What would happen if someone accidentally plugged the two brick charges into the OPES power outlets and tried to charge the OPES battery .The system would be wired in a loop . I wonder if it would even turn on or try and charge itself ? Or worse catch on fire.

Got this power station April 15 for our camping trips. Thanks for the great discount HOBO! Worked fine for a few days/week and then started receiving E2 messages - 'battery low voltage protection'. However the unit was still at 55%. It has gotten worse since then. E2 message at higher and higher power percentages and drawing only 150w (trailer plugged in) or less. I've emailed the company and awaiting a reply, but the unit is worthless to me right now. 7-11-23. OUPES customer support has sent us a new unit to replace our defective one. There is no phone number for customer support that I know of, just email addresses. However, they did respond promptly to each email, overnight, since I assume they must be in Asia/Japan. They sent me a prepaid label to return the defective unit in the shipping box the new unit came in. Hopefully this one will work better. I really like the build of the unit and the solar charging; we use it for camping; just plug our trailer into the 110v outlet - no more gasoline/oil/noise. We have only used the new unit lightly while at home, but will use it more on our next excursion.

I’m having the same issue. I bough mine in 9/22 and followed the manual to charge it. I have had to luck in contacting customer service. I paid over 2600.00 with the 2 solar panels. It’s useless as I prepare for hurricane season. I no longer have the box. I feel like customer service disappeared, and I’m out over 2600.00 😢 Don’t know what to do. I’d you or anyone have any suggestions, I’m all ears! Thanks .

I purchased this product during Black Friday - $1445. I waited for a detailed review on KZbin but the price was right so I took a chance. Compared to my other " major brand " solar generators that include Ecoflow, the quiet fan in this unit is EVERYTHING! I primarily charge via solar so the charging bricks don't bother me but after seeing the efficiency test I'm glad I didn't pay $1699 for only 1700-1800 of useable watts. Great review as always!!!

Throwing a left-right at my computer screen is easily the most Pavlovian thing I do on a regular basis. Somebody at Oupes got a fantastic deal on a butt-load of those smaller chargers. I don't hate it, although I greatly prefer being able to use a simple cable without the brick.

I have an Oupes 600w unit. Although, I have pass thru charging, leaving my product plugged in as an EPS resulted in the machine overheating and dieing. I was only using a box fan on low. Of course ambient temperature was warm, but within operating conditions. They replaced the unit under warranty. Now, I charge it slowly using its bidirectional 60W. I would like either internal temperature be shown on the screen as my $100 solar generator or via an App like my Ecoflow Delta 2.

Nice review. The external chargers are nice because that means it's not a bypass charger but they are a bit small. The price is great but the 108VAC output with a only 1KW load is a deal breaker. You didn't show the output voltage at 2400W but it's probably near 100V which not good for some devices. If the inverter can hold output at 115VAC+ at 2400W then it would be a real contender for me.

I got this product with 480 watts of their solar panels. My first time every dealing with solar so I figured I best start with their panels. I still have room for 480 more watts and might try to DIY it as I get more comfortable using this. The cable that connects the solar panels to the device is extremely short so I bought an extension cord off of hobotechs site. 10 gage is probably overkill but overkill is better than not having enough wire thickness. All the downsides to this are strangely up sides to me or not applicable. If it ends up being crap I will follow up, TY HoboTech and tell Odin if I ever run across his litter box I will change his kitty litter for him.
@johnliberty3647
@johnliberty3647 Жыл бұрын
After hooking up my Oupes I found it comes 65% charged. I also found out that the solar panels came with a very long cord, I assumed the cord was short because the splitter was short and I thought that was the Solar Panel cord. I did not measure the cords that came with the solar panels but they were well over 10 feet. I also found out that you need 4 of their panels to connect to the Anderson Powerpole outlets. It does not work if you only connect to one of them. Or that is what the Manual said. I did not push my luck and test it. Eventually I will get another set of Solar Panels but for now I only have 2 of theirs. Not sure if I will DIY my next set of solar panels or buy theirs. This is my first time tinkering with solar generators and I have never dealt with solar before so I can not compare this to anything else. I have yet to use it other than to charge it. I will keep posting on this thread if something comes up.

