Right now, a bitter, angry, narcissistic, lying, backstabbing, two-faced, thieving, gaslighting, manipulative relative that I ghosted over a year ago has started her second round of a smear campaign. She tried this before, has attempted a hoover, etc. Next, when people mention her, I'm just going to start asking who she is.

Yes, to a point, that’s who I’m working for. An insecure, jealous, covert narcissist who, the only reason why I haven’t said anything, is because of a paycheck in a bad economy. But, at the start, they said they were their family’s scapegoat. I’ve seen different since then. I go ahead and let them think they’re unseen. They’ve isolated me, by shifting my work to someone else. The only good news is that, in addition to myself, they have another target, who works for the same person they do. We were also asked to write reviews of our boss. I’m not stupid, however. I didn’t do like this boss and work to tear them down. I put in the attributes they have, while ensuring all of the ones they don’t have, were left out. I can only hope that another coworker, who was marginalized by them, has done the same and that our boss’s boss picks up on this.

@ in a workplace setting, much is left up to perception. You can be and also be made to look like the office malcontent, by a narcissistic boss, who’s exactly put you there. I’m already there. There’s but so many years, you can sit there, staring at a wall, while even new supply knows you’re not busy, because they’ve been given your job. Tearing the boss down, to their superior may seal the deal. The unfortunate reality of dealing with narcissists, in some situations, is you have to wait for them to hang themselves. You also have to understand that, even if your boss’s superior asks you to review your boss, if you write a poor review, no matter how deserved, that is your own perspective, may not be seen that way by anyone else, and that’s superior may simply internalize your review and think, “I wouldn’t want any subordinate writing this about me!” This leads to a narcissistic boss getting away with a lot. But there’s nothing you can do - and that narcissistic boss knows it.
