This whole part broke my heart. The way Sebastian drops his wand in shock of what he just did. The pained look on his face when he saw Anne. But his ambition ruined him. He still kept focusing on the dark magic stuff, frustrated that Anne burned the book. He got extremely defensive talking to the mc outside of the catacomb. But later in the undercroft, he expressed his regret. He’s just a traumatized teenage mess. It’s so tragic and sad.

"It is true, the dark arts truly costs you everything." Only because the writers force characters to be morons. Sebastian, Solomon, Anne, and Ominis, are all about as dumb and narrow-minded as it gets. None of them makes rational decisions, and the dialogue options they give us as a player aren't much better. It's either the 'morally correct', but clearly stupid choice, or the 'morally bad'/ambiguous choice that makes more sense; there's no nuance, no third or fourth option. All just to tell us as the player "hurrdurrr see what you caused just to unlock the strongest and coolest spells in the game, asshole? Now go have fun with them."

I also tried using the curses for good purposes, but the game simply won't let me. Tried insta killing a boss as I knew for sure he was going to pull some honor-less move. Instead the game left him at 1HP and entered a cut-scene where, like I predicted he used a lowlife honor-less move that got my companion hurt. Something that could have been completely prevented if the game would have just let me do what I set out to do. *Master Windu in the background* "He's too dangerous to be left alive!"

But according to this guy it could never happen and we’re all doooooomed to wild werewolves for eternity. He was super nasty to Sebastian. It reminded me of Vernon Dursley, Harry’s own uncle that would scream and threaten him anytime Harry tried to HAVE an opinion.

Some people here don't understand a simple thing. Imagine if your sister has a disease and the only way to cure It is to kill people and sell drugs. Then, your uncle, a former policeman, doesn't want you to do that and then you shoot him because he destroyed the drugs you were about to sell. This is a similar situation to what happens in the game but with magic terms. What I'm saying is that Sebastian did the wrong thing and should face consequences, no matter how likeable he is.
@Vioven Жыл бұрын
He was screaming at this kid for trying to give his sister the shrivel fig fruit and kicking him out of the house. Exactly. And there can't be enough emphasis on how, after explaining multiple times that Unforgivables have to be cast with pure intent, the first thing Sebastian does after murdering his uncle is that *didn't* mean it. Sebastian Sallow is the best character of Hogwarts Legacy, like him or not. People tend to forget what being the best character of a certain game, series or movies is. Its not about being morally correct, or appeal to the public. It’s about terms of writing and making the character interesting. Take for example Makima. She is the worst of the worst characters, and that’s cool with me because she is interesting. Yet the csm fandom are unable to understand that: They absolutely hate her and don’t appreciate her good writing. What does this have to do with Seb? I wanna explain how Hogwarts Legacy made me strongly like, yet dislike him. Making me contradict the point I just made. They did such a clever thing with this character that I dare to say they weren’t even aware of how well the story turned out to be. Let’s start from the very beginning. there are two endings to this quest, which frankly, I consider the both to be equally tragic we could choose if to report him or keep his new secret safe with us. Now assuming we did report him he would be expelled and sentenced to life in prison in Azkaban, the prison whose guards are dementors. That place is not for redemption, it’s a punishment. Sebastian is a 15 year old boy. I decided to not turn him in, because he still can be redeemed and because it would be hypocrite of me to turn him in after using the unforgivabke curses over one hundred times -althought I used it on enemies, not my own family-. Even though I chose not to turn him in, I believe the best ending is where he is turned in. It’s the most dramatic and Ominis reaction is heartbreaking. However, when we don’t turn him in it’s almost as if he barely felt anything for killing his uncle. There is no emotion and the characters seem to emphatize way too much with him, he doesn’t deserve us talking to him. He is a murderer, and he should know that. But that just makes it even better. As I said before, hes a 15yo boy. He has no clue of what he has just done. I don’t think he understandts the awful choice he made, and how much pain he caused to his sister. The fact that he is hopeful that one day Anne may forgive him is shameless. I said that both endings are equally tragic because Anne leaves him in both. After finishing Sebastian’s quest, you are free to go to Feldcroft, which I did out of curiosity, and you will find Anne’s letter that reads ''Sebastian, I still love you but i dont know if i will ever be able to forgive you. I miss uncle Solomon. I'm leaving'' Anne is the victim of the whole quest. She lost not only his uncle, but his brother aswell. You cannot look at the face of your own brother that murdered a member of your family. On top of that she still has the curse and will probably die from it, given how terrible the pain she is in is presented. Why is this quest so great I dare to say -and I know im not alone- that Sebastian’s quest is even more interesting than the main quest. It has wonderful characters that you can get attached to quickly. Now going back to the begging of the essay, what exactly made me hate sebastians character yet still love him? How unpredictable the way his uncle died was. I imagined that if someone had to die in that quest, it would be his uncle, but as a mistake, malfunction of the relic, perhaps. But no. None of that. Sebastian Sallow murdered his uncle with his own wand. We get presented a set of characters that are drastically changed with the progression of the story. Sebastian used to be a sassy and charismatic young boy, but he was turned into a killer who didn’t seem to realize the gravity of his situation - innocent as a child- still thinks ends justify the means and that his sister will forgive him. I still love Sebastian, but he did something so unexpected that it genuinely shocked me, and changed the way I see him. I believe he can only be represented under a dramatic light, from now on.