Note quite sure why they went with Anderson Connectors for solar. Unless it comes with MC-4 to Anderson cables. My Bluetti came with the MC-4 to barrel as well as my smaller Golab 200i, cables included and I can use any solar panel. Not like the Jackery, which I believe has a proprietary input for solar and you have to buy their panels. Maybe I'm missing something here

One minor consumer concern here. I tested out the cigarette lighter charging option in a pinch. The adapter going into my vans lighter socket gets very hot in 30 minutes. It could probably go an hour or 2 but it was hot enough for me to limit it to 20 minutes at a time. Other than that no complaints.

For preppers like me, redundancy is not a bad thing...Regarding the AC wall chargers, I'd rather have two 250W chargers than a single 500W...In the event one of them stops working, you at least still have the ability to charge the device via AC input...albeit slower, said the turtle to the hare...

Alaska prepper (youtube channel) said the very same thing you did about the dual chargers. I ended up getting this product, the dual chargers for redundancy was one of the reasons. Although I will rarely wall charge I still like redundancy. I also liked that there was no cell phone ap. I do not trust anything that can be detected or connected wirelessly. The people who call me paranoid about this also called me paranoid when I pointed out that built in webcams can be hacked. Turns out, webcams are getting hacked. The worst part about being paranoid is that I keep ending up being correct.

I only have 1-strand of solar panels. I have (7) 100w panels total of 700w. they are voc-21.82v each, can I use these as is in series and charge by Anderson pole wire into oupes? or is it too much voltage input on only one input to oupes?

The solar inputs have a great wattage rating, BUT (!!!) 45v is really low. I'd like to know what the upper limit for the solar input actually is, and what happens if I plug in my 52 VOC panel, will it pull enough to bring it down to its 42v MPP?

It's impossible to hook up more solar panels watts. I'm guessing the would not work if the grid went down. The minimum power needed per day is 1400 watts per day. Which one do I need.

Thanks for this review sir. I bought this a few months ago, and I have a total of 1200w solar panels setup (600w per Anderson input connected parallel), but I cannot get more than 500w input even in maximum sunlight. How many panels were you able to use to get up to 1000w from the solar inputs? I'll appreciate your help in this!!

A follow-up: I bought the Oupes 1800w in mid-2022. The inverter failed after a few months of use. That was the time when this video was up. Oupes refunded the 1800w and sold me the 2400w, which better fit my needs. But within 2 weeks its inverter failed again, so I returned within 30 days. Oupes' customer service was actually really good. I just hope their quality can match.

@@HOBOTECH My small Anker 232 series II, or whatever the hell it is (the one with a wide screen and a single 300w AC socket) is a great unit, my first sogen and still working fine. A bit annoyed that it doesn't charge from the Powerport Solar 60 properly, but that little fact is apparently buried in the finest if fine print.

Are the dual 8mm inputs for the dual power adapters the result of the 8mm port not being able to safely pass more than ~200 watts? I know with 5521 I've never seen anything more than a 10A female port (I've looked for a 20A and I'm sure one exists, not sure if the male head is really safe at 20A either). And technically since the power adapters are just bricks converting AC to DC if you had a battery that imitated the power adapters voltage output you could use those 8mm inputs to charge with said battery? Obviously not something that should be done unless you know what you're doing.
@HOBOTECH
@HOBOTECH Жыл бұрын
I don't recall the rating on the 8mm but it was something like 240w. There is no reason to not include a 500w power brick with an Anderson adapter.

It's like every time a company gets down the final thing to really make a product stand out they go, Woah, woah, woah there my guy, we can't possibly make it that good, that's just taking things too far...don't be ridiculous. For this one, we shall give them two bricks with spaghetti. But nice review as usual!
