You guys converted that Hobie Kayak into a Sailing vessel fast, and a great place to install for a test run how sweet. For a first time out you ride like a pro congrats for learning the ropes and sharing it will all of us.

The inflatable outriggers worked a lot better than i thought they would because they dont look much but you can really take the Revo out in some wind and it wont roll over. Lots of fun well worth the cost.

I've been wanting to get back to sailing for 15 years now. This would be great for crossing the larger lakes between the river runs I do.

1800 for the kayak 370.00 for sail kit 180.00 for the out-riggers. i just bought one it was a 11' 6" revolution with sail kit and out-riggers. it is alot of money but comes with a 2 year warranty but will last for years.

That looks awesome! We just acquired a Hobie Outback and Revo 13. Looks like sailing may be an upgrade for next season. Thanks for posting.

Looks great, I've been considering one for my Pro Angler to assist with the travel to and from distant fishing spots. Paddle, pedal, or sail, Hobie has ya covered.
@garyaugustyn57095 жыл бұрын
you forgot to attach the downhaul... the shockcord on the bottom of the sail should be attached to the post at the bottom of the mast... keeps the sail tight and keeps it from lifting up the mast.

Very nicely done video. I have a Revo and an Oasis, and a sail would work on both, so I'll be getting one now.

Great! I ordered a new PA14 just before Christmas (2014) and was torn between buying the eVolve motor kit or the sailing kit to go with it. In the end, I opted for the motor Anyway, now you have had the sailing kit for a couple of years - assuming you haven't moved on to bigger and better, as they say - how have you found the use of the sailing addition with your fishing etc?? Has t proved worth the outlay or is it something you loved at first but grew to loathe? Many thanks for the video. Really enjoyed it!

Can this sail be used with a different Kayka like one set up for fishing? I am thinking about trolling>

Gona necro this post to ask why you used a masonry drill bit for plastic?

You're flying! Very cool. Much better than a trolling motor

Curious to know if the peddle fins down act like a good enough center board without having a drop skeg/dagger board? Or still should be added?

I'm interested in the pedals. How are they propelling the kayak? Do they power up a small motor, or are they attached to paddles beneath the kayak?
@lkb3rd8 жыл бұрын
Hobie Calls it a "Mirage Drive" and the pedals move two flippers under the boat which move like penguin flippers to propel you. I have used one for years and it works great and is durable and well made.

How do you furl it though. I haven’t seen anyone do it yet. I’ve sailed the tandem island and that’s pretty straight forward. But with this one I don’t see anyway to furl the sail.
@MegaPeedee5 жыл бұрын
There is a furling kit and I have ordered one for my new unseen Hobie Oasis, which I pick up soon. I used top sail a TI.

Beware fish aren't the only living things that can get ( HOOKED ) They say adding a sail to a Hobie can catch many who take the bait.
