCanFly)

This is my first time using the HK 200A ESC and I am very excited. I have used many other HK products so I have no doubts that this one will exceed my expectations as well :).

Question: I have a 200amp Hobbywing HV OPTO ESC, on the package it says it's for a 700-800 size heli. Purchase it about 2 years ago not knowing a lot about electric helis. Now I just finished a Specter V1 700 heli and will mount the OPTO ESC in it along with an IKON FBL and a XNOVA motor and 12s lipo. I'm almost certain that all I need to do is plug the ESC Red, black, and white wire into throttle channel and the single wire into the governor port of the IKON. Then add a 2S lipo battery to power servos and FBL system. Just want to make sure I'm not going to smoke my ESC on maiden. Thoughts on OPTO ESCs.

Hi Freddy, love the videos, you made 3GX easy to understand. I just bought a Tomcat 160Kv outrunner and wondering if that esc would be a good match. It draws 175 amps ( 188 burst ) and runs 12-14s. Only got it because it looks really cool and the physical size is just obscene. Weighs in at 2 kg.

Wow sounds like fun. It should be a great match, the 200A platinum can run only up to 12S if I am not mistaken.

I Freddy, the esc doesn`t came with futaba extensions? I have seen some unboxing reviews, and they have it. Because i think the standard wires aren`t enough size if i put on my sab 700, and connect to vbar on the normal position behind

I have not seen a HW come with extensions in the box as of yet. I have used this ESC in almost all 700 sized helis with zero isseues, but it will also depend on where you mount all of your components.

I will, I still have a way to go before I can fly the new specter 700. It was offered at almost the worst time for me lol, so I have to slowly pice it together. I am very lucky though because a lot of my friends in the Heli community have been helping me out a great deal!

Hi Freddy. Great video. Do you think it is possible to put this esc in a speedcar? I run my car with a Max5 today and it can handle 8s but no more then 1100kv. It would have been great fun to have this esc in a car! If possible..

I am not going to say it is impossible lol however this ESC is made for aircraft specifically (programming features and what not). But I want to say that HW makes car ESC also but I am not 100% on that.

Yes for this ESC you need the multi function LCD programmer box, I think its only a few bucks but very very useful.
