Out of nowhere Hogwarts Legacy just announced a massive update coming specifically to the PC version of the game. We’re going to cover everything that’s coming in that update, but I’ll also explain why this is actually a big deal for all fans.
Moments ago, the team over at Avalanche released a brand new trailer confirming that official mod support is coming to Hogwarts Legacy - and it’s coming much sooner than you may think.

Mod support is slowly starting to be a console possibility. For example: Arma, Fallout, Skyrim, Baldurs Gate, etc... How about instead of saying FUCK YOU to the console players who also spent $90 dollars on the game get the same content or nobody gets anything at all.. This is an amazing and unexpected update for the game! It'll definitely keep replayability high until the sequel drops. Not to mention the already rumoured updates for the higher quality graphics and Definitive Edition! If the latter is to be expected then 2025 will be a solid year for Hogwarts Legacy!

That hidden update looks like another quest because it has the same symbol in the top corner as does the quest above. I'd like to see a VR mod added, as you can play this game in VR using UEVR program, but currently there's no hand control.

With how popular this game was when it was released, I find it amazing some DLC has been offered yet with the exception of the Hogsmeade shop. I enjoyed playing this game. Got each house character to lvl 40, started one over, then I'm like ok, come on..... Look forward to some new content!

Exactly. Plus this is only for PC making it useless for console players. I havent play HL in over a year. Mostly because it lacks in so many departments & fell woefully short of what it was supposed to be. Its like when the community wanted sitting in gameplay then they come out with " We've added sitting- Ya- to photomode" 😑😑😑 "bUT wHY wOULd yOU wANT tO SIT dOwN?" I'll raise that comment with " bUT wHY wOUld yOU wANT tO cAsT sPeLLS?" They had a year & a half to add in really low hanging fruit content & just added what should have been there in the first place & slap the " Summer update" on it. Couldn't even add in spells like reducto, incarcerous & more. Or even a permanant crossed wands but I'm not sure if thats low hanging content. What about adding unlimted waves to battle arenas instead of just 7 waves? Or how about adding in CONJURABLE TRAINING DUMMIES FOR THE ROR! Another piece of absent content.

There's been a mod for multiplayer, I believe called HogWarp, that has been out for some time. I wonder if that will make it into official support. I'd love to see it, but I believe it does required a dedicated server to be running on someone's PC in order for the players to connect with each other. Would be cool to see a quidditch mod with multiplayer enabled allowing you to connect to a server with your own single player character and play some Team quidditch.

You know, for having almost 13 gigs on the PS5, or having that big of an update size on any game platform and no new content, the devs could have increased and added more beast slots in vivarium and more item slots.

Even if Mods do come to consoles PlayStation players are almost certainly gonna get the short end of the stick, Mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on the PlayStation were *extremely* limited compared to on the Xbox (it made me regret my choice in console until Marvel’s Spider-Man came out).

@@RetroRaconteur BG3 has some insane mod support on all platforms. XBox, PS5 and Mac are currently sitting around 300 mods available, with more being added pretty much weekly. I do hope that if Hogwarts Legacy does get mod support on console, that it gets similar treatment to BG3, rather than Skyrim and Fallout 4

I dont think mods will be coming to switch. The fact that HL was able to launch on switch is itself an extremely big deal. The switch is barely now able to handle such a heavy game & if the mods are added, the game may crash frequently. I only have a switch which I play HL on as well.

I will say after careful thought - Adding in mods to the game and not porting it for console is kinda of criminal. Think about the logistics of the issue - 1. A game change / update that is applicable only to one player group can be considered financial discrimination - (People who can’t afford to play on beefy PC’s play console) 2. The game is now incomplete for console players as this update or addition to the game for PC only if at no additional cost would make it so people have paid the same price, for less content. Not cool WB, not cool.

Avalanche are basically using players as devs. Instead of giving us new content they have us do their job instead. Sorry but this is just lazy to me. Other studios that made far less money with their games have done so much more in terms of giving back to the players in comparion to Avalanche.

Like if people add companions or morality system into the game, when they bring the DLC with the same features wouldn’t that be kind of damaging for them? Since fans can already get it for free without paying through mods. Overall, I have mixed feelings for this update.. sure I can experiment a little but it doesn’t feel like it’s something official and the story that we all love has yet to continue. The positive side is that we didn’t know about this update so we didn’t have to wait and then be ‘disappointed’ for its contents. I just really really hope we get the DLC soon because it seems like they are dragging it and dragging it with these updates. @ 99% of mods aren't created by the first party company, they are always third party and community made. So don't blame mods for wasting the developers time instead of making dlc/content for the game becuase that isn't the case. Mods make it harder for the sequel to come out because so much gets added to the original. It can make the sequel feel like a technical step back when it launches without mod features.

I don't think this is update. It is moding option. For those who don't like the game as it is, at least more than 50%, right? I mean I just use "pale skin" mod, that's all. I don't want to ride dragon, or chair and all with blue face. The game is beautiful masterpiece and can be only broken experience with mods. Maybe some new stylish clothes and that's it.
