Great review! The cool thing about Hogue, which I think deserves props, is they seem to listen to customer feedback. Your thoughts are consistent with most I’ve seen (and share myself)… “man this is a good knife, I wish the pocket clip was better and they used less screws.” Hogue: “we hear ya, here’s V2 with less screws and a deep carry clip.” I love a company that listens to its customers. I will for sure be getting a Gen2 when they come out. Thanks for looking at it and as always keep up the awesome content! 🤜🤛

I LOVE my Deka! So much in fact I bought a second one to do a blade and hardware swap since I couldn't find a black handle with satin Wharncliffe blade and clip. I carry two knives, usually a smaller main use knife and a larger "heavy duty" knife that doesn't get used nearly as often, and the Deka and BM Super Freek have filled those roles absolutely perfectly.
@commandlion86672 жыл бұрын
This knife is absolutely worth it. It's light, has superb action, slices like a laser and has really good ergos for it's size. First, I bought the Deka Rev2 in blue lava g-mascus with a black 20cv wharnie blade a few months ago. I like that knife so much I just purchased two more - a SMKV Exclusive marbled CF w/gold color swirl Scorpion clip-point in magnacut and a Collector Series CF 20CV w/blue Ti hardware and Tritium crossbar. I only have 15 knives (so far), but 3 are Dekas.

I have, and prefer, the Bugout(mini) because its got a really simple classic looking design. I can definitely see why someone thats looking for a more stylized modern or "tactical look might prefer the Deka. Its a really good looking knife. I almost guarantee youll love it no matter which you prefer

I personally like the feel and ergonomics of the deka over the bugout. I own multiple of both (actually have more dekas now). The bugout is only great with titanium or carbon fiber scales. I didn’t think so until I swapped them on mine. The deka is great out the box as is.

Soon as the Deka V2 hits at the end of the year or Q1 of 2022, the Blue G Mascus is mine! Able Lock is definitely superior to the Axis lock. Smoother and the springs are tougher.

Are you ever going to do a video on the magnacut version and touch on customizations options that have popped up? I feel like it is a great value compared to bugout+customs and a top tier value in the market today. My research for my first "premium" knife would have been much better if that review already existed from you Love the channel regardless!

To get the ball rolling there are several aftermarket scales out their (OG is the biggest but flytanium just dropped scales as well). For the cheaper price and better steel I would love an updated comparison. Love the channel regardless!

@@evancobb6622 awesome deal and yes both S30V and 154 CM are great all around steels. S30V is still one of the best rounded steels out there. Great edge retention, stainless, easy to sharpen. Easy to get a great heat treat. 154 is the same way with less edge retention but still pretty good.

Addendum, sorry, I would say Hogue has some of the best value knives period, not just USA knives. The price of the Deka is competitive, maybe even slightly better, than even foreign made knives. I have been very impressed and am currently enjoying my purple Mini-RSK quite a bit.

I own both the Deka and the Bugout. With the exception of the 20CV steel, I prefer my Bugout. The Deka is more interesting looking (I have the blue lava scales, modified to be skinnier by Outpost76, plus aftermarket deep carry clip). The main issue I have with it is that the omega springs are very weak on mine. While that makes for smooth action, it can quite easily be wrist flicked open, without using the thumb studs or disengaging the crossbar lock. And I mean extremely easy. So far it hasn't come open in the pocket, but it is a concern of mine. Legally, this could cause an issue if "gravity" knives are illegal where you live. Not an issue here in Ohio, but something to be aware of. All in all, I don't hate the knife, and I got a great deal on it from a guy I met in an FB EDC group. But if I'd have known that an updated version was coming out, I'd probably have waited.

Another great thing about the V2 Dekas coming out is they are doing a polymer version with 20CV still and they are trying to hit a $105 price point. I hope some aftermarket companies like Flytanium start making scales/screw sets/clips for the Deka.

@@grogdocr I've been collecting for about 40 years, but in a very limited fashion (don't have the funds to get crazy) - what I will say about the Deka, compared to all the knives I own - it feels the most like an extremely precise cutting tool, like what a surgeon would carry as an EDC. Something about the silent and smooth action of the lock, the thin blade stock, and the edge they put on the 20cv blade. Mine is the modified Wharncliffe - and it's just nuts. Enjoy!
