If this doesn't help: There's a memory leak of some kind happening which gets worse during a play session. Restart the game (and maybe reboot PC) every hour to two hours to clear it up until they patch it.

None of this worked for me. Not to mention the exploit fix opens up security issues. But I did find a fix for my 4070 laptop. I discovered everything related to DLSS causes stuttering and crashes on this game. I tried without success: - Exploit fix - Manually updating DLSS files - Increasing shader cache - Every in-game setting possible Here's what worked for me: - Use AMD FSR 2.0 No, I am not joking. My FPS is maintained, no microstutters, no crashes.

To, EVERYONE.... i was suffering from huge FPS drops. Nothing worked Absolutely nothing worked. Even increased my ram to 32Gb still didn't work, I took a harsh step and then everything runs normal and the step is DELETE WINDOWS 11 and go back to WINDOWS 10. I'm 1000000% sure it will work, if not then please feel free to abuse me.

I'm playing on a PS5, so the lag/stutter issues weren't an issue for me, but my spouse has the Steam/PC version (3070 w/latest drivers) and the game there was completely unplayable. Basically, it seems to happen anywhere there are lots of NPCs milling about? Anyway, just that one exploit protection mod basically fixed about 80% of the stutter and lag (tested it in Hogsmeade). The other settings adjustments (took some, but not all) smoothed things out further. So thank you!

This game is using almost 21 GB of Ram Memory. If you are running 16Gb like most people do and 2 more sticks and bump it to 32Gb. now i average 100 fps and smooth running on Ultra settings

Yeah, I think saying this game has more spaghetti code than Cyberpunk 2077 would be an understatement. There's stuttering even on my RTX 4070 ti, and Ray Tracing doesn't look any different from the regular shadows and reflections, yet takes up double the amount of frames. 💀

It seems like your pc is the limitation here. Or lower the graphics, bcs to get only 40 on the castle your gpu must be weak

Hi, just curious about what is wrong with that? My CPU uses 100 percent whenever I open any application and then settles to 30ish percent. Is it the prolonged period of time at 100 percent which is the issue? This comment comes from genuine curiosity as I don't understand PCs too well and don't want to damage mine doing something I would regret.

By 'that' I meant using 100 percent because I don't know how that leads to worse problems if I have more processing power.

​@@harimistry7018When a game operate it should use GPU not the CPU if the CPU is using utilisation is more than GPU then it's bottleneck which could harm you laptop or burn the ram.

@@Cqjv normal applications will use memory and then release the memory when it no longer needs it. If a program has a memory leak, it will fail to release some of the memory it uses, and so over time the memory usage will keep increasing until the system is out of memory, which causes a huge performance hit

GPU- RTX 3080, 2tb M.2 firecudda, CPU AMD 5900x, ram is lower end 16gb think i was gonna get the 32gb set but was overkill for what i was intentionally playing and sold out and still sold out rn. mobo is Asus Dark hero VIII. this is probably the only game i can't run on ultra without having issues that ive tested on. other games yea i can run it on ultra with slight frame drops but it was never this huge. i've even ran it on lower settings to test still same issue. ran it on automatic/suggested settings for my setup same issue. my monitor isn't the best Samsun Odysse but it's alright. everything uncapped on all my settings 1st EDIT- checked drivers again apparently i had a GPU update despite i already had an update like 2 days ago. might end up fixing the issue it has in other games will test out right now 2nd EDIT- Updated NVIDIA driver, rechecked windows for any other updates said 0. Restarted my character since i really wasn't far into the game only around the 1st main quest where im running to my charms/defence class. During the major cutscenes and just looking at the areas where there were major lag spikes or glaring issues game wise it seemed to have gotten better. did not touch any setting only thing i did change was my volume via my keyboard switch which is just a knob i can turn left or right to raise or lower the volume. floor in gringots looked more crisp compared to blocky particles when further away, Hogwarts sorting ceremony cutscene which had MAJOR lag still had lag issues but it wasn't as bad. still pretty bad though but not insanely bad to the point where it felt like it was running at 10fps or less. Also had less lag throughout that entire cutscene/ceremony compared to before which was pretty much throughout the entire thing. what i also didn't do was Alt Tab out despite game is in Fullscreen window mode some games when you do Alt tab out for some reason cause a lag issue. not entirely sure why they do this but has happened to me countless times with mmorpg's that i play regularly. if set to fullscreen ( non window mode ) it's almost 100% likely to happen, window mode doesn't happen at all but in fullscreen window it happens frequently. to me seems like a issue on their end they need to fix regardless of PC specs. there is one other option i can try and do which had a lag related issue with WoW which is if you are running razer naga products it runs a program in the background idk what exactly it does but with my old computer with it running and running WoW i would lag with low FPS running 20fps when i normally ran around 70's ( that game doesn't have high demand graphics even on ultra ) latency was usual otherwise 120's which is normal for me due to their server location and where i live given i played on the server with the lowest possible latency available to me. the program is called Razer SDK basically if you close it out via task manager latency/FPS goes up. problem is everytime you start the game you'd have to do this. idk why it was like that but it worked. could try with this game but i haven't had any issues outside of this game with frames/lag so seems pretty pointless

