Hokutoryu is realistic martial art for self defense. In these videos you can't see what Hokutoryu really is. These are like "slowly showing nice looking things. Hokutoryu schools and Soke Auvo Niiniketo trains polices, guards, soldiers for example. You can maybe find some of the insane good tactics online, also from youtube. Mostly only Hokutoryu students know them.

Can someone explain to me - why are all the attacks slow and single? Wouldn't you expect an aggressive attacker to attack in a series of blows and strikes rather than one?

In these videos you can't see what Hokutoryu really is. These are like "slowly showing random nice looking things. Example in the dan test (first black belt rank) you have long match with multiple attackers. Hokutoryu schools and Soke Auvo Niiniketo trains polices, guards, soldiers for example. Soke Niiniketo has even made changes to how Finnish Police behaves in different situations and have given control tactics for them. Mostly the tactics are available only for stundents of Hokutoryu.
