but that makes it hurt even more. I dont think i was ever fired up for hockey more than i was in both the 06 and 07 playoffs. Holy shit massive hype everyday, couldnt stop talking about it, going out to bars to watch the game and yell and scream. Such good memories. That magic hasnt really ever come back. Yes 2017 was fun, but it really felt like we were overachieving and were just lucky to be there, not like we had a good chance to win.

When a 36 year old Claude Giroux is consistently night after night your best player on a team full of young stars, its a problem. Coming from a lifelong Philly (and G) fan, i started watching Ottawa for G. This team is miles behind the worst the flyers have ever looked, no structure, no consistency, no heart. Its crazy, i was really hoping that G would somehow manage to win a cup in his final years with this young superstar team but theres no way thats gonna happen with how they've looked the past 2 seasons

This season in particular, Sens have only been able to play 40 min. Usually we blow it in the 2nd and are trying to play comeback in the 3rd, but they played a very solid 40 minutes, some of the best hockey I've seen them play in a while. And then Colorado started picking them apart, not to mention a few easy goals that they wiffed, and I can't imagine Soggard getting speared in the face early on helped his first game of the season. Overall it was a typical Sens game, they looked great until they didn't.

Love the John Scott and Dany Heatley references! Sens are close to a being a contender, they have the talent, but they're just missing that 'gel' factor. Their luck should change for the better soon, maybe by a long win streak, or getting Celebrini. Excellent stuff Johnny.

this season has been pretty crazy a lot of games where ottawa has 30+ shots and loosing 5-1 to a team with 15 shots or blown leads we honestly cant catch a break this year and its pretty frustrating

With this D-core and players like Stützle, Tkachuk, Batherson, Norris, Tarasenko, Giroux, Kubalik it definitely should not be that bad. This is not a rebuild team anymore and just adding a Celebrini wouldn't change a lot.

As a colorado fan watching that game yesterday, I thought Ottawa played pretty well but kept running into the same issue colorado did when we were the worst team in the league not too long ago. Scoring was not a problem but the defense and goaltending was lackluster. Once Ottawa can find some decent defense and goaltending, and put together a solid 60 minutes, they’ll be a pretty tough team.

Senators have this odd place in my heart as a Flyers fan. You guys plagued us for a while, but I loved some of those old players. Spezza was my first non-Flyer that I chose as my favorite in the NHL (aside from Brind’Amour who was a Flyer and traded, so that doesn’t count 😉). I also love the jerseys - black and red is cool as hell. Anyway, I really hope they see some success soon. Them and the Buffalo Sabres.

If you watch Ottawa every night, they look like an AHL team this year most nights with the exception of 3-4 guys. They don’t deserve a break, breaks are earned. Poor passing, tons of individuals, looks like no system is in place, it’s embarrassing. At least in previous years you could tell they were buying in and at least trying. But this year has been genuinely depressing to be a sens fan. We can’t keep a lead to save our life. It’s tough to buy into and care about a team that doesn’t seem to care about the on ice product.. been a fan my whole life, but this is by far the most testing season I’ve experienced. Somewhat high expectations to start the year have been totally crushed.

The defensive structure of the team needs a huge shake up, we can't keep letting teams walk all over our goaltenders, look at Talbot this year, one of the top goalies in the league because he has a strong defensive core to back up his ability to play. The sens can up goals they just can't stop them from coming the other way

Ottawa allegedly has one of the easiest schedules for the rest of the season. So it shouldn’t be doom and gloom the rest of the way. They just need learn how to keep momentum after a goal. I think the Sens desperately need a veteran defensive role-player, a real grinder. They have so much youth talent, but Giroux and Tarasenko are on the team to produce points first, not coach or develop the youngsters. Hamonic was supposed to be that vet grinder, but he's barley hanging on in the 4th line.

Sens are my favorite Canadian team and I feel like they have a great roster here. I love Tarasenko as a player and agree Tkachuk should have his time. As an Avs fan it was great to get a win after a disappointing loss to a much worse team the night before, but I really feel bad for the Senators. Especially with the crap that happened to Pinto. I wonder if that and the draft issue brought a lot of negativity to the locker room and has brought this team down.
