Hoist Cable Conditioning Bell 412EP - Breeze Eastern 600lb Hoist

A demonstration during a hoist class of the 600lb load cable conditioning process on a Bell 412EP fitted with a breeze eastern hoist. Cable conditioning helps to prolong cable life and improve cable wrapping on the drum. The basic principle is to deploy the full length of the hoist cable without a load applied, then once fully extended, apply the maximum load approved for the hoist system and retract. The aircraft climbs and descends as cable is deployed/retracted to keep the load close to the ground which enhances load stability and improves tagline control. The process in this video has been completed slightly slower than typically necessary and with more verbal instruction, as the process was being taught to students in a class. Consult your hoist manufacturers manuals to confirm that this procedure is applicable to your specific hoist. For the purpose of this video, a 600lb load was simulated with a litter (Made by Pax-Bags), an attendant and a tagline for load stabilization.
