Maaaan!!! I feel bad I’m a step behind in the world this week! Thanks for the shout out Zane!!!! Im sorry I just now saw, this week in the real world, it had been very hectic unfortunately and I haven’t had much time. But nothing better than on a Friday night to get caught back up and see a new episode from you. I appreciate all your support genuinely! Now on the bumper, we don’t see too many like that down here, it has a very cool look, has a vintage/outback type look going for it which I dig. Your welds look better than most of mine..great work, keep on keeping on sir!

Nice work 👌 When you are making bracket, connection between plate that goes on frame, and plate on bumper is better when frame plate goes through bumper plate. Then you can weld from both sides, and don't share bottom welds when using winch. Reinforcement triangle should go behind bumper plate to pull that's plate to frame plate and welds are only to support. That way you can use thiner metal for same strength. Use blow torch or some gas burner to heat bracket welds area to high temperature (red color) and leave too cool down on air. That way you will release internal stress from welds.

I think the bumper looks fine. Once you get it painted and the filler pieces in and will hide the stuff you can't stand. That bumper will probably outlast the truck, and will be adapted to the next one 25 years from now.....LOL! Like my dad had a friend that had a hammer he had his whole life...he replaced the handle 7 times and the head twice. I love the widowmaker drill. I have my dad's Black and Decker that weighs around 20 pounds. I just moved it yesterday and noticed the cord was getting pretty bad with dry rot especially up where it enters the handle. You wouldn't know anything about that would you? That's another example of same drill and at least four cords now. Dad wanted to put a trailer hitch on the back of his car back in the early 70s. The car was on a concrete carport and I was on an old wooden creeper. I was braced for impact as I had used that drill before. As you can imagine when that thing caught I went around crashing into every part of that car that hung down and some that didn't. I was a mess of cuts, bruises and general ill will, but got the holes through the bottom of the bumper. Dad thought the whole ride was hilarious and at the time I wasn't of the same opinion. The while stupid move in the equation was being on that creeper. What a knuckle head! I'm 65 now and that drill is wall art. Man do I miss my dad. My life is slowly getting back to normal....as if it ever was. A 6 year legal battle, money woes, my wife of 43 years passing and on top of it all having to have my gall bladder out. I'm severely out of shape but have taken your advice and found a project. It's a junkyard mess of a car hauler trailer that should have stayed put but it came home with me. A lot of my tools have two to three years of dust on them along with myself. I need it to haul some junk on so here I go! Thanks for the nice video. It fits in nicely and the shout out for your friend proves you are truly a class act indeed. Sorry for the long post but that drill made me laugh..... Cheers Terry

Oh, don't ever apologize for a long comment Terry! It always makes my day to see a comment from you my friend! :) Oh, I bet drilling those holes underneath the car was a nightmare! Not to mention the bumps and bruises! I need to get back into shape as well. I let myself go last year and I feel miserable now. Starting to lose the pounds but it's difficult. I couldn't imagine what you're going through with losing your wife. Just know I'm here for you Terry. Always will be 🔧

Those are tow hooks off of a 99-04 super duty. Nice project. Like the 2nd gen dodges with the cummins but bodies Dont last. Especially in the rust belt.
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the view Chuck 🙂👍 I like the Cummins engines too and you're 100% correct on the bodies rusting. My truck is starting to get pretty crispy. Thanks for stopping by my friend. I hope you have a nice Sunday morning 🔧

Just an idea what about putting an extra set of running lights slash signals in the bumper. Cause I thought I saw what looked like a cut out from the backside of the bumper for marker lights or fog lights!
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE8 ай бұрын
That's a good suggestion Roger 😁👍 I think I may do just that. Thanks for stopping by and for leaving a kind comment. Take care and have a wonderful evening 🔧🔩

That bumper looks amazing! Nice job! I don’t think I have seen a dodge truck whose body wasn’t 68% rust. Not sure what metal they make them out of but it’s terrible!

Man good to have you back. You have a good way of making videos, easy to follow and good dictation. But I will say this-if you ever sell that red Dodge, I will unsubscribe immediately. Kidding of course 😂 but love those trucks

LOL! 🤣 I bought it about 7 years ago and sold it, then bought it back after 3 years. I kicked myself when I sold it way back then. I'm really lucky I got to buy it back. Guy I sold it to was very nice and let me know it was up for sale before he listed it. I think it's here to stay 😁👍 Thanks for the view and kind comment Dave. Have a nice evening 🔧🔩

Well done Zane. Kept my attention fir the full length! I needed that bumper last year when i kept hitting deer! Know what you are using for a winch yet?

Thanks for the kind words as always Jason! 😁👍 I think I'm gunna go with the harbor freight Badlands with synthetic rope. Seems to get good reviews and I've got the same model with steel cable and love it. 🔧🔩

That`s a great fab! I would recommend a 12K Badlands Apex winch from HF. For $600 it`s a great value. Are you going to get that bumper re-coated?
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the view and kind comment Alexander! 😁👍 I think that's the winch I'm going with. Gunna try out the synthetic rope I believe. I think I will just spray the bumper down with two good coats of Rustoleum. Good to hear from you my friend! Hope all is well 🔧🔩

So on your 2nd gen Ram, did you delete the center axle disconnect on the stock axle or swap in a 3rd gen axle? I watched the video all the way through. I put it up on the TV and had it going while I straightened up the livingroom a bit and had dinner.
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words and also for the view 😁👍 The CAD side axle is replaced with a solid shaft in the kit. Its still a 2nd Generation axle. Sooo much nicer to drive with the front axle disconnected. Turns a bit better as well. Have a good one and I'll talk to you later 🔧🔩
@bigghoss7628 ай бұрын
@@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE Cool. I have a 98 2500 with a Cummins. A previous owner installed a Posi-Lok for the CAD. Better than the original system but I'm still not crazy about it. I would rather have manual hubs even if it means having to get out to lock them.
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE8 ай бұрын
@@bigghoss762 oh, this kit was well worth the money at the time. When I bought the kit (2015) it was $1,800 and now its closer to $3K 😬 At the time the stock wheel bearings were about $1k and they lasted about a year or so. I thought it was well worth the upgrade

You never said which engine you would use in my build 360magnum, 5.7 Hemi, or 6.4 Hemi
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE8 ай бұрын
I honestly would go the 360 Magnum route if it was me. I like the HP of those 5.7's and 6.4 Hemi's but the have valvetrain issues pretty bad. 🔧🔩
