I know the program is still deep in a hole, but seeing Scott emerging from that tunnel with the team behind him for the first time is quite a powerful image

I wouldn't want it any other way. If it was any other season I would feel a little more confident. But damn i respect the hell out of Frost. I do think our guys will be excited to go and play well. But if we were to win it will have to be a claw it out victory.

Why it took them 3 hrs to cancel???hmmm. And the kick off? Really! Like they didn't already know what was going to happen moments later with a delay...I understand they can't control the weather, but they handle it wrong. And them kicking off was not a accident. Check the rules, fill us in?
@orclover23536 жыл бұрын
the heavy weather wasn't supposed to hit until 8:30...but we got some capping in the atmosphere in the early after when it got cloudy so the storms popped out front of the main system. Had the capping lead to rain around 2, then entire system could have been weakened and maybe we get 3 quarters in...heck the forecast at noon said the storm would even hit lincoln until 11 p.m...the boundary lined up right on o street, had it been 10 miles north or south then we probably at least get a half in....this hasn't happened in NUs history...there is nobody to blame just bad luck.
@wayiamstarr6 жыл бұрын
No don't blame weather, but them dragging out cancelation was odd, when every radar, only suggested it was going to be worse. And do u think the cancellation ASAP after kick off was coincidence?
@orclover23536 жыл бұрын
Many games have a 3 hr cancellation window...some games have started after midnight and been completed. Even earlier in the day the Michigan state game had a 3 hr delay...also the system was weaker to the west and grew in strength as it reached lincoln as our dew point was very high...this is unique, especially late at night. The precedent for a system like this is a severe storm in the first wave, maybe the 2nd, and then medium to light rain after....this storm stayed severe through the night. It could be flipped as well, all fans knew the weather, it was why I chose not to go, fans could have stayed in safety knowing they would have a lengthy delay...
@wayiamstarr6 жыл бұрын
@@orclover2353 WTF is your point? Fan were completely safe the entire time, until they officially cancelled the game 3 hrs later and the weather was 10 times worse then hrs before. As was seen on every radar by every fan with a smart phone, I know you're probably know more then the rest of us. I understand that the possibly exists for the weather to change. But the weather reports at noon ended up being exactly what happened.
@orclover23536 жыл бұрын
It is the fans responsibility to look out for their safety...the program has a responsibility to play the game regardless of fans, they can still play without an audience or t.v broadcast. The hope was they could start the game by 11-12...there is precedent for that...I can tell you that the worst cell didn't cancel the game but the weather after it, all the way into kansas...the expectation was that fans would be long gone whether it was cancelled or not because intelligent people can also look at the radar and see..shit we have a 30 minute walk to our car, or hotel lets get the hell out of here...rarely if ever are games cancelled in less than 3 hours...this one was cancelled at 2 hours 30 minutes. And the forecast was wrong, as the announcer said...the storms were supposed to start at 8-9, not 6:30...the game was delayed by 15 minutes to start as well...even that 15 minutes could have meant we scored, had a lead, and had leverage to call it a win or move it to Sunday.

I don't get what's so great about it? Its guys walking out a tunnel? Don't most sports teams walk out a tunnel? Is there something I'm missing here? I'm Australian so we don't have those "college" traditions but we do have sport here and our teams walk out tunnels

The 30 minute rule is stupid. No other sport does it. Lightning will hit the highest point 99% of the time. BIG buildings, like stadiums, have lightning rods specifically for this purpose. There was a baseball stadium hit during a game a few weeks ago. No injuries. I haven't researched it, but I cannot recall a single lightning related injury during a sporting event. This "fan and player safety" line of crap is snowflake central. Then fans stay in their seats (same danger) hoping for the game to resume, and I'm damn near positive a player has NEVER been hit by lightning in ANY sport. So those odds are astronomical, as well. Bunch of Butch Hug Snowflakes staring at an oversensitive radar screen.

I'm totally with you man. Preach it brotha. I'm tired of the sissy bs. most of the time just let them play. Football is about playing through the snow, and weather right? Macovicka and wistrom would probably have something to say about "smashmouth football". Enough with the bullshit, let's play next time. 70 mph winds were crazy tho. But even so the fans stuck it out. I'm so stoked for the season and we have amazing fans, this was just ultimate blue balls
@stacyhowell53976 жыл бұрын
You really underestimate the seriousness of lightning..this has to be the dumbest comment ever
@fifthgeneration33716 жыл бұрын
While I agree, less than 2 hours later a freaking monsoon happened with 60+mph winds absolutely intense rainfall and the most lighting I have ever seen in a long time. While they could have played until halftime or so this game would have been cancelled no matter what. I waited since 11 am for a front spot in the boneyard and im disappointed as is everyone else but we can't keep lying to ourselves that this game would ever have happened Saturday night with the weather. Stayed until they called it off btw.

usertubeification Man I feel your pain. But better safe than sorry, right? What if by some crazy ass chance lightning did strike? All I'm saying, is in the end its only a game. It's not worth someone's life.
