Thanks Pita. I really appreciate your positive comments. Nothing wrong with the Dragon kayaks. My best mate has one and absoloutley loves it. His just as fast as me on the water too and caught plenty of good fish. Because the channel is growing quickly I thought having a hobie would be fitting and spark some further interest. I'm Looking forward to many adventures ahead with it. Catching a lot more fish then this vid. Thanks again.

congrats alan great boat! i told you a few weeks back that i got a pa12. absolutely loved it. loved the stability, the storage, and the room that it has. unfortunately with all that comes weight. thats the reason why i sold it almost immediately. i hated dragging it through sand and actually destroyed my back pulling it up a bank. waiting on delivery of my new outback. hopefully its easier to pull through loose grainy sand. you'll notice the only thing missing is a cupholder LOL
@fishingmad
@fishingmad 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks heaps for your comment. Yeah you are 100% right the added stability and room certainly means extra weight. There is no way i would have considered one of these without a trailer. My native was half the weight and I struggled to lift that on the car roof. ill be spending a lot of time to check out good spots to launch at during low tide thats easier. Example today i went to limburners lagoon, weather was nasty lasted 5 minutes and drove home however on peak of low tide the launch was so easy. Good luck when you get your outback. I have a few mates that sold there PA and got an outback and love them because of the weight and stability. When do you get your and were abouts do you fish ?

Its nice to hear such a balanced view on the next step beyond land-based fishing! If you were at the beginning of that jump and had the option of either kayak or boat, which way would you go? I'm never going to hit open water (mostly estuaries and rivers) so the kayak is a lot more tempting than hitting boat ramps, etc
@fishingmad
@fishingmad 4 жыл бұрын
Its a great question. Both have massive advantages and disadvantages. I love the kayak, its easy to launch, its fun, but you cant get out into deep water and really have to watch the conditions and tidal flow. The boat is amazing however boat ramps can get incredibly busy and chaotic, and I cant launch on my own. I was thinking after a year or two id prob ditch one and commit full time to the other but still completely undecided.

@@fishingmad appreciate the honesty thanks mate. One more quick one...Savage LRF or Finezze for small-medium reddies and trout in rivers and lakes from the bank? I'm pretty sure I've seen you use both ;)
@fishingmad
@fishingmad 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, yeah I have used both a lot since they were released at the end of 2017. Honestly I would go the finezze 2-4 every time. The finezze are a little bit stiffer which i find so important for staying in contact with the lure and for better casting distance and accuracy. My Finezze 2-4 is my go to spin outfit paired with a stealth 2000. I use it for fresh water and estuary fishing. They were on special at BCF last week 50% off. The LRF's are really cool but there more for a challenging and punishing form of fishing. Its a bit like Daiwa's drunken monkey they are so light and thin its really for testing your ability to land a good fish on such light gear which is fun but not always practical. The 4-6 kilo versions are awesome for squid. If your fishing in the bay then look up the 1dfr series rods they are great too. I hope this helps again have a look at the finezze 2-4 you wont be disappointed but keep your eyes on the sales and promos.

Awesome, thanks for following the channel. I do heaps of hobie videos, so im sure youll enjoy it. Generally always go with 1/6 or 1/8. if its dead calm then maybe 1/12. Usually a 1/0 or 4 inch soft plastics and greater a 2/0. Hope that helps.

Hey mate I'm looking at the savage stealth combo and I need a medium reel that will handle good size trevally big snapper and mulloway and wanted to know if the 6000 stealth will handle it fine and what's rod would do excellent with it I think the 15kg to 24kg is abit heavy what do you Think
@fishingmad
@fishingmad 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your message. I have used the stealth reels a lot now you can see more info about each individual reel on the video I put together kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWHHoKBrf898q68 personally I just use a stealth 4000 when chasing snapper and mulloway. I have that reel spooled with 20 pound braid and use it to flick swim baits and sometimes just bait such as full silver whiting or pilchard. In terms of rods have a look at the new 1DFR series rods. they are great rods. I have been using the 6 foot 6 3-5 kilo for most of my salt water fishing. Yes its a bit light in some cases but haven't had to many issues landing to many fish. You can see my full review of them here fishingmad.com.au/review/savage-gear-1dfr-rod-series. The offshore 5-8 kilo would be a great option for you. So maybe putting out there a 1dfr 7 foot 6 5-8 kilo paired with a stealth 4000 and 20+ pound braid as a good remonedation. BCF had a sale last month any stealth and 1DFR for half price so keep your eyes on that. I hope that helps, let me know what you think. Best Regards Al from FishingMad

@@fishingmad ok awesome gonna get the 6000stealth spooled with 30lb paired with the 1DFR 6-10kg for mulloway and snapper and the odd kingfish. Have you used the 15kg - 24kg rod and 6000stealth to see if it matches well and If so I'd love to know how it felt together

I have the 1DFR 1-4, 3-5, 5-8, 6-10 but haven't used the 15-24. They generally have them in stock at most BCF shops. Prob best to call your local BCF and see if they have them on the floor so you can go and have a feel of them and see if they seem nicely balanced, before you consider buying. I hope that helps

They both have very different purposes so it depends on how you fish. The lynx is light weight brilliant for car topping, fishing on lakes, estuaries and bay on very calm days but lacks storage. The PA is best suited to a trailer but has unparalleled stability, space and storage.

@fishingmad 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Garry, thanks for the feedback. Most of the time, its me own my own which means I'm limited to recording in selfie mode. Which is reverse mode. That's the only way that I can see whats in the frame. If you record normally then your recording completely blind which sometimes works well and sometimes doesn't. I'm currently looking at some of the front facing recording cameras and even the go pro 8 which was just released which will have the front facing addon mod. Its something Ive given lots of thought and should have a solution soon.

@@fishingmad Ok fair enough. However isn't their a method in the editing software to flip the image? I am sure anything from Adobe will have the capabilities to fix the mirroring. I really do appreciate the effort you go to to bring fishing entertainment for the common man, sometimes I just get a twitch at the little things! May all your catches be big ones!
@fishingmad
@fishingmad 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have been flicking between Corel Video studio and Adobe CC and both seem to to rotate the image to being on the wrong angle or upside down. Wish there was an easy way to do this using software. Ultimately an easy fix will be a front digital camera with fli screen for true selfie mode or new gopro. Its often the little things that makes all the difference so happy for the feedback if it will improve the channel.
