I just took apart two of mine (C&G) and, using the info found in the last 5 minutes of the video, discovered the bottom plate (on both) were installed upside down. Then by just lubing the slider, plates and mouthpiece (I used "cork grease" - the kind reed players use for their mouthpieces) I improved the performance of both harmonica 100%. Bravo!

Grand job, my only criticism as a restorer in many fields, When you sanded the piece you would end up with sanded particles from plastic metal and the sanding paper in the instrument ,blowing the particle only push the deeper into the harmonica , I was expecting the piece to be dismantled again and cleaned before you went further and attached the rest. When the particles are left in, moisture from the mouth will course these particles to hold water on and around them, witch in turn will corrode reed plate faster, But a very helpful tip with the Vaseline

Hi Brendan. Thank you so much for putting this on. I actually had my slider plates upside and wondering why it was cutting my lips. It is a Vintage Hohner 270.

hello maestro, when you drill the holes on the plates to put the screws, these holes correspond exactly to those of the 'comb'. how do you measure the location of these holes to be drilled? THANKS
@BrendanPowerMusic Жыл бұрын
The holes are there already, for small nails that went into the old wood combs. They just need to be enlarged by drilling.
@starckwest6358 Жыл бұрын
ok, your comb seems to solve the problème of nails going through the chambers of sound and then it'll increase the only ''close'' chambre.

I would guess that all the Horner 270 series will work with this comb solution? I have a Horner Super Chromonica 270 with a broken comb. It a model before the newer pear wood comb with “Horner” embossed on it. Thinking this is the best way to go and avoid the whole pear wood comb.

Are the mouth piece screws (seen at 17:55) included with power comb or should the original screws be used?
@hoogreg10 күн бұрын
They're included. There are no original screws - just little nails.

What do you think about using silicone seals between the comb and the reed plates or mouthpiece?
