Oh god- I felt for that kid. I was 12 when I discovered hockey. My family was moving from Alaska to Alabama (dad in the military) in 1994. Every hotel in Canada had the games on! My younger brother and I became Canucks fans. By the time we got to Alabama, it was game seven of the Stanley cup finals and the rangers won. I remember that sick feeling, I wanted to cry, my younger brother was still young enough and did legit cry…. 30 years later and I can tell you it never gets any better unfortunately. I’m super excited that the Canucks are back in the playoffs this season. I hope your team wins a cup in the future kiddo!

Dude! Same here, I was 12 watching the Canucks in 94 and fell in love with my team and experienced absolute heartbreak when they lost game 7 to the rangers that year. That year was so memorable for so many reasons, and I remember turning on the radio to listen to games any chance I got. My grade 7 friends and I even huddled in one of our teacher’s cars on a school field trip just to listen to a game (we were in the middle of a camping trip).

For the kid Crying.... I have been a die hard ranger fan since I am 5 years old. To this day I bleed blue! I know this feeling. I know that when I went to my first hockey game it started an obsession with an original 6 team that rarely ever made the playoffs, or when they did they were taken out. From 1981 to 1994 I watched my team year after year fail to win the cup. It was heartbreaking. Since 1994 its been a very long road back to the playoffs and the cup. I have these feelings every year. (Except for last year when my new team the VGK won the cup). Its been 30 years since the Rangers have won a cup. I truly hope it is their year. When this came on the TV last night after Chris Kreider scored the 2nd of his 3 goals in the 3rd period, It brought tears to my eyes because I know that feeling. I have lived it for many many years of my life. It hardens you, it changes you, and it give you a deep respect for what these guys go through every night! Don't be embarrassed young man, don't let the people on the internet get to you. You keep on crying, you keep on showing the love you have for your team. Well stated. Mine was 1978-79 until the Messiah arrived to provide long-suffering Ranger fans of 54 years deliverance when he lifted Lord Stanley's chalice at the Garden on June 14, 1994. For the pain and frustration endured, and the many tears shed, that one magical moment made going through all of that worth it. To this day, it is precious, never to be taken for granted and we know there is no guarantee we will ever see it again. Which is why we are grateful for what this season has meant to Blueshirts fans not only in the tri-state area, but to the Ranger-nation throughout this country and world! The thing is though, the canes style of play gives the illusion of outplaying their opponent. But the canes had 13:36 more minutes of offensive zone time and 67 more shots than the rangers, and still had just about the same slot shots and expected goals as the rangers. The canes style is trying to suffocate with offense and pepper goalies with low danger low % shots. I’m sorry but going 2/21 on the powerplay while giving up 2 SHG, blowing two 2 goal leads in 2 games and and getting heavily outmatched on special teams and goaltending, it’s hard to sit there and say “yea the canes outplayed the rangers the majority of that series”

Now I'll keep saying this, I'm a Toronto guy turned Canucks enjoyer, but I could take either Canucks or Oilers moving to the west finals. At the end of the day, it's about bringing the cup home, back North of the border, THE WHOLE COUNTRY needs it, bad. Doesn't matter if you're a Leafs fan, Sens, Habs, or Jets too. These Canucks an Oilers are laying it ALL on the line to go ahead, and I'm having a blast. Overall, good Hockey all around. this has got me amped up, Only things I'm missing is my San Jose sharks or Detroit Red Wings and the Playoffs for me would be PERFECT. There’s a reason it’s only ever been done four times. Off the top of my head, the Leafs did it in the final against the Red Wings in like 42 or smth, I think the Pens did it in like the 70s? And more recently, the Flyers in 2010 and the Kings in 2014. Half of those teams went on to win the cup that year - the Leafs, obviously, since they did it IN the final, and the Kings in 2014 - and while I’m not sure what happened with the one from the 70s I do know that the Flyers went to the final in 2010. It’s extremely hard to do. And only the absolute best of the best can pull it off. Even if a team is known for choking it’s still incredibly difficult to blow a 3-0 series lead.

@@Silverity we'll probably come out hard tomorow but if we keep going 1 for 1 as we have, the team with the first win is likely to win. Loved how the nucks played last night tho, some damn good hockey

100% right about the Stars struggling when they have to play from behind. The Stars remind me so much of the 90's era Devil's in that they win by putting everyone on the ice (and in the stands) to sleep. Avs can win the series if they can find a way to force Dallas to actually play hockey.
@soulknife206 ай бұрын
Which the Avs did last game. And arguably Game 1 and Game 2. Stars needed empty net goals to make sure the Avs didn't win. Game 4 might have been a fluke

My NHL bracket at the start of the playoffs had Winnipeg vs Vancouver and NY Rangers vs Florida in the Conference Finals. Obviously the Jets are long gone, but I feel good about Dallas taking the Central crown and facing the Canucks in the WCF, and my East pick still stands... GO CANUCKS GO

Happy Friday HP!! Big Night for us Dallas Fans... HARDEST games to play are elimination games. But we are the best team on the road, I would like to shut down the Avs tonight in their home arena, but we all know they wont go quietly... Either way two awesome teams going head to head in a Do or Die match up is what makes the Play offs the greatest!

Gotta love the bias, not a single mention of what “could’ve easily been called goalie interference” on Bobby with the double contact. 😂 it’s all good.

You can’t jump into someone that’s charging LOL

Ehh, the whole controversy is in the word "into", Pettersson didn't jump *into* it as much as he jumped away from the hit. For what it's worth, I'm a Canucks diehard and I'm not too upset about it, I think the call was probably wrong, but it was a weird fluky borderline one that just happens sometimes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m sure someone has already pointed this out but Bennett had the game-tying goal in game 4, not GWG

One of the more satisfying playoffs so far with depth scoring and 4th line prowess. Seeing that crucial effort from non stars and players with less hype make it a more memorable storyline. Huge upsets with Carolina, Colorado, and to a lesser extent Boston who seemed to be rolling with success.

Ppl give sports gambling alot of shit, but I was never interested in hockey for 27 years of my life until I started betting on it. This season I haven't bet on NHL at all, but have still been following it as a casual fan. It's a good sport. I'm a soccer fan and it's basically the same sport on steroids lmao. Everything is just way faster and more aggressive

Here in NYC the hosts on two radio stations, ESPN and WFAN, are barely human. They say that the kid to whom Chris Kreider gave his stick, as a Carolina fan, should have returned it, or the parents should have said No thanks. Can you believe it? These hosts are fanboy robots missing any heart. Such a sweet innocent gesture by Kreider gets this kind of response on the sports radio stations. These hosts just got cut down to crappy sizes in my eyes.

Best thing you can do in that case - don’t listen to those stations and don’t buy products from the companies that advertise on those stations.

Carolina playing hyper aggressive on the penalty kill leaving kreider wide open in front of the net just shows that you have to adapt to the team you're playing against if you want to win a series. Their penalty kill was elite in the regular season but that method clearly wasnt the way to go against the rangers

You cannot leave your feet for a hit. nterpretation 1 Rule 7.4 (a) For the purpose of this rule, a “jumping” action will be defined as when a player’s feet leave the ice prior to making body contact with their opponent. If a player’s feet come off the ice after contact is made with their opponent, during an otherwise legal check, this will NOT be considered a Charging penalty because the player’s skates were on the ice at the time of body contact
