Can confirm, I have a childrens book on animals from the 1800's that's been passed down in my family and the name next to the Rhino is Unicorn, so the name lingered around until relativley recent

Spencer the scientific Latin name for a rhino is rhinoceros unicornis. Rhino connotes nose and unicorn means one horn. Although the Bible also describes at least one having two horns. Fun fact: in Chinese and Japanese folklore, theres a quilin/kirin, which is a large deer or goat-like creature with at least one horn, covered in scales. When Chinese emperor Yongle was given a giraffe as a present, many people in his court were convinced it was a quilin, probably because of the hooves, horns and scale-like fur print.

I don't believe the book of Job is describing a hippo at all, because a hippo, does not have a tail as a "cedar tree" especially the cedar trees of Lebanon. Only a dinosaur has a tail on big as a Lebanon cedar tree. A hippo has a small little tail, I don't know why the video Narrator skips that part. Random Jew here, I've done a bunch of research into Creatures of the Bible and just wanted to make some points... Unicorn: This is said to be an actual creature rather than a mythical one, it had multi-coloured skin (some say rainbow others say brown, red and blue) and one horn. Although it's shape isn't identified, we just kinda go with the horse thing. The last of the Unicorns were killed for their skins in around 1300BC. Behemoth: Other than the description in Job, we don't have much to go off of, the Hippo idea has been suggested by some, but others belive that it is actually a giant creature that will be killed for the Feast of Redemption (explained further down). The only other thing to go on is the name שור הבר 'Wild Bull' which gives us the massive cow idea. Leviathan: The Leviathan is described as more Whale-like rather than Serpentine. In Jewish legend all of the World's continents actually float on the ocean rather than being solid rock, and the Leviathan exists underneath the land. The Leviathan is chained to the bottom of the sea by G-d, because if it were able to move it would destroy the world simply through the water displament when it moves its fins. Every 40 years or so G-d let's then chains slack a bit and the Leviathan moves a bit, causing earthquakes and tsunami's. Fish willingly swim into it's mouth for it to feed. Both the Leviathan and Behemoth were created during the 6 Days of Creation with a mate, the Female of both was killed instantly as if these creatures were allowed to procreate, they would destroy the world. When the Jewish Messiah comes the Leviathan and Behemoth would do battle, killing each other in the process. We would then have the Feast of Redemption with the meat of these creatures, to celebrate the start of the Messianic Era. The name Leviathan comes from its Hebrew name לויתן (Liv-ya-than). Nephilim: As mentioned in the video, there are two main interpretations of Nephilim, Fallen Angels and Giants, however both of these beings actually exist in Jewish Legend so here goes... Fallen Angels: There are two main stories considering Fallen Angels, the first is with Adam, before Adam's mate Chavah was created the Demon Queen Lil!th (you're not meant to say/write her name 🤷‍♂️) had kids with Adam, these human/demon hybrids are known as Fallen Angels. These two Angels - Shamchazai and Azael - came to Earth and immediately 'fell' and started sinning, as with Adam their offspring they had with Humans are Fallen Angels. Giants: All Humans were 'Giants' at the beginning of the world, and slowly shortened as time went on, however some individuals didn't shorten, such as Og, who was reportedly 3 meters tall AS AN INFANT. Some estimate his adult height as around 97m (200 cubits). Goliath from the famous David and Goliath story was one of the last of the Giants to exist, at an estimated 3 meters. Other creatures: Phoenix: The Phoenix was the only creature to not participate in the Sin of the Tree of Knowledge (Adam fed the fruit to all the creatures, something which is not often mentioned these days, the Phoenix refused) G-d granted the Phoenix eternal life, every 1000 years it makes a nest of Cinnamon sticks and lights it on fire, with him burning in the flames. A new egg emerged from the flames and out comes a baby Phoenix. Human/animals Hybrids: Creatures such as Centaurs, Minotaurs, Mermaids ect do exist in Jewish Legend, just not on this world (it's complicated) "365 kinds of Human Beasts exist, some half snake half human, some half lion half human. Some have the snake half on top and some the snake half on the bottom." Golem: Guess this kinda counts, some really powerful Rabbi's gathered different kinds of mud and shaped it as a human, after some special prayer (lost to time) and putting a paper with one of G-d's name in it's mouth, the Golem rose. The Golem isn't very intelligent and can only preform basic tasks but does so till told otherwise. It was tasked to protect the Jews of Prague, Poland and did so until no longer necessary. It had the Hebrew word for 'truth' on its forehead 'אמת'. The 'א' was removed to kill it, making the Hebrew word 'מת' 'death/dead'. Hi, Hebrew speaker here. At any point in the video did you not mention that the name Leviathan comes from the Hebrew word לויתן, which literally means "whale". Yes, the fat ocean mammal whale. I remember reading that giant sea serpents seen by sailors were probably whales surfacing to breathe. Look up videos of whales breaching and you'll see it's not hard to imagine sailors would mistake this gigantic smooth-skinned creature lurking just below the surface of the ocean. They might even mistake water blown out of the blow hole for smoke billowing from the monster's nostrils.

