Thing that always struck me is that, while Rei died horribly because the whole point of Hokuto Shinken seems to not only kill people but make them explode into meat chunks, he didn't go out like all the others who have had that happen to him. He goes into the house so his friends and loved one's don't have to see him die like that and even the camera never really shows what happened. In the manga, there is never even a shot of the inside of the house when it happens. Even the show creators and author seemed to say, "No. Rei gets to die with dignity. He's more than earned that."

Raoh techique was particularly barbaric cause its not an explosion but amassive bleeding the cause of death. Even so i like that they didnt show it. Much scarier but in a way much more dignifiying for Rei this way.

​@@SIGNOR-G The way the anime depicted it, it made it seem like Rei exploded the same way as any other random thug. It plays the exact same sound effect as when a mohawk dude explodes after fighting Kenshiro, the viewer just isn't actually shown the results. But even with a table blocking the view, the anime shows a large explosion of censored blood, and whatever happened made so much of a mess that blood was leaking out from under the door, a good 4-5 meters away from where Rei died. Furthermore, it does explicitly show Rei's shoulder exploding, as a signal that Rei's death is imminent. So yeah, I'm pretty sure @Cognitive Dissonance is right, and Rei blew up into meat chunks.

That said im glad they didnt showed. Rei was a good man and seeing him torn apart wouldnt exactly be nice to see.
