Watches are so delicate and intricately designed, so I have intense respect and admiration for AMZWATCH watch makers

Pre-Hodinkee you could but a Rolex 5513 Submariners for $900 - $3k, a Paul Newman Daytona for $9k - $20k tops, Mil Subs for $20k, used Nautilus for $7k,used Royal Oaks for $5k. Keep in mind prices were steadily increasing since the 90’s. It was a niche forum watch community. Hodinkee brought a younger generation of watch enthusiasts, but also brought opportunist grandsons of old jewelry stores that had old unsold Rolex watches. They saw the growing hype. Add the hype KZbin dealers and “investment” buying. It ruined the collecting hobby

Love the weekly update idea! But where's Ben? Gotta keep the three-man weave.

The problem is everybody and their Momma is setting up some type after market resale watch business without the verified expertise to back up what they are representing. We always needed better transparency along with expertise and it would have been great to have them figure that out without necessarily having their name on the business.

I think they made the right move. Too many grey marketplaces out there already. Stick to editorial and focus on culture and education.
