I’m a drummer and have had to work on this type of thing. Like in the case of a jazz cymbal beat. At slower and medium tempos, the middle note (skip note) tips a bit closer to the downbeat, but for medium up and uptempo, the 3 8th notes kinda flatten out. Anyway, I’m loving harmonica lately, and really want to learn. I first saw you, Brendan, on a video years ago when I was learning how to play the Bodhran . Your harmonica playing impressed me. I lived in north Florida during that time and was jamming with some wonderful blues players. About 3 months ago I decided I needed to make studying and playing and harmonica a steady part of my life. I’ve been digging hearing the easy thirds harps but I would love to learn on my richter tuned harps, so I think I’ve found the right channel. Mr. Powers, Thank you so very much for the wonderful music and videos you share.

@@fasgamboa Yes: if you don't have the skills to make it yourself, there are harmonica techs who will do it for you. Also the manufacturer Seydel will make a harp in any tuning you can think of. Just input the notes via their Configurator.

Brendan I just got my powerbender seydel 1847 on Monday and all I can say is WIW!!! I almost feel like this tuning is a cheat code 😜 Every note feels so Intuitive to me. I’m a beginner as green as grass yet with this tuning I’m able to play what ever I’m hearing my my head. No it’s nothing fancy at this point but I’m able to get those not a which before would’ve required overblows either ease because of the draw bends available all the way up. The too 2 holes are giving me fits to bend but I got some excellent guidance from Rupert the sets keep in the US. Is your book available as a download? That is my next purchase. I wasn’t to learn more about the tuning itself and use it to the fullest. Thanks again Brendan and God nless

I just ordered myself the Seydel 1847 powerbender in A about an hour ago. Yesterday was my 45th birthday and I wanted to splurge and get myself a gift. I was going back and forth between the powerbender and the Wilde rock tuning. While the Wilde rock tuning is fantastic in its own right (and it’s more like the power draw), I chose the powerbender because of a couple factors: 1. I felt like the Wilde tuning had a couple notes repeating in places where, in my mind, 2. I can see some chordal options in the powerbender that will sound cool. For example draw 4&5 when playing over a 4 chord. 3. This video. Wills tuning is designed to play in 2nd position primarily and the powerbender can be played in whatever position you want. Anyway I just wanted to thank you Brendan for your hard work and dedixation to further revolutionizing the harmonica and being an all around champion for the community and the instrument.

@@cincinnatipedalsteel4347 Thanks for your interesting musical assessment of why you bought a PowerBender harp. From your moniker I assume you're a pedal steel player? I love all slide string instruments, and especially enjoy the playing of Robert Randolph on steel :) Since you bought a Seydel with magnetically receptive steel reeds, at some point you might like to consider adding one of Jim Antaki's Turboslides to it. It adds a lot of nice bending possibilities. I hope you enjoy exploring your PowerBender 👍
@cincinnatipedalsteel4347
@cincinnatipedalsteel4347 2 ай бұрын
@@BrendanPowerMusic yes I absolutely would like to add one of the turboslides at some point. Are they comparable with 1847 classics or just the session steel? I just watched your video with the turbo slide and that is very cool! Definitely open up a ton of more complex phrases (chromaticism and such) and also the ability to play the blow notes as draws and draw bends would open so many expressive avenues ! First thing first I will be ordering the book from you soon. Yes sir I started playing pedal steel 8 years ago and was blessed to find a friend and mentor in Paul Franklin. I have been playing paying music since I was about 11. I started with bass, then guitar, piano, drums (I can keep a basic beat), banjo, some Mandolin, dobro and lap steel and the pedal steel. I have only been learning harmonica for about 3 months now but I love it and am learning quickly. It helps that I already think in terms of intervals/ Scale degrees so a lot of the licks I play on steel I can play on harp. I’m no expert yet in the least but I can play single notes easily and I can get all the bends. I’m working on tone, nuance and technique as well as building my vocabulary. I think your tuning will help open so many possibilities to me. Again thanks for all your hard work and dedication. I look forward to emulating much of your playing.
