Holašovice is proudly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.

A courtyard enclosed by an arched gate and a double hipped facade - plain or decorative - of a white-painted building topped with a red roof. Opposite the threshing floor, a row of enormous barns with dark doorways wait patiently for the harvest. These simple features of the estates, together with the charming landscape setting, create a poetic composition of the South Bohemian countryside, which has been a source of inspiration for many artists since the 19th century and is deeply engraved in the hearts of most South Bohemians. And not only for South Bohemia, the image of a village or solitude nestled in the landscape here is so characteristic that it has overshadowed other distinctive features of the region and its subregions, and the surrounding world perceives it almost exclusively from this perspective. Just as some other areas of our republic are called regions with castles, wine or even spa towns, South Bohemia is primarily a region with rural architecture, for which the not entirely correct name 'peasant baroque' became popular. The fact that these types of rural homes only rarely appear on the prestigious World Heritage List also speaks of the supra-regional significance and specificity of this phenomenon. And it is Holašovice who is an exception and has proudly claimed this legacy since 1998.