The uncle would rather be a corpse then a heretic and die for some misplaced morals. The ministry uses crusio too so it’s only unforgivable if the lower class use dark magic. Ironic that “dark” magic is just magic the ministry can’t control entirely which is why they use it but get offended when someone uses it against them. I Their uncle is the type to blood let to cure someone and when it doesn’t work he would blame them for being a sinner. I don’t feel bad that he died because he was so obsessed with his own perceived purity that he would throw her in a wood chipper to prove it. The fact that no one condones Azkaban shows that the system in control is broken.

Solomon cast blasting curses at Sebastian and the mc. He proactively hindered any attempt at even bringing COMFORT to Anne. We know that Solomon blames Sebastian for his and Anne's parents death, we know that Solomon is an outright cruel and hypocrite bastard. He gave up on his niece but more than that condemed her to death. When Sebastian, out of extreme desperation, turned his attention to dark stuff and went through hell, only to see all his attempts go in vain, he reacted naturally. What he did is not excusable, however, as we know later in the story, Sebastian regrets it. Sending him to Azkaban is still unfair, as that would torture what remains of his soul, until there is nothing left of it. So much for killing the TRUE murderer Solomon is.

I clapped out of joy when Sebastian used the killing curse on Solomon. Not once did Sebastian uses the dark arts to harm others, on the contrary, Solomon uses everything he has in his tool kit trying to kill Sebastian, haven't seen him tried as hard when Anne was nearly killed by the goblin. Means result in the End. Sebastian didn't use curses as a last resort besides Crucio. Solomon was being reasonable overall. In all times, that Sebastian uses a curse the player is either around him, defends it, or encourages it. He didn't have to use that curse on the Goblin or kill his Uncle. He chose to. While I believe that knowledge shouldn't be demonized or forbidden, I do also believe that knowledge shouldn't be misused. If you ever heard of the saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, then that embodies what happened with Sebastian. If you look at the traits of a Slytherin then it is not surprising to see why they are usually looked at badly. The traits for a Slytherin are cunning, ambition, resourcefulness, determination, pride, self-preservation, shrewdness. Those traits are geared to focusing on the end goal and not worrying about the means needed to reach said goal. As seen Sebastian was perfectly willing to kill his Uncle if it meant he could reach his goal. "Or perhaps in Slytherin, You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folk use any means, To achieve their ends." - Sorting Hat

maybe this game would have been impressive if it came out 3 years ago. Just testifies to how pathetic gaming community is that they start gushing over game with generic graphics from the last 5 years, with a a fairly standard free-roam map and loads of nostalgic fandom stuff thrown in i.e sorting hat, avada kedavra.... it looks okay, but certainly doesn't deserve all this accolade that already seems destined to recieve.

That's what hype buying is, even if the game is average, people will just bandwagon hype 😂

Yeah you’re right. This game is sort of underwhelming for me. The Story is kinda forgettable, graphics are okay, and the open world isn’t as good as it could’ve been. I was imagining Skyrim but with Harry Potter, and I didn’t get it

It looks like it came out 5 years ago but its still a lot of fun. Graphics aren't everything mate. Sure the main story is bland and is even corny at times, but the sense of wonder and desire to discover almost everything the game world has to offer is definitely there. Not every story has to be a tear-jerking high-stakes mega blockbuster to be enjoyable. That said the facial animations in this game haunt my nightmares. Idk, they try to make the kids seem animated but their facial movements just seem so static, its uncanny haha.