So the issue is still there in a small scale, it still sticks from time to time, but it is severely better and won't hang on it for like 30+ seconds like it used to. Before I would use the Revelio spell to kind of jump start the fps back to normal, sometimes needing to spam it. Haven't had any that just stuck on end, it eventually fixes itself now so thanks o/

Hey ! Would you mind telling me the rest of your settup please ??? Because this tutorial didn't work for me. I am currently on GTX 1080 Ti (yeah i need an update) and was considering buying a RTX 3080 which seemed good enough and in my budget, especially since my Hogwarts Legacy has been very random about lagging since i started playing (a month ago). These last days, i really can't enjoy the game anymore, suddenly in 1 day i went from running on 60fps and all High settings like 80% of the time (sometimes had to lower some settings to medium) to not being able to enjoy the game all, with almost all settings on Medium or Low and still annoying lags TT

​@@mijuryu9021If you're planning on making the upgrade, I'd also recommend upgrading your ram as well because the game is a glutton for it. I have an RTX 4070 ti myself and was still having a bit of stuttering once and a while because this gams was using up all 16 gigs of ram I had.

I did this plus set everything to low rather than medium and it is now smooth and playable. Same thing worked for Far Cry 5 just FYI. My option was Nvidia NIS not DLSS and that worked wonders despite having AMD or just select none

FIX FOR AMD CPU FPS ISSUES! UPDATE YOUR AMD CHIPSET DRIVERS!!!!! I was having the issues with FPS drops to 1 fps in Hogsmead. I am running an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, a nVidia RTX 2060 GPS, and 16 GB RAM. My motherboard has an AMD 570X chipset. I am running the latest nVidia drivers (528.49). I did have an older AMD Chipset Driver installed. Upon updating the chipset drivers (4.11.15.342) and selecting the AMD Performance Power Plan under the control panel, WOW, all my FPS studdering issues DISAPPEARED! I was able to crank up my graphical settings, turn on motion blurring and the such, without studdering issues. I was also able to disable all other "fixes" that did "help, but not solve" without any hit to my performance after updating the chipset drivers. Such as the editing of the ENGINE.INI and the nVidia Control Panel alterations. I do not know if this is a fluke. But it has solved my FPS issues.

Getting a solid 90 frames per second with this on a 3070TI, it's not 144fps but for a story game like this that's not necessary. Cheers for the info. It's stopped the stuttering which was the biggest issue

TL;DR: Consider upgrading you RAM to 32GB. This is the only thing helped me. I've found the only way to fix the stuttering and high frametime and it is...to upgrade your RAM lol. I have had the following config: - i5-10400f - RTX 3060ti - 16 GB RAM (DDR4 cl18) I did everything i could find across the internet to fight these lags, nothing could fix it entirely. I noticed that the game ate 15gigs out of 16 installed, so i checked the difference between 16gb and 32gb in performance in Hogwarts Legacy and it looked kinda promising. Today my 32GB pack had arrived. The stutters are GONE. Like, completely. As of the moment, i have an absolutely flawless and "dropless" gameplay. It's an amazing pleasure to play it now. Please, pin it 'cause i think a lot of people have 16GB (or even less lol..) configs.

Stuttering is one thing. My doesn't even look this colorful. It looks so dull and the graphics rendering is so bad. Like I have to stay in some areas for few seconds for graphics to render perfectly. EDIT: I did all this now my game goes in not responding mode after starting.

This video has had brightness, sharpening and colour added to it in editing. But if you would like to make yours look better, maybe check your tv/monitor color settings or if you're on PC use nvidia control panel to change some things.

RTX 4090 this doesn’t fix anything I’m still getting hundred plus FPS but always spikes of stuttering. I ended up just buying it for the PS five at least that runs flawlessly some graphical downgrades, but nothing noticeable on a 65 inch OLED TV

I don’t understand, I built my own computer I have a Ryzen 5 5600 overclocked, a 1650 super 16gb of ddr4, 500gb ssd 600w power supply, and a tuf gaming motherboard. I can play cyberpunk, any assassins creed any far cry, call of duty with no stutter or lag at all, but this is the only game that does it on every thing low, I don’t understand???

Useless video. Of course you have to adjust the quality if you want more fps, lol. As for the first part, I have no idea what it does and would be surprised if it has any impact. The problem being for me that in some areas, hogsmead or some part of Hogwarts, the fps drops dramatically low for no apparent reason on a RTX 3080. It seems to be some memory swap issues I believe.
