Three Doors Down debut album was recorded with this tech. They won a Grammy for that album.

Still some very useful tones in that piece of gear. An old guitarist I used to work with had one. Fun to record with.

All guitars and bass in the demo song was recorded through the Pod Pro, pretty happy with it. Did you ever have any favourite amp models or effects on this thing?

Thanks for a very cool and Nostalgic video! My first experience of line6 pod was back in 2000. The guitarist in one of my old bands used the bean shaped POD. I didn’t like it at all at the time, mostly because he couldn’t dail it in and the clean sound was twice as loud as the dirty tone 😂. A couple of years later the guitarists in another band I played in started to use Line 6 Vetta amps, And big floorboards connected with Ethernet cables. That was quite advance for its time. And you could blend different amps and output in stereo. One of the guitarists was a big Line 6 fan and also has the Variax guitar! At one show he accidentally switched his guitar so it sounded like a Banjo 😂. I used that to record a lot back in late 2000s and we still have one Vetta left.

Seems like Line 6 sometimes get a bad rep caused by the users getting lost in all the options. A little bit like the Boss Metal Zone pedal that everybody remembers as horrible, but is actually pretty great. I hate the Variax guitar though. The banjo story makes me like it a little more haha.

That's our main sound since a while, as we are really into LDOH and Mortician, that's the guitar tone and i never found any good tube amp with enough distortion. As well, this old version doesn't have the same tone as the other pod.

Hello man, always loved the PxFx guitar tone. What settings did you used on the pod to get that sound exactly? Thx for your reply buddy

@@Bloodbath4567 Wow man, thanx a lot for your kind words. Well on the Pod that's pretty classic, i guess the bass is at 12 o'clock because it's already a lot of bass, we should probably cut it more because i cut during the mix, but i like it that way. Mids are cut & we added a bit of treble, pretty 90's Scott Burns tone haha. As well the drive is on the max, i think we use the Line6 distortion & i really love it, we also have other Pod and they really doesn't sounds the same. That Pod Pro is also powered by a Rocktron power amp & we have two of that same rig as we have a 2nd guitarist, i first bought a spare rig because it was hard to find it, but now we both use it. So here it is, i hope i answered your question closed enough hehe

@@guyomepxfx1 Thanx a lot for taking your time and answering my question man, it means a lot because PxFx is one of my favorite acts that took that LDOH sound/composition style and who succeeded in having its own atmosphere and singularity. Thanks for sharing your eq and drive settings, but I still have a question; Which amp model do you use on the pod? My ears tells me it could be the “Line 6 insane”, like Wiliam Van De Ven used but I’m not sure. Again, thank you for your answer man!

@@Bloodbath4567 no problem man. Wow thanx again for kind words, LDOH is our main influence for sure, i'm glad they're friends of is since a longtime now, well i never met Hans, but the other guys yeah. LDOH has lots of awesome songs, the last recordings are gorenoise oriented but we are more into their older stuffs, like their songs on the Dutch Assault or split with Morgue, the songs are amazing. Yeah i think we use the Insane setting, we love that guitar tone hehe.

I have tons of old tech (Including Pod Pro), I and can tell you, IMO, the Rolland GP-100 tones and so musical and amazing compared to to the Pod stuff of this era, the Pod sounds absolutely brittle and like a toy transistor amp when compared to the Rolland. Even the effects in the Pod are hard to describe... whatever the word is for "The opposite of lush" would be a good description

Which amp models did you use for the bass in the demo song?

Can you please tell me which amp did you emulate for the bass sound? I have a Pod Pro too, and usually emulate the Bassman. But It would be cool to know which one you used for the demo song.

I have Pod XT pro which is "better" version of this classic. Never got the sound I wanted out of that thing but kept it just because of the great tuner. :D If I ever end up doing some doom or sludge stuff I'd definitely try using that Pod xt as a preamp through some Engl or Marshall poweramps with a real cap. Dirt should be imminent. :D

Could it be that a lot of the presets are pretty bad? Try dialling it back to basics. I feel like the amps are pretty good but comes with too much cheesy effects and settings.

@@hoborec Yeah the presets sucks and I tried dialing my own sounds but didn't propably have enough expierence back in the days to get it sound good enough. :D

Back in the early 2000s they used line 6. I believe it was the vettas though, not the pod pro. I don't know if there's much difference. But that was only for touring, they have always used real amps in the studio.
