Hogue EX-T01 Tomahawk - Collection Selection No.52

The Hogue EX-T01 Tomahawk is a gorgeous weapon/tool designed by famed knifemaker Allen Elishewitz. It's bearded ax blade is knife-sharp, though thick behind the edge like an ax should be. The hammer pol opposite the blade would do well in knocking noggins, breaking glass or pounding in ten stakes. The overall package is small and the EX-T01 handles more like a knife than a hatchet, which is no surprise considering Elishewitz is an expert in knife combatives. If tomahawks are your thing, you owe it to yourself to check this Hogue out!

It is a pretty sweet tomahawk but expensive, yes. Luckily I received this one as a gift!

Have you put it through its paces and see how it performs?

No sir, I have not. To me, this is more of a weapon than tool, the blade geometry is more knife-like than ax-like to me, so if I ever do test it, it would be against softer targets. That said, it seems like it could handle small camp chores quite well, though the edge might be keener than needed for some ax tasks.

Mine is in the post! I ordered the spike aswell, Usually I have Rmj tomahawk which are built like tanks...looking forward to trying something different. How are you getting on with yours?

Cando won Pressup I am still loving mine though I cannot bring myself to thump on it even for testing, I’m still in that honeymoon phase. Since the moment I first laid eyes on an RMJ, I’ve listed after almost everything they make, but especially the model with the bearded blade with the back spike, is that the one you have?

TheKnifeJunkie glad your still loving the Hogue. I have owned 3 Rmj tomahawks, all with the spikes. The Eagle talon, the longest and heaviest in that style. The Shrike which I used extensively, great grip and medium length (was 15 inches) and the Kestrel feather which is my current go to because of its light weight, the grip is narrow and nowhere as good as the shrike but I’m hoping the hogue will bridge the gap between the shrike and feather. Nice and lightweight, inbetween length of the two, nice chunky grip and the sheath system seals the deal. I know it’s a partial tang but I’ve researched g10 and it seems normal use would not be a problem. A lot of strong folders have g10 with no liner and they stand up very well (hogue folders for example) and they don’t have roughly a 7.5 inch deep tang held in with 3 large screws. So fingers crossed. Il be using it next year when the weather picks up. Il give you a update
