Hey Erin! My name is Margo, and I am currently in occupational therapy school getting my doctorate in occupational therapy. I wanted to thank you for being so open and honest about your son and dealing with his IEP meetings and everything. Many children with autism don't have parents who are nearly as understanding/supportive as you and your husband are. I know how hard it can be for not only the child, but for the family as well, and I think that it's so amazing how devoted you are to getting him the help he needs and helping him to live his best life. I also think that your honesty and openness about everything is so important from an awareness standpoint. Not everyone knows about the intricacies of raising a child with autism, so every time you mention it on this channel my heart just soars. You're an amazing mama!

My husband always says you never make a mistake by going to a funeral but you can make one by not going. You are not an awful human, there is obviously still a lot of love for her despite your differences and you are there pay your respects and to support her husband and children. Hugs and prayers!

Then there are the teenage years when they don’t like you or don’t like to admit it, but then they’re in college and they realize how blessed they are and you’re great parents again. All of ours are grateful that we taught them how to do laundry, cook and clean too!

I would go early before anyone else arrives. That way you can sign the registry book and have some private viewing time and not worry about others being there. That way you will have a chance to pay your respects and the family will see your name and know you were there.

I would make an appearance but don’t force yourself to stay a long time if you aren’t comfortable. If it were me and I had lost a friend I hadn’t ended on good terms with, I’d still go to show respect to the friendship and her family.

Hi Erin, you know there is no wrong or right answer. Maybe it would be good to go and pay your respects you may not have been close in the last little while but it wasn’t always like that and you obviously have fond memories of your friend and when its time to say goodbye you tend to think of the nicer things in life you shared with them. But it is also acceptable to say goodbye in your own way if you’re not up to the funeral. Thinking of you and Im sure on the day you will decide what is right for you and you alone. Hang in there girlfriend you got this ❤

It is hard to be someone who prefers not to be a confrontational to have to face faculty at an IEP meeting and advocate for your child. You will absolutely advocate for your child but it's not your preference so it's perfectly fine to be nervous about it and I'm glad hubby is going with you! As for funeral services, you will know what is on your heart the day of or even the minute before you decide to go or not go and do what is right for you.

First, sorry for your loss. Second, it seems like you want to go but are too worried about other people’s thoughts/opinions and it sounds like you feel like you’ll regret not going. With that said, I would say do what your heart (not your head) is telling you to do.❤

I honestly don’t think anyone would react negatively to you being there. I do feel that if you don’t go you’ll wish you did. Coming from someone who went to the funeral of someone close but estranged I am glad that I went. But if you don’t go, I do suggest doing something to say your goodbyes. Writing a letter to the person maybe able to help. I know it’s hard but try to think only about yourself and what you need for you. Sending love

Plus when you cry a lot you get mineral and salt deposits on your contact - which can also scratch your cornea. You need to go to the eye doctor. I’ll ask my husband the name of the glasses place he used online
