15:48 Fun fact about the Japan offers Peace event: If you leave the port of Dailan under Japanese control, the event will not fire. If you just leave it barricaded with some divisions, you can start building an airfield + train paratroopers and do a paradrop into Japan, since most of their troops will either be holed up on the mainland or will be trying to break through in Dailan, leaving the Home Islands sparsely defended. I've also found that it's much easier to get the air superiority over the Home Islands with Dailan still occuped by Japan, since they will be trying to give themselves air superiority over Dailan and Liaoning than try to defend the islands. With that, you can get a pretty nice puppet from Japan early.

Fantastic advice! I tried doing this a bunch of times between yesterday and today. I would like to add, if I may, that, in my experience, unless Japan is pretty deep into Mainland China, the Home Islands' defenses (especially Honshu's, the main island) are too damn strong for paratroopers to pull out an invasion, even if Japan have half of their army in Dailan. I can't tell you how many times I failed to take Hiroshima. Only once I succeeded, and the pressure from the Japanese army was so strong that my paratroopers were annihilated. Kyushu, however, is pretty lightly defended, and it has a good enough infrastructure and port in Nagasaki to serve as a forward base for your armies, should you decide to invade the mainland. Plus, even if the Japanese Navy is around and the game tells you there's a 100% chance that your convoys will get intercepted, you won't have any problems ferrying troops from South Korea to Nagasaki once you secure the city, or supplying those troops in Kyushu: NOT ONCE did any of my armies get intercepted, nor did I have supply issues. You can deploy a few more paratroopers behind the enemy lines to cut their supplies off, and once you manage to break through the straits that separate Kyushu from the other islands (especially the one into Honshu), Japan just falls apart like a house of cards. It will probably take waaaaaaaaay longer than if you let Japan advance into China and backstab them once they're halfway there (it's 31 August 1942 in my current playthrough, and I puppeted Japan at some point in the past week), but it's an alternative if Chinese resistance in the continent is too strong.

Love your videos man!! Just a small correction on the condition of getting “dragon swallow the sun”. It does not require that you annex japan “without ever being in a faction”. You just can’t be in a faction the moment you annex them. I got this achievement when I joined Axis, puppeted Japan, left Axis, and then annexed them through the autonomy system. Cheers!

Your luck sir, make me remember my campaign as fascist USA, and i'm not ready for the civil war and UK and his allies declare war on me because everything gone to chaos, and suddenly a bug happen instead of war against UK, i became his allies and the Constitutional must fight against me and the allies, so i win pretty easy and wouldn't you know that UK fleet got decimated by the Constitutional fleet, so an naval invasion from france to UK are a thing and the rest are history

I was so close to taking over China and I accidentally invited the vassals to war and China curb stomped them and opened up another front. Ended up running out of supplies but was a fun 5 hours. Great guide by the way!

The vassals can be hit and miss....Guanxi is usually fairly competent, but their primary use is to keep chinese divisions on thier border, away from YOUR front

the focus tree is very OP because you just get a ton of bonuses. i'm a fairly new player and i found that playing on recruit and following the focuses made it almost impossible to loose in korea.

Very nice guide, thank you. A shame i didn't see this one earlier, because i did a few things different, some were good, but some outright stupid. For example, i called my puppets into war and one of them got instantly annihilated. It would have been way better like you did it. I also thought i go for tactical bombers because they are more flexible, but at the time i was able to mass produce them, i had conquered nearly all of asia, including India and parts of the Soviet Union. I did a few things different that i don't regret though. I skipped support equipment and used 20 width infantry only with support artillery and support anti-air. I also encircled the chinese capital and after 1 or 2 months China's divisions started to get attrition problems. I was happy i had done this, because the japanese already sat in South China and dowed one of my puppets before China was finished. Therfore i really had to rush China to avoid fighting at 2 fronts. I also disbanded my units except 1 at the beginning, because it gives you way more political power to don't recruit the bandits. Instead i just built a full army of 6 width cavalry divisions and a mixture of 6 width and 20 with infantery and added artillery after the independence war. I also didn't get US support and went for Tibet and Mongolia instead, which doesn't help with the achievements.

That one doesn't matter, you can be in the co-prosperity sphere. You can/could even rejoin it in earlier patches, but I haven't tested it in 1.9.1

Personaly i like to rush foreign investor... Japan! They can help you with basic naval investments, usualy i can push few submarines out of the docks before the war. They realy help in cuting off supply in continental asia.

I recall at one time Korea was a vassal to the Qing and they controlled the area around Vladivostok and Khabarovsk until the Russians took those areas.

