I'll add one more thing: I also recommend trying the car sounds mod from PabloRacer. The mod gives you an unusual feeling, you feel how carefully the engines were processed and updated, and some are completely unique: for example, the inline-five in the Focus with maximum tuning, or the three-rotor RX-7... Lovely!

good guide, the only other thing i'd mention is to be aware of the car limit when installing addon cars. i think the maximum amount of addon cars is 17? not sure. but cars added above that limit won't appear in the menu/car lot/etc. because there's only so much space allocated for cars in the save files iirc. not that much of a problem now if you're only sticking to lore-friendly mods with vanilla-level customization, but as the ug2 modding scene expands it probably will be one

My first round of modding went perfectly, but today I added some more cars and made a new game profile, but the cars still don't show up. Is there a limit to how many cars can fit into the game? @@VikEu98 So i was trouble shooting this last night. dinput8.dll when i added it was what was stopping my game from opening. So i dug and found out its an injector for different mods reshade hdtextures ect. I removed all the reshade mods in the scripts folder and it booted up for me. I ended up adding back the original Reshade bayview and it worked so maybe just pick one of the reshade mods?

I make changes in the Extra Options .ini file but they don't seem to work, any help? Specifically I change "UnlockAllThings" and "RemoveLockedAreaBarries" to 0 but there's no effect in game. The whole map is unlocked at the start of the career, as well as every upgrade and customization option. Only the cars aren't available.

hey! everything is working perfectly but I've got the windows cursor on top of the nfsu2 cursor in-game now :/ When the nfsu2 cursor eventually disappears due to inactivity the windows one is still visible. Do u know of any fixes?

I was hoping someone might be able to help me. I got this up and running on my deck finally using a combination of this video and some others, but it seems like the controls that came over with my installation have "Gas" as the "B" button on the controller and "Brake" as the "A" button and if I remember correctly from PS2 these things were in different positions, plus my start button does not seem to work. Where do I need to go to edit the controls for the steam deck controller? When I open the in game control setting it looks like it has keyboard shortcuts listed.

How many cars can you add with Binary? My limit was 9 addon cars. After that, the cars just don't show up in the game, but they do register in debug.

make a new savegame. and yes it has unlock conditions like the vanilla cars, but you can use Extra Options to unlock everything and check if it appeared.

So for the car mods the problem I’m having is that they need the Unlimiter mod for them to work but I can’t install strings and textures because it was expecting VERSN1. Any suggestions on how to get around this?

The strings and textures .end files are used by the main .end script file. Just follow the readme file and you will be good to go, users usually don't need to mess with those files you said.

I noticed the game is constantly stuttering and going below 10 fps even with 60fps cap and vsync on. It is barely utilizing my GPU at less than 10% usage. I'm using an AMD RX 6800, and I even tried putting in a DXVK patch with the d3d9.dll file but that makes the game not launch. The dxvk patch fixed my gpu issues in NFS MW 2005 so I thought it would be the same for NFSU2. Could I get more help with this ?

The only fix I came up with right now is disabling reshade for anyone wondering. Turns out the reshade d3d9 rendering doesnt work together with the dxvk's provided d3d9.dll file. Unfortunate but at least it's possible to play without stutters.

Finally, been waiting for this video! I installed just the ug2dotnet mod and had no issues in-game, but I do have a small problem though: whenever I exit NFSU2, my PC gets massively slowed down for some reason. Everything in the Win Explorer gets super choppy and the only fix for it I know is restarting the PC, which is so tedious. If anyone knows a fix for this, please lmk, tyvm!

@boraboraborabora4 Oh, yeah actually! I put the WindowedMode lines to 0 in both the Ug2 Extra Options ini and the Widescreen Fix ini files. Then I also put SingleCoreAffiny to 1 in Extra Options and that fixed it, somehow. I'm on v1.02 for my ug2dotnet install, btw
