My oldest brother died of a fentanyl overdose and the morning I flew out to his funeral, my stepdad passed away that same morning while getting ready for his funeral, and just 30 minutes before I arrived to town. Life is weird and it just keeps going, so hearing positive messages such as this song helps in these dark times. Thanks Hobo Johnson, seems like you're always releasing music at my hardest times.

My dad passed away very suddenly on April 19th, 2019. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer unexpectedly on April 12th, 2019. They told us he could have a month to six months, a year, they didn’t know. He had 7 days. I lived with my mom and him when he passed. We kept his bedroom the way it was for the better part of a year and a half, and I’d frequently just go in there and lay in his bed for a while. I found comfort in it. After some time my mom and I finally were able to let go of those things and clear out his room and we repainted it together and set up a home office for her. It was very healing and cathartic. I didn’t expect this song when I opened Spotify tonight, but I’m glad I got it.

I'm sorry for your loss. My Dad is turning 64, which seems young but he abused a lot of drugs when he was younger, and still struggles with it. He broke his hip and can barely walk, when 10 years ago we'd go bowling or play basketball all the time. He could have 10+ more years, or he could have less than 10 days. I will never know, but I miss him already even though he's still here. Once he's gone and I can't even talk to him again... I'll have lost a piece of myself I'll never get back. To anyone out there who is young and has healthy parents: please, cherish them now. Even if you think you hate them, there will be a day where you wish you could have one more conversation, one more day spent with them to say what you need to say or do now.

I recently lost my Dad two months ago. (02/02/2024) Thank you for sharing this beautiful song. It's expressing the words I want to shout to the world. It's hard to listen to because the waterworks just keep flowing because everything right now is absolutely raw, but I appreciate that this song is very cathartic to me. Again I can't thank you enough for this amazing gift you gave us. My dad wrote in his journal (which he lifted from somebody) "The prescription for a broken heart is activity. The most useful kind of activity involves doing something to help others. Poets and Philosopher say adversity, sorrow, and pain give our lives an added dimension." You're helping me a lot with this song and this is exactly what I need. I'm sorry for your loss. Rest In Peace to your Dad, Frank. Rest In Peace to my hero too... my amazing Dad.

I lost my dad at a very young age, and not just in the sense of him dying. When i was in 6th grade he left in the middle of the night because of problems with my mom, and i barely ever saw him until 9th grade when he came back for a few months. And then we found out about his heroin addiction, cause he got in trouble and the court ordered him to go to rehab for a year, and i could barely see him yet again. And when he finally got out when i was 16, i only had him for a few more months before he relapsed and died from an overdose. So hearing music like this always help me try to connect more to him, i love your songs hobo johnson, thank you for all your music, but especially music like this.