The improved AI is a problem somehow. Last time I can just paradrop to Hiroshima and finish off Japan, now they keep having some planes there. Edit: Actually scratch that, I found a new trick. First, build an airbase in S Korea like always. Make sure you have enough transport planes and paratroopers ready. DO NOT send fighters to Japan yet, instead send them to the seas to keep the Japanese airforce busy elsewhere along with having your navbombers and med bombers attacking ships. The Japanese should keep their homeland air empty. Now just order paratroopers to drop somewhere save, DO NOT drop in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, or Nagoya, there are always troops there waiting to naval invade. The safest place is the empty space next to the unmarked Tsuruga port north of Nagoya. Immediately secure Tsuruga port (and by means Nagoya) and the rest should be easy.

I seem to be unable to push into China. Even with almost fully equipped 7/2 divisions I keep on getting bitchslapped by China. I’m attempting to do everything the same as the video. Any additional tips on dealing with the Chinese? I've been trying for this achievement for weeks but they always seem to regroup at some point between me capturing Nanjing and preparing to advance on Chongqing. Today I couldn't even make it to Beijing, felt like I was doing so well too.

I've since refined my strategies for combat a bit. Try to fill the front with 10/0 fodder (our inf with 20 width) and only use 14/4 (inf/artillery) for offensive operations. Artillery will shred Chinese divisions, they cannot resist you.

I can't give you exact numbers, just get as many as you can afford/supply. And you don't need the cav, but I like using them for encircling

You could just Order 66 them. I've found that the AI for the Chinese warlords always gives military access once you declare independence (just pause the game the second you complete the Independence War focus), and because the AI never cancels it (even if you have a war goal on them), you can just station your troops in China, deploy a bunch to secure the boarder (the fodder template works great for this), and then either justify a Retake Claimed State wargoal on Communist China, or if you took the offer vassalization focus, use the Puppet Wargoal on a state you haven't garrisoned.

I played a test run with manchuko on 1.8 with non ironman and the easier difficulty. I didn't have any strategy at all, but I won. I declared war on Japan a while after they got at war with China. I joined the chinese faction and attacked their northern forces from behind giving me a nice encirlement of about half of their Army. Japan gave me a white peace as soon as I pushed them off the continent and they transfered all of their colonies to the closest Chinese countries. After that they immediatly declared war on one of the chinese Warlords in the Chinese United Front and I helped them to win. After that I was able to do a quick "order 66" because they invited me into their faction again.

Currently failing hard at this. Beating Japan in the first round was easy. Then all the warlords became my puppet, so China was easy too. But Japan round 2... Their naval supremacy is insane. 100+ subs and building more, still only at 20%....

Why? It was called the "Qing empire", and "China" comes from "Qing" (the "Q" is pronounced similar to the "ch" in cheese, not like the "q" in queen or "k" in king). No real difference. It's already weird enough to name a country based on a particular dynasty that at some point ruled it. Outright calling it "The Qing Dynasty" seems excessive, especially for HoI. But then again, there's that "Qing China" thing :D

before capitulating China you can also consider drawing some nearby minor countries into their faction , like Tibet and Portugal (Macau) with fast justifications that's available to fascists. puppeting Portugal allows a foothold in Europe too.

Ugh I had no Idea you could pick assertiveness and avoid early war with China. In my last run I was fighting both united front and Japan at the same time. My plan was to bring the Allies in but they were still getting beat by the chinese. I Got impatient and did a VP rush with light tanks on the warlords. I capitulated Guanxi clique and got Nat China to 99% and controlled all of the Chinese coast before I got naval invaded by the Japanese and my army totally encircled. They had a few VPs in the west near the Tibetan border that were holding out. Shanxi is probably the second hardest warlord to beat, the mountains are a nightmare, if you want to really cheese the run reroll until they accept the vassal request. Micro fatigue is a real thing in this run and I would not recommend doing it in one sitting.

So I've tried to play Manchu after NSB, now the Japanese seem to just kick Chinas ass while maintaining all their strength. Supply in Mengkukuo is a nightmare for my troops and even so they should have a massive debuff, the Japanese infantry rolls over my fully equipped and trained units sitting on supply hubs like a bulldozer. Guess I'll start my fourth try tomorrow.

@@fernandopenatti7089 I did another try and succeeded. The key was patience for Japan to fully commit themselves to China. I kept a close eye on their stockpiles (when in their faction you can see every peace of equipment they have) and their divisions strength. Create artificial deficits of any equipment they have in stock and ask for lend lease, also keep an eye on their offensives once you accumulated all your buffs. Dont start a war before they did at least one naval invasion and throw everything they have into the Chinese meatgrinder. There were periods when neither Japan nor China did any attacking. Hold until they fight. It took me a few tries but on the fourth one I actually did it. Good luck

Yeah,the AI isn't great at the moment, but you should still be able to cut China to ribons with your superior troops and by outsmarting them. Every province you take will only make you stronger!

@@Bitt3rSteel I helped germany by trading massive amounts of steel from them around 1940. In addition i pushed the Brits out of India and later attacked the Soviets when Germany reached Stalingrad. In that part of the Soviet Union is steel you really need.
