@@Amiyelvovna LOL thats to funny. They actually have multiple boats on that lake each day full of tourists seeing the waterfalls and i got flagged down by 2 of them. Them tourists was going wild over that sighting lol. I will get back up there soon and try again!

Now that’s a great hog brother and one heck of a recovery, definitely beats dragging him that’s for sure lol.. great job on the video!
@meatseeker11 ай бұрын
Thanks bud! Thats the biggest one i have ever gotten. The recovery portion of the video was my favorite part lol. Typically that plan works out nicely but i really thought he was going swimming once i pushed him off that small cliff. Im still not sure if a pig floats, need more testing haha.

Great video and the clarity of your video is crazy. I have hunted on Keowee back in the day before it was developed (1990’s) along with Jocassee. Hunting up there is some pretty serious business, I hunted in CO in the Rockies and it was tough! Would you please tell me what kind of camera you shot the video with? The prices are coming down but every man needs to dream!

Thats awesome bud. I actually met an old man that was camping at jocassee in a pop up camper. He said he lives there for deer and turkey season, the entire season. He actually lived down underneath the lake as a child and his family grew and sold what he called salad. I assume that means lettuce or something similar. Thats definitely an interesting and beautiful part of the state. I use 2 gopro hero 11 blacks and to be honest with you i accidentally had my settings off just a bit on this hunt and was disappointed with the footage. I had my iso and ev comp a bit to high and some of it was more exposed than i would have liked. I definitely like that cameras though, they are extremely simple and easy to use and have 5.3k resolution so you can crop in a bit to zoom without loosing to much quality.

@@meatseeker It's one of my favorites too. I grew up swimming up there in the summer before it became so popular. Now in the summers it's crazy crowded. I've kayaked and camped up there, just haven't managed to hunt it yet. Gonna have to put some time in to do some scouting for next year.

I'm 46 yrs old and just getting into hunting. Gonna hit Sumter National forest for the first time here soon. I know it's late but got to believe I can find a good deer somewhere in there. I watched the video with the muzzle loader. Any tips or pointers about the place you may could give?
@meatseeker Жыл бұрын
@@billylloyd1604 I have hunted down there for years and the number one tip i can give you is to hunt with the wind in your face. Don’t believe the claims on scent blocking clothing or sprays (they do help but are not perfect). Those deer get hunted pretty much every day so they are extremely familiar with the scent of a hunter but with the wind in your face they cant smell you. Many of the areas down there have been logged in the past and replanted with pine trees but mostly on the ridges and places that heavy equipment can more easily operate so usually you can find mature hardwoods in the creek bottoms and rivers were the ground is steeper or muddy. I would find some hardwoods that have deer tracks or less obvious disturbed leaves like i showed in this hog video and set up down wind of that area and usually the deer will come out to feed at the last hour of daylight in those area. Hopefully this helps you out bud. If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask.

Do you blend your wild hog with domestic hog meat when grinding?
@meatseeker4 ай бұрын
I mostly make sausage with them and i use the fat trimmings from store bought pork butts to boost my fat content. I don’t blend any actual meat with my hogs just the fat. They have all been really good from up there.

Just randomly found this video today and subscribed! I’m in western NC. Do you know of any good hog hunting in the NC mountains? I might even look into coming down to SC sometime.
@meatseeker4 ай бұрын
Thats great bud and i appreciate it. I dont know much about the nc game lands but the nc side of jocassee coming in from gorges state park in nc will most definitely have hogs. I believe the trail is called auger hole and i have heard mixed reviews about its condition. Some say its a nice easy trail and others will tell you its extremely difficult so i would recommend a day trip before season to check out the road conditions before you head off in there alone and in the dark.