The breathing fire can be explained by the incredibly vile breath that the Saltwater croc is renowned. They compared them with our bible's old testamtent and found nearly no change. Just word difference. If the bible is true, why shouldn't it describe a dinosaur? Today the word "leviathan" is synonymous with whales, but yes, the creature described in Job is clearly a Nile crocodile. The breath of fire is an obvious embellishment. Since ancient times, many creatures are described as having firey breath. The reason for that could simply be because up close, everybody's breath is hot. That's your body temperature.

I think Leviathan could be a Whale, many Whale fossils have been dug up in the Sahara, Egypt and Sinai because this region was once underwater and the dry conditions preserved the fossils really well. To a common man in the BCE period, these fossils would be quite hard to understand.

I know Hebrew (Cause I am a religious Jew), and I found this video very interesting. I am not entirely sure about the exact translation of the Hebrew word Leviathan into what it would be in English. But I believe that Whale has been an acceptable term. However, one thing I would like to point out that was not mentioned in this video, was that when God had created the Leviathan and its partner with it, he later killed the second leviathan so they couldn't have children since he was afraid the Leviathan would be to dangerous and would kill off his other creations specifically humans. Therefore, the Leviathan cannot be any creature we have seen today, because there is only one Leviathan that exists in the whole world.

I've been listening to the book of Enoch, and in it he does talk about the Leviathan and the Behemoth. We can conclude that both creatures are in fact a single animal/creature not a species. He speaks of them in singular terms, though if these beings are real and not metaphorical, then they're pretty well hidden because they're supposed to eat the sinners who don't die in a future global flood.

I'm starting to think the Behemoth might just as well be a Mammoth. God's description is quite uncanny, most times Elephants eat grass even their strength is of something to be admired. The solid reason behind this is that the Book of Job is dated to be around 400 or 600 years old most prehistoric mammals were still around that time. If I am not mistaken some ancient Elephants were known to live near coastal regions and since both Behemoth and Leviathan were supposedly neighbors it is possible that this description ties to some sort of Mammoth or a Mastodon, hell there could be chance that it was a Gomphothere being described.

There are records showing that the Book of Job dates no later than around the 4th to 7th century anywhere around during the time the Book of Job was being written things like Mammoths and other ancient elephants were walking around the world especially around places like Babylon, Jerusalem, and near the Mediterranean Sea. I don't think those descriptions were distorted when it pretty much has these animals pegged. They are admirably strong, eat grass like an Ox, they're very docile, stiff tails, and had legs like bars of iron. The scriptures also describe that the Behemoth resides around the waters and mountain ranges where food is located. The altitude nor environment would agree with a Hippo... but most Elephants are an exception. Furthermore, it should be noted that this rendition of William Blake's watercolour masterpiece, depicts the Behemoth with tusks and a long bovid-like tail. So therefore I don't it was all too exaggerated.

Most of the mammoths had already died by like 10000 bc but there were a few left in the Arctic, nowhere near the Middle East. As a hebrew speaker I believe you forgot one important point regarding both leviathan and behemoth. In the Bible both are mentioned as beasts god had created and slain himself, but why? Well the Bible tries really hard to put any Egyptian gods and believes as lesser to God. Both the hippo and the crocodile are common in Egyptian mythology and if the Hebrew God created them AND destroyed them then he is for sure stronger than the Egyptian gods. That is to prove to the twelve tribes of Israel, many of whom knew the Egyptian mythologies and even were of Egyptian decent. I’ve heard some ideas about these creatures, some purely hypothetical and given Job is as old or older than Moses. Behemoth: Possibly a hippo, or maybe an extinct elephant relative (shovel-tusk, maybe), or a grass-eating sauropod descendent, or easily just an extinct creature not in the fossil record. Leviathan: Maybe a crocodile, or a venomous lizard (Komodo Dragon cousin?), could easily be an extinct reptile that maybe has venom or “burning” spit. Unicorn: Rhinos, buffalos/oxen, maybe some megafauna could be called re’em. Nephilim: Not necessarily huge, but strong. Some think it’s a poetic description of Seth’s sons marrying Cain’s descendants (an abomination?), it might be fallen angels toying with humanity (some people seemed to worship demons), and the other description might be giant people that were also pagan (maybe demon-worshiping). It’s also plausible, whether evolution or speciation, that some ethnic groups became huge, and others dwarf-sized (the largest land mammal was in the rhino family, at fifteen feet tall at the shoulder, and smaller species were sometimes a few feet tall)
