I usually try to sneak in War Propaganda in these short wars, like against Belgium. Just to make any future switch to say war economy that much quicker (you can also wait for the war with the Dutch and get double war propaganda).

I'm a huge Napoleon nerd so the Third French Empire is my favourite thing to do in HOI4 (Vanilla and Kaiserreich). On a side note, My Four Time Great Grandfather fought in the Grande Armee. He was 20 when he survived to Russian invasion and he also fought at Leipzig and Waterloo.

I tried the avenge Waterloo path today. The Germans pushed me out of the low countries and half way to Paris before I could deploy enough planes and troops to hold them. Took me a year to build up a decent tank army then I drove through Germany and eventually Russia. The Axis took 7 million casualties before I even began my counterattack. Their ferocity was shocking.

I found a way to bring the UK into the war earlier. What you do is you challenge Germany with Czechoslovakia and then immediately kick them out of your faction that gets created. The UK suddenly rushes to their aid and you can now declare on them sometime in 1938 instead of waiting for Poland. This also had the side effect of making Germany never invade Poland after they refuse the ultimatum.

To remove the malus for land doctrine, you can go in civil war by support spain. Your stab will drop a lot and a civil war could occur. All of the bad general will be also kick. When the war is win, you can join the faction of spain that you support ( for example carlist).

I agree. I did this when LaR came out, I also preferred the world conquest method. Eat UK on your own in 1938, eat Germany (with help of Russians), then eat Russia. I was also going for the destroyer achievement so I didn’t mind taking my sweet time strolling with a baguette under my arm from The Hague to Moscow.

Nice, i followed this guide and could claim Moscow. It went a bit different but in big lines it went the same. Missed the independecy of Finland but I made it without Finland. I'm now at the point where I'm gonna try to destroy Germany but it's gonna be a hard nut it think. I had troubles with naval invasions since I could only use 10 convoys at a time even when I had like 500-700 which weren't in use

About armored divisions : Don't forget the harder your division, the least relevant the org stat. Unpierced divisions suffer 50% dmg, both strength- and org-wise ;)

Funny enough, how I got this achievement actually never involved going to war with Britain. Instead, it involved taking the Benelux then guarantee Poland with Britain, smash Italy, and just barely beat the Germans before they could to me. After that, I declared on the Soviets and used 2 paratroopers to land around Moscow and take the achievement.

I like that france has many political routes, but some of them could benefit of a little update because they feel a bit barebone imo. Their other focus are not very strong too, like industrial and military. France should be the tricky major to play with tons of potential but you have to survive in order to get there, hell turkey has a better tree than france in general and lots of decisions, france is kinda limited in this department

For some reason I much prefer 20 width tank divisions. When I go for 40 widths, I never have enough of them, and if I manage to get enough tanks to make a couple of full strength 40 widths, they're extremely disappointing. Even when I have the same amount of 20 width divisions as 40 width, the 20s do wayy beter.

Challenge idea: play as any Balkan nation you want and fight the axis and comintern at the same time. Stipulation: you must be at war with the second faction within 6 months of declaring on the second and you must be at war with both at the same time. Extra credit if you do it without joining a faction!

hmm, do Hungary and Romania count? Otherwise, Bulgaria is your best bet: decent focus tree, far enough to not be steamrolled instantly, (only your coast needs to be guarded) and you can surround yourself with puppets to prevent being destroyed at will. you can then work with the Allies against the Axis and the Comintern (if you go fascist they won't let you join anyway). Your challenge does not specify that you should directly defeat the Comintern and the Axis, so you can instead play the factions against one another so they can be weak. You can rely on the Allies to defeat the Axis (they're good in recent patches) and defeat the weakened Soviet Union yourself

When I play France, I get my early army experience by intervening in Spain. It not only gets army experience but gets rid of one of the Fascist regimes on my border. Got to watch the stability though.

80hours total so I’m fairly new to the game. Ussr declared on Finland in early December 1939. My divisions were totally not ready. Failed the landing. Lost my tanks then Finland signed treaty with the soviets literally a month after. Tf did I do wrong lol?
