If he says ft1 one more time I’m gonna smash my screen, it’s the FT2

Thanks for making this video! When I tried on the FT2 I noticed it gripped my ankles and felt like if I were to skate in them I would surely break my ankle where as the as1 it just felt comfortable. I was wondering if you bake the FT2 if that ankle pain goes away and is that normal when trying on unbaked monoframe skates? Thanks!
@HockeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
So, baking will definitely open the skate up a bit so the foams won't feel as tight. But if you felt ankle pain in the FT2 without baking and it was pretty unbearable I would say the fit profile of them is just too small for your ankle and the Tacks would be a better line for you.

@@HockeyReviews Thank you! I will try the AS1s.

Great reviews! What are your thoughts on the one-piece boot? Do you feel a significant difference between these and traditional skates with outsoles?
@HockeyReviews5 жыл бұрын
So, answering that is hard since I haven't worn a skate with an outsole in 3 years. But I'm trying to get my hands on a pair! I believe the idea behind no outsole, but I'm not sure current skate tech is there since the skates still have an insole (not the removable one, basically the outsole but on the inside). But the benefits of the skate being able to wrap around your foot better is definitely true.

Hey, really informative review. I really appreciate these. I have a somewhat important question as I'm choosing between the two for full custom: do you find they fit the same lengthwise for the same size? Or is one 8.5 slightly longer than the other?
@HockeyReviews5 жыл бұрын
They are the same lengthwise

@@HockeyReviews Thanks! I think you might be the only reviewer who's found the FT1 less stiff than the AS1. Is the difference really that noticeable? And how much would you put it down to the taller boot in the AS1 (and also the less than comfortable comfortedge thing vs the FT2's rubbery thing)?
@HockeyReviews5 жыл бұрын
If people are saying the FT1 are as stiff as AS1 than they haven't worn both... you can flex the bottom of the boot with your hands with the FT1 where the AS1 is completely solid. The AS1 barely flexes at all, where as the FT1 feels like a pre composite skate almost. For me I could feel the FT1 flex on every stride, the flex is in the entire skate so the taller boot doesn't matter. Comfort edge is just removing hard edges against your ankles on tight turns.
@xz-mf9ep5 жыл бұрын
@@HockeyReviews I'm not sure if I'd like that hm, I might have to try out an FT2 under the 90day guarantee first :P. I assume it's the same kind of flex with the FT2? Ah. Do you find the comfort edge of the FT2 significantly better than that of the AS1?

@@HockeyReviews By the way, you're pretty much the only trustworthy source of information on hockey equipment on the KZbin. I'm not the best at reading between lines of marketing and trying to figure out what actually could make a difference vs. random made-up words and nonsense. It's odd how your channel hasn't completely blown up (in terms of view count) vs like IW or whoever randomly posts videos of gear that was provided to them for free in exchange for regurgitating certain buzzwords. Keep it up!

Hi, Firstly, I love your video, and you did a great job. I have a question, and I wish you could help me and provide some advice. I am 100kg 170cm, skate size 4.5 EE male -0-" (Small feet) I was using an FT1 (Junior size), I used it for 2+ years, and recently I found it's getting soft/more flex. I couldn't push/skate well like in the past. I am looking for a new skate, I tried FT2 it's a great skate but I am thinking would AS1 is more durable than FT2? Because my weight belongs to Senior but my foot size belongs to Junior. My other concern is does it worth changing to old CCM hold to CCM XS or Bauer lightspeed 2? Thank you
@HockeyReviews2 жыл бұрын
I don't think durability would be a huge change from one line to the other. The FT2 is stiffer than the FT1 was so if you are only looking for a bit more stiffness it might not be a bad option to stay in the Jetspeed to ensure you get the proper fit. I would say how your foot fits in the skate is the most important part, and would recommend going by that before the stiffness aspect. I would just use the stock holders they come with, swapping steel is more important than which holder they have.
@StrikeXJacky2 жыл бұрын
@@HockeyReviews My FT1 switched to lightspeed holder and stepsteel because I used to a Bauer fans but not anymore. I am using the polish steel, from FT1, on the AS1. It doesn't feel good to me....I think I will take your advice just get a better steel and stick in the stock holder.
@HockeyReviews2 жыл бұрын
If it is the CCM non-Step steel their steel is hot garbage so it makes sense why it doesn't feel good haha. But I hope you find what you are looking for and you get skates that work!
@USDcarbon4 жыл бұрын
I was told to hold out on any with the 4.0 holders, so that leads me towards the Bauer supremes. Do any of the AS1s come with the new XS Speedblade holders? I don't want to buy a skate that will be hard to get parts for if they stop making them.
@HockeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
AS1 probably won't get the new holders as AS3 Pro are due out in a few months.
@joeylarson25963 жыл бұрын
Are both the ft2 and as1 skates that you have ee. Or do you not need ee on the as1 because it’s already a little bit wider of a skate? Thanks
@HockeyReviews3 жыл бұрын
I am a bad example of this... because I need a wider skate than the Tacks EE offered. So I had to go both but it was because I really don't fit either of them.

Is it me or the ft2 has more forward pitch than the as1 and previous jetspeed models ?

Using Bauer vapor Apx 2 skates in EE wondering how's the width on the FT2 compared to vapors
@HockeyReviews5 жыл бұрын
Forefoot on Vapor should be a bit wider, and the heel should be a bit tighter. Vapor are basically a diamond shape, where Jetspeed is a U shape.

if you are getting ft2/as1 just pay 200$ more to have them custom made to your foot
