I did a shop tour a couple weeks ago, but this is the rest of the farm! Besides the shop, we have four main buildings that we use for cold storage. The majority of equipment is stored in these when not being used. Let me know what you guys want to see next before things get busy in the leadup to spring! Thanks for watching!

Old farmer from Manitoba, Canada. Really enjoy your enthusiasm for what you do. You may think you are getting all the “grunt” jobs on the farm but your dad loves you and it’s his way of showing you the business from the ground up for the future of your operation when he decides to step back a little and give the reins to you and your brother. Farming today is a business and needs to be treated as such every day be it checking market futures or sweeping up the shop. Congratulations and keep up the good work. P. S. As a dad who raised some daughters that fortunately turned out like their beautiful mom, please don’t show where you live like on the grain truck door cause you don’t know who is watching.

I just found your site...and watched about 10 of your videos in a row. As someone from the Pa. burbs who knows nothing about farms and farming.....I am fascinated by the complexity and knowledge ( and investment!) required to maintain a working farm. Also.....kudos to you personally for being such a professional....someone with a common sense approach to life, and a work ethic......rare in this day of people obsessed with the frivolous and silly unimportant things. Farming is the backbone of our world......thanks for sharing your insights and just your daily work routine. Some may find this routine or boring.....but American's esp. need to understand the hard work, difficulties and challenges that come with agriculture.....which for too many of us seems alien. It is only because we are so distanced from nature that we see farming this way...when the reality is we should better understand life on our farms. Very impressive videos. One suggestion: While in a noisy combine.....put captains in so I can better understand what you are saying. Thanks.

I confess I love your kitchen episodes...there is a serenity in them that provides the kind of peace of mind one obtains coming to the table after working all day and having a family meal. Therefore, given the question, what would you like to see in the next episode, a hungry man dinner of course comes to mind. After thinking about it though, it may be even more interesting food for the brain to see how you calculate the market prices and subset of decision arrays you have to make every day-and-how your decisions are affected by weather forecasts.

Thank you for being you and for sharing your daily life with us. During your shop tour, I notice something my dad had on his Nebraska farm back in the 1960's. It was the cylindrical metal soil thermometer with a 3/8" rod screwed into it. I used it multiple times; often every spring. I hadn't thought of that since I moved off of the farm in the 1980's. Please, keep sharing as this is soooo much better than TV!!! Feel real good about yourself as you have a great personality and kick___ looks!

ERIN, you are the salt of the earth. You and your family work very hard. Farming is a challenging demanding and difficult job. I am a mechanical engineer and grew up with little knowledge of an uncle that ran a 100 head dairy farm in New England. He and his family did it all from planting, milking processing and delivering milk. I don't think he and his family ever slept. This was the 50's and 60's. Your dad is certainly a hard worker. I don't know what the negative comment is but sounds like someone is envious and lacks self confidence. Don't listen too the negative confidence. You are very confident and don't lose it to these losers. As far as college. inbuilds confidence, self discipline and challenge. I am sure you use your education from seed selection to negotiating crop sales. The maintenance of farm equipment is very impressive and pays dividends on the mechanical end avoiding breakdowns during the season. I am so impressed with you and your family and you will be very successful. Life is about enjoining your occupation, money is secondary, it comes with success. I am an animal lover and supporter too. Enjoyed the adventures of Roscoe. I have much more to say. It is encouraging to see you and family working together in a time when many folks your age expect entitlement.

Thanks for the tour Erin.. I don't think you were awkward.. I haven't been on the farm since 87, when my uncle passed away. We were no where near as big as your operation.. We had 3 tractors, one of which was an old case that still had a manual crank to start it (it did have electric start, but the battery was always dead). Our newest tractor was an 83 international 1086. I sure miss those days. Thanks again

Great tour Erin. It sure made me miss farming. Yeah I know that it's hard work but I was built for hard work. My grandfather was a farmer. He taught me the value of hard work and to never be afraid of it. Personally I think that people who work hard live longer better lives. Sitting behind a desk for a job would be hell for me.
