Only just stumbled on your channel, but I like the idea of talking about psychology within hockey. I feel like another huge deficit for the Leafs was observed in their visible change in confidence with Sammy in the net. He’s got a pretty solid losing record in the playoffs now, and even though Woll was less “proven,” The confidence the Leafs played with while he was in the net was palpably different than when they were playing in front of Sammy; every time Sammy is playing, the Leafs seem overly concerned with what’s happening at their own net and have no confidence that he’s going to make any kind of save on really anything. Hell, at the end of the first period some random Redditor said “Good period. Sucks that Sammy looks like he doesn’t know what’s happening if the puck is between his legs.” Lo and behold, the end of OT and another tortured series. Nice videos!

@griffisjm6 ай бұрын
@Jedalgo EXACTLY!!! If you have to lie about what you did to win there's a problem. What's worse of all is there are actual champions on the team, who will forever be discredited, just like we all look back at McGuire and Bonds, sure they broke the record, but they had to break the rules to do it, likewise, every one of these guys who have sacrificed their bodies to win will forever be looked at like they are less, and they're not, but the team is.
@esharp486 ай бұрын
@@griffisjm who lied and about what? The players you mentioned actively broke rules. That's why their record is tarnished. Because they took steroids. Vegas hasn't done a single thing outside of the rules. Just like those baseball players, the second it was proven they cheated THAT is when their record was tarnished. You can't just throw out championships because you don't like what they did

Tactically speaking, this Leafs team is a mess. You have the core 4, yet decide to play a dump & chase/ heavy forecheck game. The rush chances were 48-27 BOS. That suits none of your top 6 other than Knies and maybe Bert. On defense, Tree clearly wanted to get bigger/meaner. Problem is all his additions (Boosh, Edmundson and Benoit) do next to nothing with the puck other than treat it like a grenade. Sure they block and throw hits, but Cup contenders always have D men that can move the puck/ add some offensive threat. Add to that an anemic PP that didn't even try to change bc the coach is a fraud who is afraid of his stars + getting goalie'd and this is why the Leafs are out.

I honestly felt that the team fought and played better this year because of the roster changes done by Treliving. Domi and Bert were amazing, Benoit perfect signing, Reaves had his moments, and we managed to see the rise of McMann, who we will see a lot more of (yeah, Klimberg's signing wasn't good but he got lucky there, since he freed up space), Edmonson played stellar too and Lebujsken was a good fit overall. Hopefully we get coaching changes (1 in what, 22 power plays? That is series-losing stats) and Woll can stay healthy, because even though Swayman stole all of the Bruins victories, Woll stole two for us too. I don't feel so bad this year compared to last year, because last year, based on the moves done on the trade deadline, you could see that our former GM thought that was an all or nothing season, and we didn't see the Leafs play this physical in God knows how much time, or as competitive. I mean, it's the same thing every year though, right? "Next year is the big year", but I do feel that this elimination felt a lot harder to happen than years prior. The team actually battled and it wasn't a 4-1 comeback with 10 minutes to go on the third, right? hahaha
