Crazy to me that Lindros gets criticism for obviously having the moral upper hand in not wanting to play for someone accused of sexual harassment -- more players should take a stance like that to not enable gross behavior in sports and imo we should praise a player for taking a stance based on morals instead of criticize them for some sort of "professionalism".....
@JustAnotherAlex3D11 ай бұрын

The sexual harassment accusations were in 2015 almost a decade after Lindros had retired. If anyone would like to (kindly) explain what everyone is so upset about, I’ll gladly listen, but it just really doesn’t seem like a big deal. Thoughts?

I believe it's because many kids dream of playing in the NHL and hockey fans see a team drafting a kid as the team giving him an opportunity to make the dreams of many come true and refusing to play for that team is like him saying "uh, no thanks, I'd rather not be a pro athlete making millions to play a game that many people have to pay just to play". Honestly it's ridiculous, plus the hockey media just needs something new to talk about every 15 minutes so they often get desperate enough to make a mountain out of a mole hill, which is the main reason I would never play for a Canadian team and I'm Canadian

2 reasons for this: 1. He’s a Gen Z Superstar, and 2. He doesn’t want to get yelled at by Torts (a corollary of 1.) And, as much as you want to hate and blame him for it, it’s just the way he was trained. Most kids of a certain socioeconomic status have never even had to talk on the phone to an adult they don’t know, let alone had to deal with media and team management (both of whom will CERTAINLY have some uncomfortable questions about hanging a team out to dry) in a multi billion dollar global industry. And when you add just enough of the narcissistic entitlement necessary to become a premier talent, this is what you get (btw, it’s the same for all those kids w/o the talent and their crummy jobs in their crummy home towns).

Can’t help but feel like Torterella’s comment about not knowing Cutter from a hole in the wall is part of the reason he doesn’t want to join your organization. What player wants to play for a coach that can’t even recognize him as one of their top prospects who just tied for the most points at the world juniors? (Also I’m absolutely loving watching Philly fans cry about this after like 4 teams had to pass on Michkov a few months ago because he refused to play for anyone but the flyers)

Because respect begets respect Easy to understand The comment came after What is Torts to do, why waste time on the disrespect his organization was given? Is he supposed to praise him? lol what? There were multiple reasons teams passed on mitchkov with him being Russian and with the Ukraine conflict still making him a gamble to take because he more then likely won’t be in the NHL before 2026 being another huge reason

I'm with you with everything, 100%. Well, no. The fact that a prospect of any team mention that he is a dire hard fan of Crosby, or any fame players of that caliber, you mention it as if it was scandalous llol. "you can"t make this stuff up" you said. Like... WHAT? Do you think prospects get their memory erased when they are drafted by any random team? Let's not become stupid ON TOP of an already difficult situation. Lindros happened before social media, keep that in mind before over dramatising the choice made by litteral kids. We don't know enough to judge the decision anyway, so adding drama is just recipe for disaster. You, as someone who does content for a social media should know that more than anyone. Flyers' FANS are right to feel pissed and robbed, whatever the reason this mess happened. But outside that, let's AT LEAST know the facts before forming an informed opinion. We don't know whether Tort is the cause, so why speculate? What I find more irritating is to see the freaking same coach again and again and again and again in rotation around the league for the past decades. We also don't know what so many of them have done or saw or let happen during all those decades, let's keep that in mind; players have inside info we do not have or won't surface for a long time. Plus the way Tort himself replied to the question is so freaking passive aggressive and classless. Just say IDK and wish everyone good luck and period, next question. About a freaking kid lol, it's just pathetic I'm sorry. He knows him as little as a "hole in a wall", about the first round draft pick of the team you're coaching, who just became the MVP for a gold medal... Sure Tort, suuuure. But many love that kind of drama and BS or raging over stuff that we don't even know. Also what does Tort's performance as a coach right now have anything to do with the situation? I REALLY thought after Chicago, people would be more careful to not equate performance with a locker room that isn't a huge problem, etc. You NEVER know what is going on in a locker room. What if an incident happened recently in Philly's locker room that wasn't dealt the proper way, something that strongly force the kid's agent and himself to make such a difficult decision, knowing full well he would be crucified... Is it not more plausible than any other surface reasons you proposed? It's my guess anyway, and if I'm right I think it will be uncovered, and Tort might lose his life membership position as coach of any NHL team. Let's wait either way.
