Nice shot, my first 454 was the Thompson center encore, then i picked up the ruger super redhawk 454. The winchester partition gold, 260 grain at 1900 ft per second is excellent for deer and boar. My favorite round.

I got a Ruger Alaskan in 454 casull a few days ago myself, pretty awesome tool to shoot some hogs. People complain that hogs taste nasty or too gamy, just cure it with water or milk for a couple hours and you're good to go.

I've chronographed a 250 gr. LSWC GC at 1865 fps when it topped 36 grains of H110. I can't imagine anybody would need that much horse power to kill a wild pig but the Freedom Arms Model 83 will handle that kind of energy. Hodgdon (2011 data) lists a load of 26 grains of H110 under a 325 gr. LFN cast bullet and that load shows a velocity of 1511 fps (9.375" barrel). It's a great round, not the most powerful cartridge on the market but it has taken rhino, elephant and cape buffalo. There's certainly nothing on this side of the Atlantic it won'd take down. Good video.

I've had both the 8" Raging Bull and the 6" Ruger in 454 Casull. The Raging Bull is fun to shoot; the Ruger has no recoil mitigation so it was like getting hit in the palm with a sledgehammer. I sold that, kept the Raging Bull. Great hunting handgun.

I just bought a 6.5 inch Ruger Super Black Hawk 454 Casull single-action. It is a beast ! I can comfortably shoot one handed 335 grain, if needed. Two hands is the way to go for accuracy or resting on something like in this video

I love the 454 round it's a hard hitter, I've had a couple raging bulls and one freedom arms.but no matter how hard I try handguns are worthless in my hands.so I had a local gunsmith 're barrel among some other modifications a Remington model 7 bolt gun into a 454 ,what I ended up with is a 4 round capacity rifle with a 16" barrel we put a Leopold scout mount and scope on it flip style backed up by Williams peep sights fully loaded the gun weighs just under 6 lbs and prints 3 round groups under a inch at 100 yards.and with heavy hand loads will bust through the heaviest Florida swamp brush and kill whatever it encounters.we have a bad wild hog problem down here some of these razor backs reach 300 lbs and have the temper of a rabid pit bull.
