Hobie Lynx Durability test.
This was a warranty hull and before we destroyed it we’d see how much abused it will take.
Absolutely amazed that this lightweight kayak could handle all the impacts.
It didn’t do well to the hammer test, so just don’t hit it with a hammer.
Also, if you happen to damage the hull solarez makes repairs an absolute breeze for anyone that can apply Elmer’s School Glue (just don’t eat it)

Wow, even though I wouldn't do this to my Lynx, I've always thought they were a lot stronger than most people have talked about in their videos. When initially considering the Lynx I came across a lot of videos of people indicating that you need to baby this boat. I don't baby my equipment. I found it hard to believe that Hobie would make a kayak that you needed to baby. You proved that this kayak does not have to be coddled like a newborn.

@@sunjammers That's nuts. You can get a 14' John Boat from Academy with a 15hp engine and a gps autonav trolling engine that seats 5 for that.

It's tough. It is built the same way as their fiberglass surf boards but with a final layer of vacuum formed plastic to protect the fiberglass. Not sure how well internally the foam core and fiberglass layers will like being smashed in from drops. Likely why it sounded like debris in a plastic bucket in the end. I have the strong, but easily scratched, yellow Hobie Eclipse pedal board, and the Lynx. Internally they are the same. On the upside, fiberglass and foam construction is super easy to fill and repair.

This is similar to the eclipse board but the Lynx thermoformed exterior instead of fiberglass We cut the hull up after this video, was pleasantly surprised how well the closed cell foam maintained its integrity! The new eclipse boards will be this same construction!

@@sunjammers Good to know the Lynx is tough. It worked great, stable, when I took it last week on vacation to Navarre. Some in the gulf and some bay side visiting their bar on the beach. I bought the Eclipse to have something different than my kayaks to take to the lakes. It is different.
