In having an issue where the textures are loading in as their very low detail and blurry versions. It seems to fix if I stand in place for a minute or two but I thought the newer version of this was supposed to have fixed it entirely

Probably I would crack it up the settings a bit more and lock it at 30. I have a steam deck, but this one I bought on PS5, which has a decent 60 mode yet I preferred the RT one and lock it at 30. In my opinion totally worth it.

It's working, thank you. 1 thing tho. You should write the "make a back up file" thing before the "copy that file here" bcs I bet there are ppl like me who follow the instructions step by step and not read all before starting the process :P It seems I am ble to get stable 30fps at medium/high setting. only shadows and sky low

I did this settings and it made it look way worse and performance was negatively affected as well. I just revert back to my backup and it runs way better and looks way better. I try it on the steam Deck, not sure why we got different results but I am sticking with the files the game came with.

have you applied all of the files, including .dll file? still using this mod files until now, no issue so far, 60 fps working well on some places, average 50-55 fps on busy/crowded place.

@@widypriasmoro I did replace the dll and add those two ini files and after moving around for a few minutes the game start having weird bug where it slows down significantly. My guess is that every area is kept in ram. Only difference I had was that swappiness is 1 but it shouldn't make a difference. I also realize that the game look darker with unrealistic shadows.

Idk how, but the game went from unplayable to looking decent and very playable with 0 stuttering. Although I was getting around 38-50fps, never 60fps (not even highs) Still very playable though. Edit: on ultra performance fsr 2.0, the game can manage a stable 60fps Thank you!

i think Balance FSR 2 is enough. Ultra Performance too blurry on my Steam Deck.

The performance is all over the place for me. I'm cool with 40 to 50 but mine keeps lingering around 17 to 25 in some areas. The depluso challenge is unplayable for me on deck.

this configuration is less effort to anyone. Only need to copy paste the *.ini file and *.dll file to the specific location.

if i am not wrong, this dll will be used to help caching lighting render in the game to make it clear and perfect, but this dll already modded, so it will use memory management efficiently.

Are you using a tweaked version of Ascendio Mod? thinking about applying it but yours seems similar

nope, i never tried ascendio, some people said it similar, i read the comments on Ascendio's post on Nexusmod, he shrink some files too, but i am not sure what is that. And also what i did is tune some parameters from Unreal Engine [dot]ini files, and remove what not supported on Steam Deck, so it will be optimized.

I applied Ascendio 2 plus Cryoutilities, Capped the GPU clock Freq at 2800, TDP 12, GPU cap at 1000 and obviously low settings….Damn near locked 30 w/ 2 frame dips in very busy places

So what's the reason for the swapiness chnage from 1 to 60. Are we concerned that hogwarts is using up the 12gb of ram letter after increasing vram to 4gb? Will increasing swapiness reduce life of ssd?

60 swappiness is the Linux default. It's like this for all major linux distributions. It is the way it was supposed to work.

nope, this is the safest way to maintain the RAM and swapfile. By default SteamOS gave too high on RAM (swapiness 100), where a higher value will make the kernel aggressively try to use swap space. And if is it too low means the kernel will try to avoid swapping as much as possible. Linux OS by default using 60.

@wdnk23 thanks guys makes sense. Unlike my awful auto text lol. Not too hot on Linux so wasn't aware of defaults. I set mine to 50 but may increase to 60. I guess the 100 was due to the extremely small default swap size of 1gb. Usually if swap is ~equal to ram makes alot of sense. But 1gb was obviously due to 64gb model. I'm upgrading my 64gb to a saberant 1tb gen 4 ssd so nice fast swap also 😉. Thanks for response guys.

yes, some of mods in nexus-mod can be applied on Steam deck. You need to put the necessary mod files in Desktop mode, and then play like usual in gaming mode.

I’ve decided to sell my steam deck because it just requires so much configuration, where as something like a Nintendo switch just works out of the box. If I wanted to play PC games, I would just buy a gaming desktop.

i agree, this steam deck and every handheld mobile PC, it's not for everyone. Because the PC game developers only focused on recommended specs. Not Steam deck specs. It's different when the developer focused on developing games for Nintendo Switch which just only one specs. But, i really appreciate on the Proton developer who make most of PC games optimized for Steam deck, although only medium settings.
