I'll try to defend Boston University's goalie a little bit. When you receive very high ''balloon'' shots, you need to move your head toward the roof (in a reasonable angle to see the puck).Doing so, you might get blinded by the lights if they are strong enough. I think the goalie lost sight of the puck and it did hit the palm of his hand rather than the net of his glove. He probably believed he held it more tightly then he actually did, so when he tried to release it to his defenceman it just rolled in the net.

Floating shots will often handcuff goalies, all their muscle memory is on fast moving shots.

I guess it depends on the angle and the trajectory. If you think the puck will land around the top of the crease and kinda bounce towards you, being deep in your net is dangerous, yes. The situation I'm mentioning is when the puck very high and you believe it will drop closer to the net, then it's best to be deep so it has a lower chance of hitting you and going in.

I don't understand why more players don't bounce the puck at the goalie. It's way harder to control than a regular shot, and you can never tell which way it will ricochet off the ice.
